Isn't it 5 on the bounce?

Don't forget that people are racking their holidays up now before PP :)

Three scrappy goals, but three chances (of many) taken and three more points which sees us move into second place with a team performance that was patchy although we did deserve to win.

The first goal coming after 38mins & 50secs (The 5th had 39mins Golden Goal so lost out) and was as a result of pure determination from Jay as he rode two tackles in the box both with kindly bounces of the ball and slipped the ball past the keeper.

Just after half time they equalized from a corner to the far post and an un-marked forward rose to send a looping header into the top corner across the face of the goal.

I don't know at what times we scored the next two goals (No info on Ryman League Site) but they didn't come quick enough for me as we struggled for about 20 minutes to keep the ball and Godalming had chances to take the lead.

But thanks to Jay meeting a cross from a free kick at the far post and hooking the ball back across goal it found Richard Avery to fire the ball home, then shortly after a nodded down header from Jay was deflected into the path of Anthony Hogg to get his first for the club.(Full marks to both players for getting into the box at the right time and taking their opportunities)

M.O.T.M. was a choice for me of either Lew Watts or Briggsy and although substituted Kevin just got the nod thanks in part I think to Lew's major contributions in the last few games giving him the confidence to move forward knowing there is cover behind.

Im sure that normally if the time is under the 30 second mark then it gets rounded down BUT if it is OVER the 30 second mark then it gets rounded UP which means the goal would've been scored in the 39th minute which is what happend.

So there for i win. :x :x :x :x :x

Incidentally, this is the best run the club have had (5 wins in a row) since 1996/97 when we won 10 matches in a row. Manager at the time? Mr A Burman :)

Oh, and honourable mentions to Anthony Hogg, Lew Watts and Brad Potter yesterday - all had pretty decent games in my opinion.

38 mins and 50 secs is the 39th minute
If the time is rounded down if it's below 30 seconds do you have a 0 minute ticket ?

every time i read that watts and hogg have an impact on a game its music to my ears.ever since i returned to the dartfold fold at the start of TS's last season the most glaring deficiency in the team has been a strong link and leader in the middle of the pitch.now thanks to tony and the board we have not one but two.from what you all say it sounds as if watts and hogg allow players like briggs to concentrate on the things they do best.i have to be honest i trhought briggs wasnt up to it but from all accounts he is playing better than ever.what a fantastic dilema tony has in trying to pick a first eleven.i know i couldnt do it.
congratulations to tony and the board in bringing these two players to the club.from what tony said a couple of notes ago the next task is to keep the vultures away from our best young players.actually i hope a player or two do leave and get to football league level ,make some big money for us in transfer fees and sell ons and promote the dfc name in years to come, but of course not just yet, lets play a bit of football at PP first.
i just cannot wait to see the new improved dfc.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it Saturday, so will see you all tomorrow night at Tooting.  Another good win though, as with the Ilford match the week before, it's no bad thing when we don't play ever so well, but still take all three points!

As a point of interest, was Eddie left out for Antony Hogg, or is he injured?  Did Brad play at full back?

Re Hogg's lack of match fitness, that's probably why he played the full 90 minutes and wasn't taken off.  There's not much point in subbing him if he needs to get match fit!

Dave T in case you don't recognise Spike  he's looking suntanned and has had his hair cut much to the delight of the choir on Saturday as they sang to him, Skip won't be wearing his chauffeur's uniform as Spike has given him the night off.

See you Tuesday

Thanks for the pointer Trev, I'll look for an extra from Miami Vice tomorrow night then!

I must admit that I've missed not having any comments to agree with over the past couple of weeks.
