Yes a good time had by all yesterday. I thought in the 1st half we were excellent. The passing was excellent and Dave's goal was a screamer. Second half we sat back too much for my liking, especially against 10 men, but the back four were superb. They had to deal with a lot of long balls into the box and dealt with it fairly well. Avery and Henry were awesome at the heart of the defence. But to single out any one player would be an injustice as the team were brilliant yesterday. You could tell at the end that it mean't as much to the players and management as it did to the fans. We are now club again.

I have to be honest, I was not impressed with Margate at all. A long ball team and no doubt.  The usual excuses from Kinnear on the way home on the radio as well. Injuries, no money, playing kids. Welcome to the real world Kinnear. We have been there for 14 years! Sorry, I am not a fan of this bloke. But I have nothing but best wished for Margate. Accomodating hosts, even managed to persuade them to re-open the bar at half time  :D

This day was everything I had hoped for and more, made all the better by the exceptional hospitality offered by the Margate people, from the turnstile operators and stewards, to the bar staff and of course a big thankyou to the fans as well

Several of their fans spoke to me and others before the game in the bar, during the game on the terrace and offered congratulations at the end, despite the result and the obvious bad patch that their team are going through at the moment.

Fans just like The Darts who have had their ground troubles and money worries, but are now just about to start building a hotel complex at Hartsdown Road, good luck to you all for the rest of the season, plus I would like to think that both clubs could meet again soon home and away within our new stadiums.

As for the game what can I say other than well done to the team and to the management for a very very good result, into the next round and some more cash for the coffers.

The whole team battled from start to finish and my only disappointmet was that we should have at least scored two goals to ease the pressure on the manager and fans, a point stressed after the game by Tony Burman in an interview with Radio Kent.

We almost took the lead when Jimmy side footed a cross wide when unmarked early on, then Davie Martin scored, a cross from Gary Carter (a much improved performance today) was flicked on by Jimmy and from the edge of the box a diagonal well placed shot along the ground found the far corner of the net.

A chance right on half time saw Jimmy break clean through into the box but he seemed more intent on going for the penalty than shooting as a defender closed him down from behind and got the tackle in, with the referee not being impressed. (Full marks to the ref for an excellent game)

Margate had several chances to score in the first half including hitting the post, with most coming from dangerous crosses and miss-timed headers going wide and this was the biggest threat again second half.

But our defence was standing firm, Avery and Henry showing ther class and when they were beaten others from midfield or defence were there to cover, plus of course Kevin Hudson showed his usual experience being in the right place at the right time and pulling off several good saves.

We should have added a second when Spriggsy  got into a great scoring position outside the box and hit a sreamer just over the bar, Davie Martin had an open goal for a header which flashed just wide of the far post plus Eddie made chances for himself.

But as they say one was enough and the Darts fans went home happy after singing for the entire 90 minutes, orchestrated and conducted by Anfield 070 (Graham) most of us hoarse, leaving little conversation in the car going home other than listening on the radio to Tony modest as ever and hearing Chris Kinnear moaning about his bad luck over the last 3 years and having no money to spend.

Still they have survived as a team with a new ground coming soon, what has he to moan about after 3 years, we Darts fans in a similar situation again shortly to receive a new ground, have been waiting for nearly 14 years without moaning too much.

we also did margate another favour as we saved them money as they were able to turn the floodlights off immediately after the game as the smiles on our guys faces [ especially haffy, pully and kevin ] lit the whole ground up  !!!!!

i'm just thinking that maybe kinnear NOT coming to us and us having to resort to plan B was not such a bad idea after all

thats tongue in cheek TB, we didnt really want the ocerated tw.t anyway !!!!

thanks to everyone for a great result, wish i could have seen it.there are no great teams without a great defence unless you are brazil.its music to my ears to hear that henry and avery were superb.
lets hope for a good draw, if we draw someone  at a higher level who are concentrating on promotion or trying to stay in their league it could be another win and more cash.

How about EVERYONE trying their best to be at the next home game, the players deserve it and its about time our crowds crept over the 300 mark, we have loud vocal support as it is but our club is back on its feet again, come on Darts fans spread the word, this club is worth watching again, get your coats on make the effort and get behind the club on the terraces again.

The fans that made the trip yesterday were nothing short of superb, and that's the view of the gate fans! The support is only going to get better as the team wins more often so our time is coming, apart from Dover we are respected wherever we go, Darts fans have had to put up with rubbish displays in the last few years but we are now managed by Darts legends who know what its like to be a part of a successful Darts set up, they are nurturing outstanding youthful prospects and we can see it as the weeks go by, yesterday was a great reward for everyone, make no mistake that's a taster, we're hungry for more. ARE YOU?

Have to mention the Radio Kent interview from Chris Kinnear before this thread is locked, he sounded  awful and came across that way as well, as Darts fans we know so well the hardship of not having much money, leading a nomadic life with money coming in from donations and fundraising events so to hear him drone on about lack of cash etc and injuries hid the facts that on the day he could not field a side capable of winning vs a team from a lower league! He went on about not having a Gambian intl available then in the next breath saying he was suspended from yesterday anyway!

Chris Kinnear you are experiencing what us Darts have had to put up with for many years, accept it stop making excuses and do your job and coach the players you have and motivate them, our TB has and to harp on about not having players that were sold is folly.

i am quickly losing respect for chris kineer as he is joining the ranks of managers who can only win things if the cheque book is out and all is right with the world

the class acts are the guys who can manage and motivate players to surpass their own level of perfrormance and play as a team and not fall apart at the first sign of things going bad

so unless you want to join this motley bunch then i suggest mr kineer that you " cut the crap " and prove to the genuine bunch of loyal margate supporters that you can stoill " cut the mustard "

dont bother looking at the darts cause we got the top man and its too classy for you  PAL  !!!!

It just goes to show after yesterdays game how much of a class manager Tony really is, he can motivate and get younger players with a lot less experiance than Margates team fired up and raring to go and can attract and bring in some good players without being able to wave a cheque book in front of a players face.

Chris Kinnear is a manager thats been around for a lot of years and has got so much more experiance than Tony and has had loads of success but this success seems to have only come when he's had an open wallet and a blank cheque book. Now he's not got this facility or should i say luxuery he seems to be constantly moaning on about it and complaining that he can't sign any new players and doesn't seem to be able to bring any success what so ever.

The man needs to get in the real world and bring out the best in the players that he does have as well as use some of his younger players and bring them on with some good coaching. I think he really does need to take a good hard look at the management that we've got at Dartford which is a class act in Tony, Skip & Robbo.

Tony i think you need to be prepared for your phone to start ringing rapidly as Chris Kinnear will soon need your advise big time before his supporters start to lynch him.

I think that yesterday has just proved that money doesn't always buy you happyness.

I have to back up our manager in this instance. Its unfair to say he is only good with a cheque book.In his 10 years here he has got us up through the leagues to the Conference National and we had a good team then and leading up to it. He nver ever had a lot of cash to spare, not ever.Alas our problems started with the upgrade of the ground. Like you that should be put in the background now and concentration on the playing side should be a priority. I will give no excuses and I agree it annoys me when CK gives them out. However with the uncertainty of this club ever being around players are nervous about joining us. I dont know why seeing as though they would be here one minute and gone the next. They can always find another club but we cant & dont want to. CK may not be the best of talkers but he does love this club and will do everything he can to get things right. O.K. some of us are not too happy with things at the moment and are airing our views on things but as for CK he is still the best for the job. He just has to amend certain things and we will rise again. Please do not be too harsh on him as he hs been a model of a manager and has a record second to none.As for the game yesterday, again we give it away. No disrespect to your lads but each game we fail to be positive.Only in the second half with ten men did we begin to make inroads. With a little more luck in front of goal those ten men would have succeeded where they didnt with 11 men in the first half. It was a good day bar the result and it was a pleasure having your fans down here. Good luck in the next round and in the future. We shall overcome and start rising through the ranks soon as you will. WE will "click" soon and then the race will be on for a football league place. The very reason we had a stadium crisis in the beginning.
Both clubs are growing up again so from me to you good luck.

Theres certainly mutual respect from both clubs and from both sets of supporters as this proved yesterday when the supporters were all mixing and chatting in the bar before the game at halftime and again after the final whistle.

Both teams have hit seriously hard times and thankfully are now coming through them and into the better times because of all the hard work that the Directors of both clubs have put in as well as the supporters and anyone else involved with both clubs to keep their beloved teams afloat which is absolutely fantastic and both teams right the way through should be proud of what they have all achieved because without them there could so easily have not been a Margate FC or a Dartford FC anymore which would've been a tragedy because we are both 2 of the biggest clubs history wise in non-league football and certainly in Kent.

Good luck to Margate for the rest of the season and fingers crossed they will avoid relegation.

cookie - i agree with our lads postings and only have good feelings for " the margate club and hope that things go well for you this season

we are probably a bit sensitive to the " excuses mode " cause we had the " best  exponent ever " here last season and if that had continued we would have been playing the likes of erith and belvedere , maidstone this season

so, hopefully mr kineer can do it for you and that " the wood for the trees " doesnt prevail

regards from the duke

nb  cookie did you see that " crabble rabble " are trying to nick kevin hudson , understand from mr walker that he sees it as part oif his long term policy and not just a panic measure !!!!!!

what a superb afternoon - that game will stick in my memory for ever as one of the most enjoyable away trips.

The margate fans were very friendly and gracious in defeat.
Our players were so up for it.
Tony coming over and thanking us after the game.
The joy on the darts players and fans faces after winning.
The incredible support and singing from the darts fans.

i thought the dover game was fun but this was even better.

roll on the first round proper.

Blast it. Just when I wanted to be in contact for one of the highlights of the last decade, my BT line failed on Friday afternoon and I have only just had the fault fixed at the exchange, and only now been able to log on and start catching up with all the comments and postings. Thanks to friend Colin who was updating me via Kent Radio reports as he was unable to get to the match.

A big well done to the whole of the club. This must be the best result since our reformation, and it comes at a time when the whole club is really coming together again after so long in the wilderness.

What's even better is actually getting our name into the hat of the next draw and round of the Trophy. It does give a thrill, even if we are stil quite a way from the final at Villa Park. Success is so justly deserved, especially for TB, and he must be as pleased as punch that his young charges (and Kevin) are doing so well. I bet TB has no regrets at putting Plan B into operation now!! I hope his business isn't struggling. In fact, all this success may even bring him in more business, and I'm sure he is wise enough  and has a back up team in operation with the business - just as he has with the club.

Can't really add much more, because being a latecomer onto this thread after the match, there's not much more that can be said - you've said it all, including the hospitality of the Margatefansand club. Again, as I said when the draw was first made, the Margate fans were always going to be a cut above the Dover whingers - and so it has proved, even in defeat. Well done Margate and good luck for the rest of the season.

Now if Radio Kent are covering our game then that puts a different light on matters. Never ever do the "Gate" do the business when we are being covered by them. We always have these opportunities to impress whilst under the spotlight of the media but on every occasion we let ourselves down..badly. I would say therefore that because of Radio Kents attendance the odds have now swung steeply in your favour.

Sorry for the self-quote but  just thought i would say "I told you so". Not often I get things right so its not often I can say "I told you so"!
