Spike if you're going to attempt to have a pop then at least name me in your comments as it's pretty obvious who it's aimed at.
5th - It wasn't obvious to me, I had no idea until I read your reply. When I wrote my previous posting it was a general observation on this and many previous threads and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I couldn't even remember who had said what. A bit unfair I know, but if anything, the only person who sprang to mind was Duke, because great bloke though he is, we have pretty much come to accept that we hardly ever agree on anything and I kind of have this mental image of Duke in my head as a visual representation of all or any opinions that are contrary to my own. (I agreed with him once and he was so shocked he invited me to tea).
Anyway, going back to Ronaldo's posting, I think he was only expressing the view held by quite a few of us, that Brendan's game doesn't fit the role he has been given and we are becoming doubtful that it ever will. Maybe the phrase "contributes nothing" was a bit harsh, but Ronaldo also said that he wasn't convinced
yet, which implies that even he hasn't given up on Brendan entirely and hopes he will still come good.
In truth, I don't really think most of us are that far apart in our views, only in the way in which they are demonstrated. Those who have leapt to Brendan's defence, have done so by referring to the goals he scored for Chatham and the fact that he needs more time in an unfamiliar role. In other words, even they are accepting of the fact that it's not working at the present moment but are hopeful that it will in the future ... which if I'm not mistaken is exactly what Ronaldo's "YET" means.
Anyway, there's so much good stuff happening at the moment that I don't want to get into a long debate about something negative. 5th I genuinely wasn't intending to "have a pop" at anyone so please don't take it personally. I will be there on Saturday as always, and would be absolutely delighted to see Brendan come good and put myself, Ronaldo and the other doubters firmly in our place. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing.
