in ALL of the games against uxbridge we have been out fought and even bullied as they are at best  " a very physical side " and at worst " a dirty side " and they get results on this basis , last week 2 down at barking and came back to win 3-2

big test of charactor for our boys , in football terms we should win but we need to stand up to this lot and battle/bottle it out as like most bullies they will fall apart

i.m not suggesting we kick them but to get stuck in , win the ball and play football and we should then get 3pts

its a mid week game , hope there will be a decent [ vocal]  crowd of dart fans [ uxbridge usually only bring 6 away at best !!] with a good atmosphere [ night games usually help]

Good warning Duke.

In fact the lads need to be up for it in every game, as every game will tend to become a cup match as we head towards the end of the season.

No doubt, TB will be well aware of the dangers of this sort of game and will take the appropiate decisions and team talk.

Let's get over the disappointment of Ramsgate quickly - and keep our league form going !!

Apart from Dave Martin taking a bit of stick (which is not surprising since full backs get frustrated as there's no other way they can stop him), I don't think Uxbridge were particularly physical, let alone dirty. Maybe I'm a bit old school, but to be honest, I can't remember seeing any side in our division that I would call dirty. I think we lost fair and square at Uxbridge and that it was primarily down to them playing better than us on the day. The difference is, we were miles below our best whereas I suspect they were pretty close to theirs. If we produce our usual home form we should get the win. I hope so because they have given us two good pastings in the past year so it would be nice to get our own back.

To be fair, we were very, very poor at Uxbridge & I think they played quite well on that ploughed field of theirs. Having said that, we have enough in our locker to potentially stuff 'em at home if Ryan & Dave can get free down the wings.

At the Uxbridge away match I didn't see a dirty team or even a very physical one. What I saw was one team that badly wanted to win the match and one that didn't look too bothered if they won or not. On the day we had one player who spent so much of the first half with his head down looking at his feet, I thought Tony had written instructions on his boots. There was some bizarre refereeing. I have a theory that the referee spent the previous evening brushing up on the laws of the game without realising that he had picked up the rulebook for a completely different sport, although I still haven't worked out which sport it was. This did not however directly influence the outcome of the match.
Anyway, time for revenge!

Stamford had an easy win today so without building any pressure up a must win game to keep tabs on them.

the other results [ except] stamford] went for us yesterday with waltham forest, barking and wivenhoe all losing so the games they had in hand have proved to be virtually worthless and we are 5th on merit as they are well behind us with same number of games - we are in a good position for play offs

however as greg says we need 3pts on tuesday vs uxbridge and hopefully the regular guys will be there full of vocal support as it will be a key factor

Due to my system going down at work I was unable to comment on the Ramsgate game - sorry for my delay but here goes.

I was appalled to hear that there was a section of DFC fans being critical about the team last Tuesday - to those fans I say this.

This time last year Dartford was dead & buried and to be honest the kent cup to a team 2nd or 3rd from bottom was a very important thing to go for. However this season DFC is now a top 6 team, with a chance of outright promotion. So I don't blame the management for putting out a team which includes fringe players and/or players from the reserves because to be honest this cup was at this stage in the clubs history a distraction at best.

I'm not sure if promotion if we get it is a good thing or not - ie our first season in the new ground being a relegation battle may not be the best thing. I'd rather our first season be as a potential promotion team but if we were promoted this season then it would be absolutely fantastic.

What I'm saying is be thankful for what we've got. Had the board seen fit and not asked TB to stand in this club may very well be in the Kent League & going nowhere.

If I was TB I'd have sent out a "weakened side" last tuesday. Promotion/a playoff place is on the cards & let's not forget that.

This team is good enough for mid table in the league above, IMHO, Ramsgate were not that great Tuesday and we have a gifted young goalscorer now and are in the hunt for another midfielder. Lets put mi

Your other points are magnificently put.

Put it this way, I cannot see any downside to getting promotion. Still we have to actually do it yet!

With Ryan suspended for 5 bookings, how do you reckon we'll line up tomorrow? I'm thinking maybe the 4-4-2 with Pully and Brendan up front, but I guess we could include Craig Maguire as the extra midfielder.

That is a good question Gary, I fancy that Haffy will go wide for Ryan with Maguire playing in the  middle.
