i will NOT be at the arlesey game as i will be away on my weekend 60s bash but the 5th has promised me he will text me the result

arlesey are a decent side but are on the back of 2 losses against decent sides , having had a run of wins against teams from lower down the league [ still not easy to beat but ....]

this is a real 6 pointer but if the boys especially ryan and davie play like they did vs sittingbourne then arlesey could get a roasting [ sooner or later some ones going too]

so hopefully everyones fit , kev ,tony and richard keep it tight at the back and the result doesnt put a dampner on my week end

come on TB and the boys,  do your best for me !!!!!

To be honest its a home game so 3 points a must, a loss at lowly Uxbridge and only a draw at home to the  Brickies means that we have to get back to winning ways to maintain our challenge. Its crunch time, injury wise and we have not signed any fresh faces to liven things up.

Having said that the players will have had a rest after a busy period and will no doubt GFI and so should us, cheering them on.

Come on you Darts, we need to win this one.

Certainly an end to end game today with both teams having chances to score and both teams wasting chances, probably us more than them.

Some great saves from Kevin again to keep us in it and a fantastic off the line clearance by Richard Avery after Kevin had been beaten in the air by an Arlesey forward to keep the score at 0-0. Both teams had chances cleared off the line and had efforts hit the bar.

A great powerfull headed effort from Tony Henry from a corner which looked a cert to go in until an Arlesey defender managed to head clear from him line with Averys headed effort going wide.

Pulley ran his legs off but really a lot of the chances he again either wasted or when he could've released the ball to Ryan Hayes or other support he had he didn't and was greedy with it then lost the ball. At one point it was 2 against 1 with Pulley & Ryno clean through at goal with only 1 defender in the way but instead of Ian knocking the ball to Ryan who was absolutely clear on goal he didn't and tried to outrun & beat the defender, and to be honest stood no chance what so ever.

Domanic came on for Ryan Hayes with about 15 minutes left and did look dangerous when on the ball and was beating the opposition quite easily and IMHO he should be given a chance either a lot sooner in the game or even from the start. Pulley either has to have somebody working alongside him from the beginning as when Jimmy played up front OR play someone else in the middle and keep Ian on the bench and give him a run out possibly in the 2nd half or when required.

At times we were giving Arlesey far to much time and space on the ball and was constantly leaving their big fat No 11 unmarked and he certainly made use of this space especially in the 2nd half when he was looking very dangerous and was certainly getting in some telling crosses and shots at goal, he even had time for a bit of good natured banter with the supporters.

Arlesey were a good side and probably do deserve to be up the top end of the table the same as us and they gave us as good a game as they did at their place on the 1st day of the season. At the end of the game i overheard an official from Arlesey saying that he was over the moon with the way their team had played today and that it was a fantastic game of football and a great advertisement for the league.

I honestly feel that again it was 2pts dropped rather than 1pt gained but im sure that others will disagree with me. I only hope that we (Tony) can find a new forward very soon who can possibly convert the chances thats being created and can get in the box and read the game better as we really do seem to be struggling at the moment to get anyone one the end of Dave & Ryans crosses.

Whether it's the Radio Kent jinx or not, but yet another 0-0 result and 2 more dropped points at home, as was stressed by Kevin Hudson in his after match interview.

TONY'S FORMULA (3points home 1 away)
It's O.K. to be 3 points up on the away count played 14 with 17 points, but to remain unbeaten at home played 11 with 23 points means that's 10 dropped at home from 5 drawn games.

This is not good enough at home if we are to be considered contenders for a top 6 spot and Mondays and todays form has to be improved upon because a win never looked likely in either game.

Today but for the crossbar, an incredible goal-line clearance by Richard Avery and two saves from Kevin one of which was out of this world, we would have lost and apart from one header from a corner being cleared off the line we didn't really have any other chances to score.

We must have a replacement for Jimmy Carter, who in talking to him I understand that he will be out for around two months and may well have to have an operation.

Pulley did his best but with balls bouncing up over his head or him losing control on the deck, he offered little and when he was played through he either delayed too long or in a breakaway two onto one situation he tamely shot at goal when Ryan was unmarked screaming for the pass.

As usual Davy & Ryan were strong down the wings, but with nobody Eddie, Pully or Stevie in the box in scoring positions the moves were wasted.

We had few shots on target and most were well wide of goal and in the end we had to be grateful for a point, but this result makes the Wivenhoe game all the more important to win.

I'm sorry I cannot get more excited about todays result, but we rode our luck again and it cannot be blamed on one man alone the whole team has to do much better if we are to maintain our push for promotion or a top six spot.

Thankfully some of the results went our way again and we're still in 5th but with Waltham Forest closing up on us after their 1-0 win away to Chatham.

With Stamfords game away to Enfield called off we've now closed them down to 1pt but if we'd have won our game today we'd of gone above them by 1pt and been on the same games.

Corby lost 1-3 at home to Potters Bar so we've closed them down a bit to 5pts now with both Enfield Town and Boreham Wood gradually pulling away after both winning away 5-1 at Harlow Town & 1-0 at Great Wakering respectively.

The league table now stands as follows:

The players are giving their all, all is missing is the elusive goal, Pully next time play your mate in!

2 points outta 9 is not top form so a win next week (another home game) a must for me.

Good luck in the search for a much needed quality forward, TB.

I quite enjoyed the match, between two reasonably well matched sides. The first hald saw as play some good football, with excellent passing and possession, but the final ball, and occasionally the finish too, was missing.

I do feel for Pully though, and on occassions I felt he was trying just a bit too hard. I hope he isn't feeling the pressure from us fans, hopefully just a case of being desperate to take his long awaited chance in the team.

Quote from: 5th

On reflection (after the chance was missed!) it's easy to have a dig, but had the shot gone in, we'd have been well pleased.  I think we'd all accept (himself included) that Pully isn't the ideal lone striker, but all the time he keeps trying as hard as he did on Saturday, then I'm behind him. I was pleased though to see Dominic having a run, even if for just 15 mins, as I felt he gave as more options when he came on.

I think though, that there weren't that many clear cut chances anyway, despite plenty of good approach play, so on that basis, it's not all down to poor finishing.

Another good defence performance though, with Kev pulling off a couple of great saves to keep us in it, and I'm sure the goals will come soon, but remember, it's not all down to Pully!
