First of all 3 points, home win, mission accomplished, very pleased about that. The manor we did it, superb, always looking great going forward with pace and power and how we squandered so many great chances i'll never know!
Others have mentioned the ref and i agree that he was a bit of a plonker!
Our home form this season is good but we know that we have dropped points with the draws but if we can remain unbeaten at home it would be fantastic.

Well done to the fans again for getting behind the lads, we must keep it going.

Cass looks classy and i am sure that he will be a great asset to the Darts.
Keep it going Darts, the fans are 100% behind you.

A very good point Jason, we tend to praise the defence, keeper and wingers, but unless they are scoring we tend not to overlook deliberately but perhaps just to forget to mention the central midfield trio.

I think it's right to say Eddie and Briggsy were strong in the tackling department, winning lots of balls, with Eddie looking around and either running with the ball or playing some delightful short passes and one two's, whilst Briggsy took his time and on almost every occasion found our players with passes spread out to the wingers or across the pitch to Gary or Ossie.

Stevie Haffner, well we never know what to expect from him, always a wave or acknowledgement to the vocal fans at kick off and during the game and the first to applaud us at the finish, in between he gives 100% and he seems to pop up everywhere, including in the box for the first goal, for once a simple tap in instead of his usual spectacular efforts.

Hopefully this has re-dressed the balance of praise omitted in my match comments, this is a super team of players on or off the bench with the likes of Darren, Jimmy and Kevin injured but not forgotten, plus the loyal band of fans just short of the 280 today, but I'm sure this will increase as the season progresses.

a couple of really good posts regatrding "unsung" menbers of the team

perhaps it is time to spread the vocal support around a bit and make sure that over a period of say a month that EVERY member of the team gets a spewcial cheer eg  " theres only one ....... " or similar

i dont want it to be false or mechanical but the likes of gary carter , richard, ozzie , briggs seldom get an individual but i for one would like them to know that they are just as important as the perceived  "flair players " , hope TB can get the message through !!!!!!

as for briggsy , he is actually a very good technical player who never looks to waste a ball [ which sometimes gets him into trouble ] and recently has got a bit more devil in his play [ one of the things i liked about him at E & B] and with as many as 4 pushing forward completes a very good holding role

the players reaction to the fans is appreciated and i feel sure that we do contribute vocaly when playing well and also when the chips are down

SO LETS SPREAD IT BOYS IT CAN ONLY DO GOOD  !!!!!!

A really enjoyable match to watch, and I still can't quite work out how we only won by one goal!

A very promising debut by Brendan, who looked very lively and dangerous up front, and it was good to see him get a goal too, even though my Mum would have put that away after the quality of the cross from Dave Martin! Still, he was in the right place, and that's what counts for a good striker.

Like others have said, I felt the midfield was excellent. Ryan Briggs had, IMHO, his best game for the Darts so far, and Eddie and Haff were excellent too. Dave and Ryan on the flanks were as dangerous as ever, and Dave's all round play in chasing back, tackling and closing down was excellent, oh and making a monkey out of their full back time and time again. Just to round off a really good all round performance, the back four and Kevin all looked solid too.

We didn't move up the table at all as Stamford won as well, but we've now opened up a seven point gap over the team beneath us, so it's still lookin' good.

Come on you Darts!

daveT totalloy agree with your post but isnt it great to have someone whose natural instincts take him into a position where you can just tap the ball in and secondly we could have used your mum in TS reign as no one else ever got into those positions !!!!

So much for my theory about starting with Pully!!!

It was a great all round team performance but for me, Ryan Briggs was absolutely outstanding on Saturday, easily the best game I have ever seen him play. How we didn't win by a shed load is beyond me, but hey its the points that count. Just one thing I would say, I do have some sympathy with the referee because from where I was standing I thought it was a penalty too. I was a long way from the incident and I'm prepared to accept that I may have been wrong, but it looked to me for all the world as if Tony Henry's hand had come out and stopped the ball from passing. I wish we could see it on replay, but at the end of the day I suppose it doesn't really matter as we got the points that we deserved. The important thing is that we all got a thoroughly good afternoon's entertainment, Brendan got a goal on his debut, the unbeaten home record continues and the team got three more valuable points. All in all a very successful afternoon's work.

I think you must have been - I felt Briggsy was fantastic. Didn't feel anyone had a bad game particularly, but Ryan and Haffy were particularly good for me.

Quote from: Jason
Time to praise an often over-criticised department of the team, the centre of midfield. I thought Briggs and Eddie were superb today.

Well that makes at least three of us.

Don't get me wrong Xavi, because I have felt all season that the centre of our midfield was soft. Hand on heart, I thought Spriggs and Briggs were the glaring weakness in an otherwise sound looking team. I like to think however, that I am honest enough to admit when I am wrong. Briggsy has been getting steadily better, culminating in what I honestly believed was a really good performance on Saturday, in my view the best he's had since he joined us. Pure DFCWeb and Jason's quote above (plus 5 or 6 others I have spoken too), suggests there were quite a few of us "watching a different game" to you, but hey, that's football.

Fare point Spike, but from where I'm standing our central midfield including Briggs still gives the ball away far too much.  Maybe it's the position you stand at that you miss the amount of times our central midfield give the ball away.

I'm not one to be defeatist but to me it still is a big problem, someone to win the ball in midfield.  I wasn't saying that Briggs was crap, he is an improving player, but still has quite a way to go.

we have got to bare in mind that the opposition apart from one player was a glorified pub team

i think briggsy gets exposed as the others all charge forward and leave him alone in the midfield so he becomes a bit of a target for unfair critiscm - obviously TB is happy with him

i repeat that i think technically he is very good but several good performances [like  the barton game ] would convince me but in the long run we may have to sacrifice one of our midfield flair players [ exciting as it is ] to bring in a bit of class muscle , especially if we were to get promoted cause i think better teams would expose us

i also cant wait to see brendan play alonside james carter as he will fill his boots,  better than in a 4-5-1 formation  !!!!!

Am I right in assuming that Brendan was the one wearing red boots. All I got to see was the kick off as I had to get my rather sick & dented citroen back home in daylight due to it being attacked by a bloke on a hair dryer outside the gates before kick off. (In English) My car was hit by a bloke on a scooter and the flying citroen is now in the body shop!

Thanks by the way to all the DFC fans & the photographer for stopping & helping out. Very much appreciated.

Well done to TB and the boys, great result.

PS - do you think I should go back to being Custard?

Well it might be a good idea. Yellow is a much higher visibility colour, so makes it easier for boy racers on scooters to see you.

Without a doubt, Brigg's best game for us yet. Much better than the game where he won Man of the Match. For me, he was the best player on the pitch.

Couldn't agree more about Briggs, had a great game.  It seems that sitting behind Haffy and Eddie, knowing he's the holding midfielder suits him.  He also gets that extra second to pick a pass as he's playing in the hole.

I remember saying he was playing well a couple of weeks ago, long may it continue.
