Had a feeling Molesely didn't have the rub of the green against Dover with 2 penalties against them and ten men for more than half a match, and with our 6 goals Saturday, I would have settled for 5 and another extra one tonite instead.

Still. We will wait until tomorrow for some reports to come through and all the other Tuesday results as well.

Thanks for the updates  Tony.  See you on 11 November !!!!

Not back from work in time to get to the match tonight.  Disappointed that we conceded two goals at home and are yet to keep a clean sheet.  However, four points from the first two games (one away and one neutral) is not bad.  Pity that we still face a long wait for a true home game, but I am sure that the wait will be worth it.

Come on you DARTS!

expectations were high after saturday for tonight , probably too high but at the end of the day we got a point which was about right

we started brightly but a real howler from kevin as a high ball bounced over him and their guy side footed it into goal - no problem with kev as it will probably be his last cock up this season - typical kevin reaction as he played great rest of game

we had the chances but coulnt convert until jay may [who was top man all night] scored a blinder from a haffy cross and we htne looked liked scoring until half time came too soon

after the break we didnt pl;ay very well but eventually scored after chuck martini palmed the ball out after a gutsy challenge from brendan and haffy looped it back into an emty net

then 2 minutes later we gave away a soft goal from a right wing cross

brad potter came on for briggsy and a bit later ryan for haffy but didnt rmake any difference although we had one last chance which hi the top of the bar

far too early to criticise but im sure that TB will have made a few notes

roll on saturday and just maybe tonight may have been a blessing in disguise as realism sets in for the lseason

fairly decent crowd of 243 for a midweek game

UP THE DARTS

see you ALL on saturday

I think that i should go back to France again as we seem to Win when im away and only draw when im at the match.

First half seemed a real gutsy performance and but for a very sloppy goal conceded we looked to constantly put pressure on and eventually scored with a cracker from Jay May.

Second half we looked a very differant side and seemed to keep getting caught down the left hand side a hell of a lot. We did manage to score after Brendan Cass challanged Chuck Martini in the Molesey goal and got completely flattend by Martini only for the ball to fall straight to Haffy who coolly lobbed the ball into the back of the net for 2-1.

Unfortunately though i think we must have still been thinking about our 2nd goal and still celebrating because virtually straight from the kick off Molesey broke away down the right hand side the winger went straight passed John Farley and knocked a great ball into the edge of the box for another player to easily hit the ball on a side foot volley straight passed Kevin to level at 2-2.

After that Molesey seemed to take more control of the game and in my honest opinion looked the more likely to score. We managed to hit the bar right in the very last minute of the game and would've probably been a bit fortunate if we had come away with all the points.

1pt each is a fair result at the end of the day.

My MOTM Jay May.

i cant comment on any aspect of play as i have yet to see the mighty darts but 4 points from 6 is good business.we have to remember that until the players get the feel of thurrock every game is an away fixture.the opposition at thurrock are also away but we do not yet have the full home advantage.i hated stonebridge road because it is a delapidated pile of corrugated garbage but it still felt like a home game and had a very good surface which the players were used to.i am sure that as soon as we go home the points average per game will rise significantly which could make all the difference by season end, if we can stay close to 4 from 6 until we get home this will be great.

one thing i would like to suggest if the club can afford it is coach travel for the players for away games once we get to PP.i think driving before a game can put a bit of pressure on the players, will i get lost, will i be late etc.if all the players meet and get on a coach this builds up a bit of cammederrie or a word like that.the excess places on the coach can be sold to supporters so there is abit of subsidy there .anyway if i win the lottery a coach is on the way.

Molesey game
« Reply #36 on: August 22, 2006, 08:18:54 AM »

Saw my first Dartford game for 14 years last night so I didn't really know what to expect.

Considering Ryman Division One South is a long way down the non-league  ladder, I was impressed with the standard of football and enjoyed the game.  It was good to see every player giving 100% effort for their love of the game ( they can't be paid very much surely ? ) instead of watching some of the overpaid and vastly overrated players who I've been watching in the Premiership.

I thought that Dave Martin on the left-wing was excellent, very quick and very skillful.  I just hope that the Darts can hold on to him this season.  I'm sure that League scouts are watching him, in fact, I followed a Spurs scout through the turnstiles last night, do you think that Dave Martin was the attraction ?  He must have also been impressed with that great strike from Jay May !

Despite Molesey's poor start last Saturday, I thought they looked a useful side and deserved their point.

Can't make it for the Kingstonian game as my son's getting married so I ought to go to the wedding.  When I got married back in 1978, I missed the home game against Telford !  Why do we arrange weddings during the football season ?

Good first half but a disappointing 2nd for me.

We looked really sharp in the first 45 minutes & went behind t a rather strange goal. However, we picked things up & could have been 2 or 3 up by half time.

The 2nd half was the opposite of the 1st. I don't honestly think we tested Martini more than once when he saved at Brendan's feet.

2 great goals from May & Hafner. All in all I think the draw was a fair result.

See you Saturday

Just back from two days at head office and Monday was the first game for me to watch as I was on route from France Saturday and was obviously not expecting the same sort of score against Molesey, especially as we couldn't expect the same sort of luck as Dover had. (Molesey 10 men and 2 penalties against them)

First half had me realising why we scored so many goals on Saturday with Brendan & Jay buzzing around the goal trying to set up chances, but it was Mr Reliable Kevin who made the unusual error of misjudging the bounce and letting it go over his head for their forward to slot in.(The players from both sides had difficulties with the ball bouncing exceptionally high when trying to chest down or head the ball, not sure if it was the pitch or the ball)

What a move for our first goal as a flicked on header sent Haffie down the right and in a single movement he turned and pulled the ball back across goal for Jay to hit it first time iwith great power into the net.

Non stop attacking football after that until half time and I was really looking forward to the second half, but it was to be an entirely different story as Molesey came right back into the game and had the better of the second half. (To describe it for fans not present It was more the sort of performance you would get if Darts had been playing down hill on a steep slope with the wind behind them first half and vice versa the second half)

One of our few dangerous attacks saw their goalkeeper Chuck come out and with one eye on the ball and one on Brendan he only half punched the ball and collided with Brendan flattening both of them and allowing Haffie to put in a perfectly lobbed ball into the open net.

Hardly had we finished celebrating when Molesey broke down the right and scored from a good cross which was side footed into the net and our players then tended to look a bit deflated and struggled to lift their game sufficiently to get a winner, save for hitting the bar from a corner late on.

Still 4 points would appear to be on target for Tony's formula of last season (3 points from home games and 1 from away) but hopefully we don't drop anywhere near as many points at home as we did last season and that we can secure three more against Kingstonian on Saturday.

I believe the music Tony chose was from "The Big Country".We just thought it would make a change and was fairly rousing.
