I thought we played quite well again today against a very organised Boreham Wood side. We took the lead, Richard Avery stabbing home probably the softest goal of the season. Boreham Wood equalised from the penalty spot (I incidentally thought Tommy Osborne was lucky to stay on after the foul - goalscoring opportunity and all that).

We then retook the lead with a deflected Ryan Hayes freekick before half-time. Second half was tougher, and we probably should have seen Boreham Wood down to 10 men after their player pulled back Dave Martin on the edge of the area, but seeing how Tommy was lucky to stay on, a yellow was probably consistent. Mr Johnson decided not to leave the match at 11 each by sending off someone for what seemed to be verbal abuse.

Brendan spurned a good chance just before Wood equalised, and it ended 2-2 after 11 minutes of 2nd half stoppage time.

First of all a big well done to the Darts today for the performance it shows us all that we can compete but we should have won! A massive opportunity to make ground on the play offs as Waltham Forest lost today and Wivenhoe won.  Poor Cassie how did he not score that one on one?

Glad to see you've calmed down Kebabus after earlier !! Having read the report on Kentish Football site it does seem that we were unlucky not to take all the points - but we would have taken a point before kick off. Four games to go, Wivenhoe have to play Waltham Forest so four wins and we're in the play offs by my reckoning !!

posting late having just returned from an evening at trevBs and the 5ths

very entertaining game today and we thoroughly deserved our point which should have been 3 but  as usual had the chances but didnt kill them off , not whinging but we must become more ruthless !!!

the whole team played well but if KEVIN HUDSON doesnt get a player of the season award then there just aint no justice,  again, as many times this season , he was terrific

I dont quite understand why with a strong substitute bench of billiness, macquire and carter why fresh legs arent pushed on with 20 minutes to go ??????

COME ON  " AWAY FANS " ,  VOTE FOR KEVIN - WE OWE HIM !!!!!!

so team confidence should be high and ready to get the 6 points over the easter week end to pressurise wivenhoe and waltham forest and get out of the reaches of the others wh oare a bit to close for any comfort !!!

Strange feeling tonight, we should all feel happy that we won a point against the top team.  We should feel like we got a win today after that performance, but somehow it feels to me like we lost. :-(

Should have had a penalty, the bloke with bird doo doo in his hair should have got sent off and we shouldn't have missed a couple of those chances.  But then, they could have had another penalty, Ozzy might have been sent off(in true Wenger style I'm not sure I saw it clear enough to comment, looked like a theatrical fall, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a foul) and Hudson had no right to make a couple of those saves!

I guess I should feel happy and proud of the lads, they worked hard today, all 11 of them and they deserved the 3 points.  I'm sure in the morning I'll look at the result and be happy.  I just hope the players can be happy and can add to the recent confidence that's been showing, they should do that's for sure!

My prediction about the remaining fixtures seems accurate so far and for the record we're 1 point ahead of my realistic target, Forest lost as my inkling told me, which is a big boost to us.  I think that we still have at least 10 points in us and that Wivenhoe are the team to beat.  If they win all their games they're in the play offs (we can also hope that Wivenhoe show some more signs of how they're as consitently inconsitent as us!).   From a Darts point of view let's hope that they only get a point against Waltham Forest on Friday enabling us to take the driving seat into our last 4 games!

Leaving on a bright note, we're a point closer to a playoff position this morning than we were yesterday Morning!

Come on you Darts!

I'm still  feeling down this morning TLD but agree with your comments, Darts a draw was a fair result on the number of chances for both teams, as we missed a golden chance to take a 3-1 lead and but for Kevin they could have had 4 or 5.

Take into the Chatham game the knowledge that we held our own against Boreham Wood and Corby, plus we should have won not lost against Enfield Town, the whole team playing well on each occasion and but for the missed chances in each game we could have had a different result.

So the simple answer  is take more of those chances and try to make the game safe and not let in any late goals, a win against Chatham then on to Enfield Monday.

I said it was simple  so Tony ensure they lay off of the Easter eggs until after the matches, seriously though i'm looking forward to The weekend as are most Darts fans and whilst there is still an outside chance of a play off place we still have something to play for and it's better to have something to play for than nothing.

As a team, the Darts played very well yesterday. Kevin Hudson, in particular, was superb. A draw was probably a fair result, but at 2-1 we had a golden opportunity to go 3-1 up which surely would have killed the game off. I am convinced that our failure to kill off games when we have had frequent similar opportunities has cost us a shed load of points in recent games. I don't wish to unleash anyone's "fury" again, but I wish I understood what others can see that I am obviously missing.

Rest assured Spike it was me not you who failed to see what perhaps was obvious  and several others are feeling the same way now, still we all need to be proven wrong, so let's hope that Chatham is a game to prove a point and get us three.

It was a great performance by the lads yesterday with everyone battling for each other and giving 110% especially for Kevin Hudson who seemed to turn into Superman for the day and flew all over the goal he was absolutely outstanding.

Against a very good strong and quick Borehamwood team who obviously had a lot of experiance between them and caused us quite a few problems for the whole 90 minutes i think we stood up to them excellantly and gave them a real game and probably gave them quite a scare.

From where i was standing i don't honestly think it was a penalty to them from Tommy Osbournes challange, yes he did nudge the back of the player but he seemed to go down far far to easily to me for his size, it was as though he'd been poll axed from behind and as normal Gary Johnson fell for it.
Where as when we should've clearly been awarded a penalty for the challange on Dave Martin when the defender who was the last man pulled Dave down the ref was going to give absolutely nothing until he saw the linesman had flagged so he had no real choice but even then he had to speak to his assistant first when the ref was in a very good position to have seen what had happend.

At the end of the day as others have said we would've probably settled for a point before the game had kicked off but i like many others came away from the ground feeling more like we'd lost rather than drawn the match. Why do we keep conceeding these late goals all of the time to throw it all away. We had chances to finish Wood off especially 1 great chance but we just couldn't seem to do it and we let them back in again.

I as well as a few others are starting to see things a bit more from both Spike and Ronaldo's eyes now on 1 certain point which most probably know what im on about, which isn't really easy for me to say as i don't normally see things the same way as either of them. :-o

Yesterday i honestly think was probably one of Ryan Briggs best games if not the best i've seen him play for Darts since he joined us. He was none stop chasing and hassling the opposition for the whole 90 minutes and if he lost the ball he went straight after it again to win it back which was excellant.

I kept getting flash backs all lastnight to that 1 horrible incident in yesterdays game where things could've been oh so different but hey the games now over and you just can't mull over these things. :?

All we can do is hope that things go right over the easter weekend and our last 2 games, our forwards find the back of the net, our defence don't let the opposition find the back of the net (especially near the end of the game), other results go our way and who knows we could climb back into the top 6. As long as we can put in that same fighting spirit and the same effort as there was yesterday then we shouldn't have any problems at all.

Kevin Hudson - AWAY
