Cass must play !!!
What is the point of having a 16 goal striker if your putting him on the bench
I'm not saying he shouldn't play, I was just making an observation and I'll be quite happy with TB's selection whatever it is. I reckon Cass will prove to be a great signing and will probably play on Saturday (in a 4-4-2 formation), but if TB decides to go with the lone striker, it wouldn't surprise me if it was Pully.
Tony knows what he is doing, the results prove that. I think that one of the most important things he has done since he arrived is to improve team morale. (I know this because you dont get the players going around slagging him off behind his back). In my view, this is because he is fair and impartial, i.e. doesn't have favourites like his predecessor seemed to have and thinks before he opens his mouth. All TB's changes have been slow and measured, which is why we have been making steady progress. Contrast this with the previous incumbent whose team selection seemed to be half a dozen favourites plus 5 random names plucked out the phone book.
I don't think TB would ever allow team spirit to be destroyed by a situation where the other members of the squad perceived someone as a "Johnny Big Bananas" coming straight in and riding rough shod over the others. We came a little close to this when Tostao was at the club, and good as he was, there were one or two voices in the camp who felt he was treated a bit better than the rest. Once you start to get divisions in the team it can all fall apart very easily.
I think Tony's team selection is simply based on a combination of what is the best formation for each of our opponents, who played well for us in previous games and who is fighting to get in the team. Cass' record suggests he is a great signing, but I'm sure he'll have to fight for his place like all the others.
Having said all that, if Cass' record is anything to go by, it won't be long before he has made the shirt his own anyway.
