Darts win 1-0  Jay May 45th Minute

Dover lose 1-0 at home to Fleet
Maidstone lose 2-3 at home to Whyteleafe
Cray win 4-1  Corinthian Cas

Think that puts us 2nd :)

Seems that maidstone were 2-0 up against 10 men and still managed to lose. We should be on our guard on monday !!!

We ground it out a bit today, this league will serve up many games like that, 3 points is 3 points, winning is everything!

Great result today after a gutsy performance, thankfully Kevin was is good form today as he saved us quite a few times to keep us in the game.

Disappointing penalty miss by Brendan but their keeper did look fairly good and had to pull off a few good saves as well to keep them in it.

Great move and trickery from Dave Martin on the wing to make their fullback look completely stupid and end up on his arse for Dave to cross to Jay May who basically headed passed a flat footed keeper and into an open net for 1-0.

Eddie Mac ran his socks off today with non stop tackles and chasing back and if it hadn't been for Kev pulling off some great saves then Ed would've got my vote for MOTM but instead that has to go to Mr Hudson.

Kingstonian were certainly no push over and kept running at us for the whole game, they certainly liked to put in those niggly tackles and kicks into the back of our players ankles as well.

At one point a few of our supporters were going to have a whip round to buy some of their players a few of OUR shirts because they seemed to want them so much due to trying to pull them off the backs of our players whilst still wearing them.

Still i suppose thats something our players are going to have to get used to in this league due to better teams with players who've got much more experiance. We just have to keep going and battling for the whole 90 minutes from start to finish.

Fantastic result and the club on the south coast lost too, it doesn't get much better than that !!The Ryman site has the attendance at Dover as 72 ??? Do you think they're on the fiddle down there or has everybody finally had enough ??

Attendance given on Ryman site as 336 which is pretty good.

Maidstone had 382 at home to Whyteleafe and something has to be wrong with Dovers as it is given as 72 when they was at home.

Thanks for those results 5th, because I don't seem to be able to access the Ryman pages for the results or the league tables so far this evening.

Another excellent result. Perhaps the lads are now beginning to settle down at Thurrock on our 'home' ground and getting the feel of it.

Also good to see that Burgess Hill and Molesey under their belts too today as it starts to give us a feel as to the strength of this league.

Let's hope we can keep the form going at Whyteleafe, and also be on our guard after they came back from 0-2 to win at Maidstone.

I wouldn't mind betting that the Dover gate is probably just a misprint and could be 720. Mind you, a few more defeats like that could see them getting 50 !!  So much for their 400 away day following.

pete- if you click onto the results/fixtures box at top of ryman page it comes up with a calender , click onto the date  eg 26th august and it will give you the results

the ryman is NOT as good as the old southern league site as it does NOT give you the scorers

hope that helps

Right from the off we attacked and a ball knocked over the last defender saw Davy Martin nod the ball on and as he attempted to run on the defender had two or three tugs at his shirt and we were awarded a penalty.

All this before I could walk round the back of the changinging rooms to the stand so I viewed Cassie's penalty kick from the corner flag and to me he looked far too casual in his approach then hit a ball along the ground to the goalie's left with no real power and it was comfortably saved.

The three highlights of the first half were
1. Davy Martin near the touch line and corner flag with three defenders in close attendance dancing through them and crossing
2. Davy Martin running at the full back nutmegging him and getting a cross in
3. Davy Martin cutting into the edge of the box with two defenders in front of him, a jink left and right had the first defender on his backside then a run past the second one to the bye line and a pinpoint cross to the far post for Jay May to just put his head to the ball no power needed and unmarked to finish off the move just before half time.

Second half a bit like the Molesey game as we retreated into our shells and they came more into the game and Kevin pulled off at least two very good saves to go with those he made in the first half.

One goal not enough we were saying and were cursing the penalty miss, but unlike last season we fought and battled to defend that one goal lead and with some poor finishing by Kingstonian we made it with our first home win 7 points and into 2nd place.

A good gate with quite a few travelling fans and good business on the raffle and golden goal, which had an away fan a lady spending a tenner and picking up the £30 prize.

Although Davy was at times brilliant my M.O.M. would go to Kevin for at least three of his saves and a special mention to the Kingstonian keeper for one save from Cassie and his good humour and banter with us wind up merchants behind the goal.
