after back to back (ouch that hurts!) home defeats can we bounce back ?

We will have goal getter Cass back and the usual loud (no swearing) away support.

Discuss when you are ready.

Having just read an article in the paper posted elsewhere, I know that nearly all the regular away Darts fans will be there ready to cheer the team on, with the two defeats forgotten.

Then who knows if we can win the next two away games, the Enfield Town game at home will seem all the more interesting and will certainly see our best crowd of the season, perhaps with a good few knew Darts supporters turning up.

Home defeats, water under the bridge, now there's new points to be had and a play off place to be secured.

Matches are never played on paper so everyone must totally ignore the league table and treat this vital away match as a cup final, yes sounds dramatic but we need to start over with a win and play with no fear and listen to Tony, put a smile on your faces and enjoy it.

Come to think of it, EVERY game must now be treated as a cup final, play to our strengths do the basics and stop the over use of hopeless long balls down the middle, Jimmy is injured!

Use the wingers, keep up with them and get in the middle! (Cass returns so use him).

just read TBs notes and i hope ALL darts fans can relate to them as the message is loud and clear  !!!!

forget the other team , we need to get 100% behind OUR boys , however they are playing , difficult if playing below par but TB is working his butt off to achieve and anything less than 100% from us is cheating him !!!!!

so suggest that any whingers stay at home and leave the real support to the fans who are 100% behind the team whatever the result

im sure that ALL of the regular away fans will give it 100% this saturday and set the standard for the rest of the season

Berkhamsted sneeked a point off us at Stonebridge Rd back in October, so they could be expecting to think they can get all three points at their home game. So it's up to us to disappoint them big style by bouncing back strongly after our two home defeats - and we can.

I had an uneasy feeling in my bones about those last two results, especially when others were thinking it was going to be an easy 6 points - and I was proved right. However, I am also feeling we can do it this weekend, especially if we have players returning to the squad, because in fairness, we have lost the services of useful players these last couple of matches.

Also, if talk of play offs have been getting to the players, then looking again on the positive side, it's good that the players are experiencing these  feelings now in preparation for the games we get if we do make it to the play offs. I think TB only has to remind the players just how well they have performed in the FA Trophy this season in fromt of biggish crowds - and all games to the end of the season are cup ties!

Again, I have enjoyed reading Tony's notes, despite the disappointment of the recent results, and one can also sense Tony's own disappointment in his writing of his notes because he knows the boys are capable of better than played in recent matches despite missing some players. I also liked his comments of winning together - or losing together - as a team.
Yes we are doing better than anybody imagined at the start of the seaon - and we mustn't forget that. For me, Tony and the boys have given us the anticipation and hope this season that has been missing for several seasons - and still on a limited budget.

GO FOR IT BOYS.

Having twice chosen to forget Tony's instructions, be it the youth of some players or the panic to clear the ball up field, let's hope that they get back to basic's and remember that we try to play the ball out of defence and find the wingers through the midfield.

With Brendan back I hope that the quality crosses can be converted as he must not be starved out of the game, but given the ball inside the box.

He is a striker out and out, not a goal scorer who is expected to rush back defending or having to go looking for the ball. (You didn't see Greaves or Lineker getting involved too often, just sticking the ball in the net)

Lets all get vocal away on Saturday and lift the whole team towards a win and three points.

won 2 , drew 3 ,  lost 1 , they beat stamford and  chatham and drew with rothwell , uxbridge and arlesey,  so they aint no mugs  !!!

in fact currently they are in better form than we are !!!

this will be a real test of charactor for our lads after the recent set backs

Exactly Duke.

It's what I've been saying all season. Even the teams at the bottom of the league this season have been taking it in turns to climb off the bottom of the table, something that hasn't happen for the past few seasons, when they have put mini runs together. No team in this league can be regarded as a walkover - even Potters Bar have had their moments!

Waltham Forest, who some have regarded as one of the stronger sides have fallen into a bigger poor run than ourselves. So the warning about Berkhamstead is timely, although I firmly believe we can get a result there on Saturday. Time will tell!

I hope you're right Trev, but I'm interested in how you can be so sure about all this when we've only seen Brendan in two and a bit games. Unless you have seen him play several times for his previous club, there isn't much to go on to form such an opinion yet. The first game he hardly got a touch, the 2nd he played very well and scored a simple tap in, and the third he was completely uninvolved in the game and (in my opinion) the least effective player on the pitch. I believe that he probably will (if we give him better service) turn out to be a very good player, partly because he has a very good goalscoring record but mainly because I trust Tony Burman's judgement. We have been caught out in the past by believing the hype about some of our signings though, so I will reserve my judgement at this time. I will be happy to describe him as an "out and out goalscorer" after he has scored a few goals for us, rather than coming to that assumption based on the fact that in the first few games he hasn't done any defending or gone looking for the ball. So far though the jury is still out.

Looking forward to him proving you right on Saturday!

Quite right Duke but are they better than us ??? Look at our last 12 games

Won 5 Drawn 4 Lost 3

If we continue this for the last 12 games we will be there or there abouts for the final play off place. 70 points snatched it last season so this is very achieveable. We all know its about confidence, let's all start being positive about the final run in, evryone at the club knows we can make the play offs let's remain focused on picking up as many points as we can starting this Saturday. Keep the faith, stick together (on and off the pitch !) and we can all look forward to an exciting finale to the season. TB am the man !!

i was really just making the point that they will be no pushover

in TBs last notes he states that the team have to get back to the previous basics that got us so many points , if he can do that we will be o k , not easy to get out of poor runs but i am like the rest of you wanting to get into the play offs

The thing is - where's the bad run ?? We've only lost our last two - OK the performances haven't been great but we are still play off material !! Two defeats on the bounce is no disaster !

I know you're not whinging old boy- I'm just trying to put a positive slant on things again ! And the positive is that we've taken 9 points from the last 8 games !!!! You can take the boy out of Dartford, but you can't take Dartford out of the boy ! Your mum says OOOOHHH AAARRRGGHHH.

It makes a nice change to be able to stick up for the Duke, but to be fair Don, he never said we were having a "bad run" so you cant really ask him to explain about it. The phrase he used was "recent set backs" and nobody can deny that having gone all season without a home defeat, two on the trot is definitely a set back! In fact, if you count the defeat at Ramsgate in the Kent Senior Cup, its actually 3 defeats on the trot so by this season's high standards, it is a bit of a dip.

I think Duke's point was simply that although they are down the bottom, over the last six games, Berkhampstead have actually hit a little bit of form whereas during the same time we have stumbled slightly. Of course we are still good enough to make the play offs, but I think Duke is just warning of the danger of being fooled by the relative league positions. Take Saturday's game for granted and we'll come a cropper! It makes sense to me.
