Message repeated from another thread:-

Dear All,

As a Kent based life long Dons fan can I say how much we are looking forward to renewing old rivalries and frienships.

Dartford are a fine Club with a long tradition of good football and excellent hospitality.

As I have said on other threads our experiences in Thanet have been unfortunate, there is however no reason to assume they will be repeated anywhere else.

I do know the club officials at AFC are always happy to help clubs we visit by advising of things we have learnt on our travels.

Any Q's please dont hesitate to ask.

Kind Regards

Can someone please squash the rumours that if it rains hard or snows and the game is held up, then Cliff Richard will sing until play commences. or that that Bernard Cribbins is doing the commentary for Radio Kent  and that Mike Batt has written a new song about their fans. :)

Mind you some of the Rolling Stones, Pretty Things, & Dave Clark 5 members came from Dartford so perhaps The Darts could have a good old 60's tune to sing.

Dartford Stuart?
« Reply #5 on: November 18, 2005, 02:00:25 PM »

Hi
I'm a Dons fan, used to work with a Dartford supporter called Stuart in the late 90's in Bexleyheath. Think his surname might have been Wilson & he was well into the Darts, home & away. Anyone know the bloke I mean & if he still goes to games?

Cheers

Geoff

Geoff, nearest I can come up with is Stuart White who worked for a print finishing company in Bexeyheath along with my brother in law and Stuart played a couple of seasons for the Darts at full back.

catching up on postings after being away for a couple of days  inote some concern from afc fans about their safety on visit to stonehenge road

certainly there is NO THREAT from any darts fans or even casual supporters but i would hope that the fact that we play at a conference ground will mean that the standards that apply in this league can be adopted for this high profile ,  with anticipated large crowd 1000+,  game as this will encourage the afc fans to travel in numbers which will make for a terrific atmosphere and also some much needed extra ££££££££ for both clubs

so lets officially get the message to the AFC fans and ALL have a really great day

From what i understand we've asked Gravesends ground staff & stewards to help us out and run the day for us as they've got a lot more experiance in dealing with large crowds, segregation, what needs to be done on the day and whether the game would need Policing etc etc.

So fingers crossed there shouldn't be any problems what so ever and the bigger the crowd the better.

Come on both Darts & AFC supporters turn out in force to support your team & help raise some extra coffers for both clubs through the gate receipts.

Two questions,

1st, can someone explain the rules regarding a seven day approach and what it entails.

2nd, when is the game against AFC likely to be played, as I'm desperate to get to this game, personal problems allowing.

AFC Wimbledon is Saturday 26th.

The seven day approach rule is, I believe, where a club can put in an approach for a non-contract player, allowing the club seven days to discuss new terms (etc) for the player. After seven days, the player is allowed to discuss terms with the approaching club.

Just a couple of facts relating to the Wimbledon game that i think you should all be aware of beforehand.I am sure the club will expand on the details as the week progresses but this is as i understand it;
The game is definitely going to be segregated so the car park end will be away supporters only which means the obvious problems with parking for home supporters.
The admission price is increased by a pound for adults only .The reason for this is purely that we are employing Gravesends stewards for the day at a cost of 350 pounds.I am sure this will probably upset a few people but the logistics are expensive. :)

The extra gate receipts alone would pay for the stewards over and over again. 50 extra supporters will pay for them, we will get 800-1000!

Please don't patronize us, we know why the gate is being increased, to maximise the earning potential of the fixture. Don't hide away about it, be proud that we are finally in a position to reap the rewards of success.

I, for one, do not mind paying extra to watch this fixture and I know you have to mutually agree the gate entry price with the opposition. So please leave the excuses or at least make some that are believable.

If people don't want to pay an extra pound, let them go and watch a match of a lower standard.
