Didn't do too well today on the ticket selling front. Sold 13 (£65) Then again 65 quid is 65 quid. We have sold 7 on e-bay so it is all adding up. Difficult to get enthussiastic about fund raising after such a dissappointing game. We will keep going. Might try to sell a few more at one more home match if it is no effecting the normal raffle.

No problem with that, it doesn't seem to be effecting the normal raffle at all.

No criticism of T.B. he changed the line up and I thought it worked very well in the first half with two up front and with Glen staying up and Brendan dropping back as Potters Bar took goal/free kicks.

Chances were created with the equalizer coming just on half time and I went into the bar on a reasonable high, expecting alot more in the second half.

But in the second half another defensive mistake almost straight from the kick off saw us go 2-1 down, then the heads really dropped and it just went on downhill from there.

Second half very little football from us but lots of punting up field from the back, midfield giving the ball away with poor passing or giving it to players too closely marked when others were in space and up front very few chances created or taken.

Eddie and Brad did their very best to get stuck in, plus I thought that Gary Carter was unlucky to be substituted as he was having a better game this week.

Otherwise a below average performance from the rest of the team, with one player in particular annoying several of the fans around me with a lack lustre display and a failure to track back or get involved second half and eventually being substituted to their relief.

Not good enough, we have the same squad of players plus two new ones and have played against some poor teams recently (excluding Enfield Town & Barking) and have looked decidedly worse than them.

Players get your acts together, we have around 260/275 regular loyal supporters turning up each home game and are taking 75-100 supporters to away matches, all intent on paying out good money to get in and watch a game of football not half a game and are still putting their hands in their pockets to contribute extra funds for the club by several different means.

All we ask of the players is to give 100% for the whole game, not just for us, the directors or the club alone, but especially for the one man who never stops giving 100% along with his two deputies, you owe it to Tony, Steve and Paul to prove you have the right to be on the pitch for 90 minutes and to show them they were right to have faith in you as being the best players to wear the Darts shirts with pride for the club and the fans.

We have some very good players this year, probably the best crop of talent since we reformed. We were doing extremely well playing 4-5-1 for the best part of this season. This was because we had Jimmy Carter up front and he was excellent in this role. Someone pointed out to me on Saturday that since Jim was injured we have won only twice in 12 games. In my view, this is because we have nobody who comes close to playing that role well enough ... although Pully was slightly better at it than Cass. We therefore either have to change the system (which when we've tried it, tends to expose the lack of a decent ball winner in midfield) or find a SUITABLE replacement for Jimmy.

We have a team full of youngsters at the moment which bodes well for the future, but the downside of that is that young players are notoriously inconsistent. The second half was woeful on Saturday and the play-offs are beginning to look like a distant pipe-dream, but I would ask all Darts fans to remember that before the season started we would have been happy with mid-table so lets keep things in perspective. Promotion would be a nice bonus, but it's next year that really counts. I genuinely believe we are only a couple of players away from having a bloody good side here for next season, so lets stay with the programme and give our young stars all the support we can to help them through this bad spell.

Its never as good or as bad as it seems.

Duke:

I assume with your comment your having a pop at me with the comment below

"i wondered how long it would be before the 1st of the R C S B responded !!!"

Are you saying that this was a high quality performance?  I will complement when we play well and criticise when we play rubbish.  Boy saturday was rubbish when quite a few players just didn't turn up.

We have had a brilliant season and the expectations are far higher and it just wasn't good enough.

Have to agree with a lot you wrote Spike. Just can't make any comment on the playing formation. Everything else is right.

Although I haven't seen the team play this season, I am coming down for the Borehamwood match. However, the loss of Jimmy Carter has I believe been a big factor in our form since his injury, mainly because of his style and the fact he was playing consistently well and receiving rave reports from posters.

I've always said there is no easy game in this division - or any division.
Proved I think by Saturday's result, especially considering we recently won 4-1 away at Potters Bar !  It is a very fine line between success and failure - and I have been seeing the same throughout the season with Tranmere Rovers whereby we started as promotion favourites, ended up in the relegation zone and pulled away again to a top half position. There have been games when we have been lacklustre, but never a team to be rolled over, but non the less, not getting the goals to secure the points. Defensively, we have conceded 38 goals in 37 games, so not too many problems there. Unfortunately, no goals often means no points, even if the performance and efforts deserve something more out of the game.

It seems much the same with the Darts this season. The difference is that we weren't really expecting to be in the play off challenge - and we are, so our expectations have risen correspondingly. I said earlier in the season that if we end up in a promotion spot of play offs, we will be there on merit. Unless we return to getting points in the bag, then it would seem we will be staying in this division, not being quite up for it and not quitw ready for a higher division yet. But as Spike says, we do have a good crop of youngsters coming through, as the recent reserve results show, and with the likes of players like Brendan Cass being brought in by Tony, the foundations are there for next season far better than last year when Tony was picking up the pieces.

Nevertheless, I still live in hope we can return to winning ways and back on track for the play offs. Ever the optimist !!

As I was writing the above post, Tony's notes have just been posted - and his comments are as honest as ever.

It seems we are in agreement and looks like we are both saying the same thing.

So keep the Faith. Tony knows where he wants us to be.

Just to clarify Xavi, When Duke refers to the "RCSB" he means Rose Coloured Spactacles Brigade ... i.e. People who look at the world through rose coloured spectacles and see things as much better than they are. How on earth could you possibly come to the conclusion that he was referring to you when you described Saturday's game as rubbish (which pretty much backed up what he had himself already said). If anything, you were the one person who he most areed with!!!

Having said that, the only other posting on here between the two in question was Ronaldo's which said something to the effect that Duke's original posting was the "best laugh he'd had for ages". I took this comment at face value but Duke's comeback appears to suggest that he felt Ronaldo was being sarcastic ... although there is nothing written to support this.

It never fails to amaze me on here that it doesn't matter what actual words you write, people just read them and hear something entirely different. Half the arguments that take place on this board are between people who hold the same views but fail to express them properly and end up slagging each other off which they would never do face to face. Ronaldo was right when he made his comment about better use of English, (and got slammed for it), because its hard to have a debate with someone unless both parties read and understand the same language.

hey spike , youre starting to worry me and starting to get very much closer to a sunday tea invite so you'd better back off !!!

some posters are more touchy than others but i try very hard not to be personal on the web but am happy to have [ and for others to have] their say face to face !!!!!

because 99% of dart fans care,  then opinions get expressed [ usually without targetting individuals ] and sometimes we go OTT but id rather have that than no one give a f...

i believe TB has learnt a lot about certain individuals  charactor over the past 6 weeks , will be interesting to see if they survive long term !!!!

honest xavi - i dont mean you !!!!!

This more or less is spot on and is echoed in TB's Monday brief.

Having played so well and actually challenging for auto promotion it is indeed 'gutting' to be 'falling away' and us loyalists although going through the frustration and hurt that losing brings on, we know what is round the corner and if the squad is strengthened in the summer with the cream of the current players there is no reason why we cannot mount a serious challenge.

100% behind our own special one, lets stay behind the club because it's worth it.
