Surely then Spike, that means getting someone in there to convert the chances that the team are creating! Wouldn't that be best for the team! I'm not trying to lead a play Dominic campaign but i think you would be shocked at the amount of minutes Dominic has played this season! And were the minutes that he has played, in his right position as one of the front two!
We would all be happy if a top class , 20+ goal a season striker signed, but till that happens you try and get the best out of the players you have, and as much as i along with everybody else agree that TB has done a good job, i think he's not given Dominic enough playing time in his right position. If TB got everything right he wouldn't be managing Dartford cos i'd be leading a campaign for him to be giving Curbs a hand up at Charlton!!!

Fair enough Ponch, that's your opinion, but I have seen every Darts game this season so you are wrong to say I would be surprised how little Dominic has played. It is true that he has hardly had a sniff this year, but I believe that is simply because the players in the side have done so well. Last term we were not so good and he got lots of opportunities. He didn't do badly, but in my opinion the guys who have played this year have done a little bit better. I stand by what I have said, that when he has played for the first team he doesn't impose himself on the game and I genuinely don't think he has done enough to deprive someone else of a shirt. I don't want to get drawn into a situation where it seems as if I am picking holes in him though, because I do think he's a decent player and I am hoping that he will come through. At the moment it is my honest opinion that TB is getting it about right as far as team selection goes, but it's fair enough that you and I may have different views about that. Sorry, I'm not sure who you are so forgive me if I am wrong, but your final sentence did worry me a little bit and make me wonder whether you are looking at this as a supporter of Dominic Elmes, who happens to be at Dartford FC, or as a lifelong Dartford FC supporter. You see for me, if Tony Burman was getting EVERYTHING right, I would be fighting tooth and nail to keep him at DFC and not be encouraging him off to Charlton.

This subject should be on another thread now, what has it to do with Sittingbourne at home?

Great debate though and it should be carried on with, Gary will lock it soon because Arlesey is coming fast!

Start another thread lads.

I'll make this my last post on the subject because i don't want Gary getting the hump! Thats a fair comment you've ended up with and yes i'm afraid to say Charlton will always come first for me, but i would still want to see what i consider best 'in my opinion' for Dartford FC. You don't need to be a lifelong supporter to offer an opinion. Other posters have offered their thoughts and reasons of why Pully should be in the team and all i'm doing is the same for Dom. I'm not a supporter of him, but a supporter of a player with his ability!
I don't think you've been picking holes in Dominic and your posts have been objective. I've been in the position now of watching Dom for a few years, first for Gravesend and Northfleet and then Dartord and in this time he's been a prolific goalscorer! My argument is, if you can give Avery a run in the team like he has had, and if you go back through old postings he had a torrid time to start with, and in the position that he plays, then where is the 'gamble' of giving Dom a run in the side in his right position!
Take Dom out of the equation, and just look at a player that has been scoring for fun and top goalscorer for the last 3 or 4 years against the best youth sides in Kent and scored in the reserve games he has played!
I wouldn't even be posting on the subject if fellow posters were not complaining about the chances that are being wasted!
I've played this level of football as a striker, mind you it's the same at any level, 'confidence'!
Perhaps you've not seen the best of him at first team level because of the way he is being handled!

Sorry i didn't mention Sittingbourne!!!

I'm all for constructive debate, which this has been, but the time has come to lock the thread (I forgot about this earlier in the week) because of the new match approaching. Please feel free to reopen another thread because I feel this is worthy debate!
