The Waltham Forest Away Thread - on Rambo's turf!
« on: January 14, 2006, 07:21:36 PM »

may have been you there, maybe not! i just saw some dude with a darts hat! lol

Anyway, i think we were very poor, and never got going until the last 5 mins in the 1st half. Wakering made a lot of noise, and we always seem to struggle against teams who do that!

If we play like that next week, you'll nock a fair few past us, as we simply aint good enough at the moment!

hello fg , the lunatic in the darts hat was me
your brief comments mirror my thoughts, you have a very young side and the start of the season you were flying with pace and confidence but i always thought you would struggle when the ground got sticky and heavy.
until you scored you were very bad but the last 5 of the first half vey good. i was expecting a lot of goals in the second but you never got going.
i think your inexperience shows most at the back, mark ward looks a great prospect but i think a big centre forward will give him trouble until he gets a couple of seasons behind him.
i was suprised to see wesley thomas not starting but mathew judge looked a great centre forward. if you keep judge thomas and mckenzie you still have a great chance of the play offs. we could do with one of them.
as for next week i think we will be too strong for you and am expecting a win for dartford but keep going because i want to see both of us in the playoffs

if you want to make a few quid i would put an extra body in the burger bar and get them ready for the start of the game and half time expect between 75 and 100 extra on the gate

If Forest Gump is right and their players can't handle a bit of noise then we should easily walk this game and they will be s******g themselves  :D but it's never as easy as that.

We constantly made noise for virtually the whole game last season and just managed to beat them 1-0 from a Stevie Haffner goal which just rolled in through the thick mud. Im expecting another difficult game and hopefully we will put on another performance like we did today but from what i recall Waltham Forests pitch gets very sticky and boggy with just a little bit of water.

I only hope that plonker with the drum doesn't turn up this time, although he couldn't play the damn thing properly last season.

As you could probably expect, there was practically no one there today, like most of our other games! Their few supporters were fairly quiet, it was their team which made all the noise. Havn't heard that much noise from a team in quite a while.

A couple of mins into the game their management staff got into a bit of verbal with one of our supports, which followed with our management getting involved! Both sets met on the half way line, but it was nothing more than handbags at 10 paces!

As for the drum, the geezer who normally does it did his back in, so i doubt it'll be there, but ill see if i can dig it out!  :D

If anyone wants to say hello to me ill be the 6footish young lad with the waltham forest jacket on, with AP initials on it!

remember this?! lol

Our match earlier this season was great, very clean, very fast paced and i think the draw was a fair result. You seem to be on a great run at the moment, and that 3-0 win today backs that up. We're very poor at home at the moment unfortunatly.

Our pitch is rather poor unfortunatly. But compared to a few seasons ago, its like playing at wembley (when its finished!)  Season before last we put a lot of money into a new drainage system, and we havnt had a game postponed since the 03-04 season! However, you'll be lucky to find a decent patch of grass come saturday!

TBs biggest job this coming week is to prepare our lad psycologically to play on a " poor pitch " cause weve had some " mares "  this season at places like rothwell and uxbridge and we need to play like we did on aveleys crappy pitch when we won well

so lets get over this " crappy pitch syndrone" and prove that the team really have matured !!!!!

we fands have travelled to some bl...y awful placesand not whinged so come on boys match our spirit  !!!

UP THE DARTS

nb can anyone suggest where that WF fan should stick his drum  ?????

there's actually a story behind the drum! When we played hornchurch when we were battling to stay up during the 02/03 season (our current managers first) Anyway, hornchurch were 2nd at the time, and we drew 1-1!  :D  But they put a full steel band behind our dugout! thus drowning our everything our manager said!

When it came to the reverse fixture, we put a full turkish band behind their dugout! That was the only time we saw them, but their drum still gets a wheeling out every now and then!

And nope, thats not me in the picture!

may as well have my low down on waltham forest so here goes

they played  4  4  2  throughout the game but somehow totally different from earlier in the season

previously the full backs pushed well beyond the midfield which sometimes put 6 in the middle and sometimes they overlapped and the wide midfielders tucked in. today the full backs did not push on at all. the captain (no3) is still there but the no2 chrysanthou was not there at all and the replacent(stevens) is far more defensive.in my opinion the defence did nothing other than defend.although bastion no3 is captain i dont think he should be and he probably feels this too and tries far to hard to impress and be captain. i think if you pressure him he will crack.both right backs whoever plays are not great and i can see both our wingers being heavily involved.
they have two good centre halfs  the little one, ward, is a great prospect but a year or two from being great, a bit weak physically.the other one is a good stopper.

they had three workers in midfield but the 4th player  who plays right wing , papy kanyuka is brilliant, he created the goal. he is fast and tricky.as tricky as tostao.he has to be watched.

the forwards were pretty good but had little supply, the new guy ,mathew judge, loked like a player that has played at a better level. watch him he does centre forward things, a natural.  mckenzie ,the other forward is very tall and quick. judge went off after 65 for wesley thomas who is also a very quick player. not as tall as mckenzie but probably quicker. all the forwards are naturals in their position.

the player missing was georgiou ( nickname bubble) he is a proper playmaker and i will be suprised if he dont play next week , you have to stop the ball getting to him.

as for the pitch, if it rains this week expect it to be very sticky. it is not awful, it has been much worse in the past but be aware it will be far from perfect.
as for their tactics it is definately 4  4  2 . they are a young team and they thrive on good form. if they get on top we will have a battle to stay in the game. but i feel their confidence is a bit low cos results  have gone a bit poor and the squad has been changed around to keep it fresh.

i am sure our support will scare them, if we can start well and score in the first 20 there is no coming back for them.

whatever we win by i hope they also make the playoffs , they run the club like a non league team should be and spend a lot of effort on youth in the area. i think their youth team got to the LAST 16 of the FA CUP beating  ORIENT WBA AND YEOVIL on the way

Well Rambo, at least you were spotted at WF today with your hat.

I'm surprised you are not already known as THE Darts supporter at WF given the number of games you have attended at WF.

Superb lowdown of the WF team with a great set of notes above, Rambo. No doubt Tony will pick up on the notes!!

pete most of them know ma as the dartford supporter but as it was cold i thought what the heck i'll wear my funny hat.you wear something like that at a non league ground and its no problem, at a league ground you would  probably be ejected or set upon. i also wore my replica 1977 european cup liverpool shirt !!

So I'm safe wearing my Tranmere shirt when I come down to Stonebridge Road  - Good.

Then everybody will recognize me as the Bishop of Tranmere, whose shirts are sponsored by WIRRAL, the local Borough Council.
