I would quote what the Uxbridge player said to me to get him sent off, but I think it'd breach the Terms and Conditions of the site! All I can say is, it involved the letters F and C repeated about 10 times in the space of 20 seconds.

whilst ryan briggs for me is too some timely, can be really good one week and very poor the next , it is NOT FAIR to blame him any more than anyone else for the very poor performance against uxbridge as only davie martin and kev came out with any credit

i reckon to be one of the"  noisy choir " with the major emphasis on supporting our team and also winding up the oppos with good natured banter but the posts have highlighted a " nasty element creeping in " which is totally unecessary and will drag the clubs genuine fans , who are respected in our league , into an area we dont want to be

i go to the game to enjoy it , not to be close to idiots who continually  f and blind and if it continues i will deposit my body in another part of the ground that is " an idiot free zone "

looking forward to the rothwell game and hopefully a return to normality !!!!!

I haven't stood with the choir for most of this season, not only because I prefer standing behind a goal, but because I feel that there's too many "idiots" around who don't do the club any favours. My opinion only, obviously, but thats why I choose not to stand on the touchlines.

Personally, I just can't see the point of abusing a player who has scored twice in 20 mins, because at the end of the day, if they go on to win, he will (quite rightly) give it back "big time" at the final whistle, and who looks stupid then?

I agree to a certain extent, but when there's an ex-chelsea player playing he's going to get some stick and he should have the composure to ignore 20 Darts fans(it's no wonder he didn't make it in the big time if he can't handle 20, how's he going to handle 20,000??).  If he gives it to us big time, then fair play, that's up to him.  But if he gives some friendly banter back(like the small fat geezer at wivenhoe that Anthony mentioned) then our banter then also turns friendly, I'm sure if the Wivenhoe player had turned round and stuck his fingers up then we'd have had this conversation weeks ago!

There for me is the esscence of the point, most of the time the barracking is good natured and funny but when (rarely) a player decides to be abusive and not join in with the banter it becomes a slanging match!

Personally i have always enjoyed mickey taking (i have been the victim on many occasions) it usually is met with laughter on and off the field and why take this bastion of fun away? I agree that some swear words should not be used but it works both ways, stop the players/coaches swearing and we will follow, its been said its part of the game!

Keep it cleanish but if it makes me an idiot to be part of the choir then sue me!

I don't mind the piss taking, and I don't even mind the bad language. I just think it makes us look a bit juvinile when we've got some fans standing by the touchline at the end of the game offering out one of their players

it has been said that swearing is part of the game of football but it doesnt have to be.people swear when passion gets the better of them or when they are under pressure.
the game can be played without swearing and if players are sent off for swearing and supporters ejected it will stop immediately.swearing doesnt impress or frighten me and if my children were young enough for me to take them to matches , i would be embarressed to have them hearing the swearers.
i am sure people can make as much noise as they want in the main choir or in smaller groups and create a great atmasphere without effing and blinding.
basically swearing is a substitue for a lack of meaningful words

"Who's the silly person in the black"
"We've got a little message for you...go away"
"Excrement club, no fans"
"You fat illegitimate child"
-Just a few new songs for the guys to sing this weekend ! Crikey, how can you stop people from swearing at football it's part and parcel of the game I'm afraid.
Shame that after three or four posts about the game the focus of this thread seems to have been focused on the abuse. The abuse was actually instigated by Mark Nicholls who, very early on in the game began interacting with the crowd (a professional trait perhaps ??) and then began throwing w*nker signs. He knew the reaction he was going to get and he was then public enemy number one. I don't believe abuse from the stands spurred him on, in fact he gave away a penalty late on from which we could have equalised. I thought he was very average in a very poor team. If people are offended which clearly they are, most people know one another well enough, pull them to one side and have a quiet word...just don't swear at them! Oh, and it was a very poor display from the Darts.

OK Don, I give up. If he started it, that's ok then  :?

Clearly the vast majority of posts on this thread seem to accept that the levels of abuse and bad language went over the mark, but you and one or two others can't see it.

I've never advocated no swearing or no banter with opposing players. Like most things in life, it's all about knowing where to draw the line, and respecting what the vast majority of decent people find offensive.

I just think its people jumping on the DFC Web bandwagen and stinks of double standards a bit. Yes, perhaps some of the baiting was wrong, but shouting and swearing I think the vast majority of posters on here were involved in. If I'm wrong then have a word with the 20 or so people chanting abusive songs at the Uxbridge side. Anyway, thats all from me, I'm off to the moon perhaps there will be some atmosphere up there...

I'll be glad when this thread is locked, so we can forget about it and move on, i've heard a lot worse at a Dartford game, swearing or no swearing we have loud outstanding vocal support, long may it continue, opposition teams with no fans shouldn't resort to doing the fans jobs in their absence!
