I have to agree with you on your 1st point Martin, Eddie is becoming 1 of our more vital players because when he's required back in defence he's there, when he's required to hold the midfield he's there and when the forward line requires support again he's there.

Ed's game is really starting to come on and he's certainly starting to strengthen our midfield.

And with Lew Watts in there as well Briggo's game is really starting to take effect.

According to Tony's notes there was supposedly a few scouts and people from both league and Non league clubs at todays match and if thats the case then Ryno certainly didn't do his chances any harm at all.
And with Davie shining again surely theres got to be more offers coming in very soon for some of our players. Although Brendan scored his four goals today and well worth it he was i don't think imho that the scouts will be knocking just yet.

Certainly nothing against him whatsoever but it's the first time in a while where he's really come on and into the game.

eddie mac was always one of my favourite players but he seemed to lose half a yard due to his run of injuriesw and that was eddies real major asset

he seems this season to have got it back and now that he has been able to shed the grafting role of covering all of the midfield , now that lew watts has come in,  he can play the role he is best at [just behind the front man] and is looking very dangerous and catching the eye again - great news for eddie, the team and the fans

ryan hayes has always had that " bit special " about him but in previous seasons he could be a lazy sod and it is noticable this season that he is much more active but it  has not resulted in him getting a regular game [ a bit of a suprise to some fans]

if he needs proof that the all round game is the way forward then just look at davey martin ,  as in technical terms ryan is equally as good as davey

top marks to ryan hayes for his great attitude this season and i for one hope he gets a run of games

i dont envy TB have to pick a team from the current squad

We've picked up £1350 for getting through todays round.

If we get drawn at home in the next round then it will again be back at Thurrock as unfortunately the next round comes into play on 4th November.

This means that our away game against Ashford Town is now off and will have to be re-arranged.

Liked the formation today. That's the same one we played most of last year with. Although the whole team played well, there was one player IMO head and shoulders above everybody on the pitch. Lew Watts. OK, he didn't score a 25 yard curler into the top corner, nor score 4 goals, but he did the simple things all day long. I'd love to know how many passes he completed, the number of headers and tackles he won today. Always had time on the ball. But for me, it's the experience he brings. He did something today which typified that. Horsham had a break down their right in the 1st half and their centre forward was breaking in the centre, Watts just stuck ran across his path, the forward went to the deck and the winger had nobody to pass to. Only me (where I was standing), the YMCA bench and the centre forward saw it and I chuckled to myself. The bench and the effected YMCA players where not happy

Oh, and Tommy was there today and very gracious he was too.

i like your comment kebabus. we all say things but mostly it is from the heart and it is not intended to hurt but in any case there is no reason why players or management should take offence to anything we say as most of the time the comments are made as constructive comments.
my comment is a development of what you say about ossies distribution.i agree it could be a lot better.
when i first returned as a fan ossie was our best and most important defender and a natural as captain.
we have moved on now and henry and avery are accomplished defenders and i have yet to have the pleasure of seeing watts and hogg play but they sound like leaders.

what i propose is taking the armband from ossie and allowing him to concentrate on his own game.i feel sure he will play better without the armband responsibility.i have no doubt his distribution would improve.the captain should really do a bit of fist clencihing and some serious geeing up.i have watched henry a number of times be strong enough to cajole team mates and be comfortable doing it so i hope tony burman gives this some thought.

The 4-5-1 when defending/4-3-3 when attacking worked like a treat today - well done to everyone. A special mention to Brendan, who I feel has worked and worked really hard in the last few weeks, and not got his rewards. Today, you got what you deserved.

Well done Darts - let's hope we can continue this into PP!

Great way to spend Sunday afternoon.  Both sets of players were sensible on a very greasy pitch and the ref had very little to do throughout the match.  No cards were produced. Not only did we win with style, but there were no noticeable injuries and no yellow cards. It dosn't get much better.

Good performances all round on the pitch.  Kevin made a couple of good saves when the oposition really should have scored.  The first keeper had to leave at half time for Panto rehersals.  Snow White is a stickler for time keeping.  The Horsham defence was very poor.  I do not think that they will cope with our wingers, on a true playing surface, on the 11th.  Could be another hatfull of goals for the strikers lucky enough to be selected.

I bet Jimmy can't wait to get back up front.

Come on you DARTS!

How can you pick a man of the match when there's 11 of them, but how can you not pick Cassie after he scores 4 goals ?

With Ryan and Davy  running wild down the wings and good on the deck football feeding them and the defence solid with no real mistakes being made, a compliment to all the players given the playing conditions of a wet skiiddy surface.

Who cares about the bl**dy formation Anthony Hogg moved to left back and won everything whilst playing most balls down the line to Davy and on occasions found time to get ahead and receive the return passes.

The back four gave nothing away and with Lew Watts covering across in front of them it gave Eddie and Briggsy (both ever improving) the confidence to move forward and join in the action up front.

The result up front was the first goal to Ryan as two of our forwards jumped all alone for his very dangerous left footed in swinging cross (one of many) which eluded both players leaving the goalie (very short) unsighted and unable to stop it going over his head into the net.

Goal number two Cassie (Alah Greaves or Lineker in poaching mode) receiving the ball from Ryan with his back to the goal dropping his shoulder and turning right, one touch of the ball for space and a left foot shot high into the net.

Number three with a touch of luck from Davy saw him run at the full back run past him and cross the ball from the by-line, the ball taking a deflection  off of the defenders boot and soaring high in the air dropping down towards the 6 yards line where un-marked Cassie flicked his header downwards out of reach of the keeper.

Goal number four saw a lightning reaction by Cassie as a hard low skidding ball flashed across the box and he swung a boot sending it rocketing into the top of the net.

Goal number five was just Alah Ryan, we've seen them before and this one was just as good as he drew two defenders near the touchline fooled them into thinking he was going down the line, then cut inside across the edge of the box and bang a curling left footer into the top corner.

To rub it in Cassie was found un-marked at the far post for a simple tap in to complete the scoring and to send everyone home happy bar a certain Mr Sampson, speaking of which.

The response from their goalie just as we kicked off, to Custards question had Tommy mentioned The Vase was to spread the palm of his gloved hand and count his fingers 1-2-3-4-5, later in response to several comments refering to Tommy's book the one which drew a big smile from the keeper was when asked if Tommy had made them wear knickers yet. (If unsure read the book)

The choir was strong vocally in the first half cheering on the team and the highlight was You can stick the Vase up your **** (you know what) aimed at Tommy and in the second half it dropped off a bit when 5 or 6 goals up but we still managed Tommy Tommy give us a wave, with no response I wonder why.

I'm not a Brendan Cass fan and if I'm honest I don't really think he has been worth his place in the side. Yesterday however, he was excellent. Not just because of the 4 goals, but also because he worked much harder and played an all round much better game. Easily his best game for the Darts and he simply has to be MOTM for that one.

Great performances from several players, particularly Ryan Hayes and boy oh boy do we look better when Eddie McClements is back in the side.

What an enjoyable game considering such awful conditions.I must agree with Spike in regard to Eddie Mac , he certainly links the midfield with the forward. Well done to Ryan , he can be frustrating at times but when he is on form , he is a joy to watch.
Also have to agree with Gary on the subject of Brendan. He really worked his socks off , great turn for his first goal and as soon as that went in , you could see the confidence come back. Well done Brendo. Certainly a headache for TB in regard to team selection for Sat.

It was a very impressive performance, and one which will give TB some serious selection problems leading up to PP!  OK, so Horsham YMCA were very poor, lacking in ideas, shape and just about everything else, (in fact they reminded me a bit of the Darts a couple of years back under, err, who was it?) but we took them to the cleaners and didn't let them off the hook, which was good to see.

I've been a fan of Cassie for a while now, and remember seeing him play for Tonbridge and Chatham and thinking I wish he was with us. So when he joined I was delighted and even during his lean spell I always felt he would come good. But during the past couple of weeks I was starting to get a bit worried. He just didn't look up for it; slow, head down, lacking committment and anticipation and it must be said, probably keeping his place on reputation alone, culminating in a truly awful performance at Tooting. But yesterday, he came good with a bang and it was great to see.

Like most good strikers, he thrives on confidence. But the key is to keep working hard when things aren't going so well. Let's hope now that we will see the real Cassie again. Cassie and Jay ought to be a terrific partnernship with excellent complimentary skills, but if we play with two wide men like yesterday, can we accomodate them both? And with Jim Carter waiting in the wings too, like I said, it's going to be a real headache for TB.

Eddie was excellent yesterday, whilst Briggo was a little quiet after some recent excellent games and these two have really started to influence games like we know they are capable of. With Anthony Hogg pushing for a midfield place (although he was excellent at left back yesterday) they too need to keep on top of their games. If I have any worries at all at the moment, then it's a possible lack of pace in the middle. Tooting exposed us in this respect, but as everything else is improving at the moment, I'm sure this won't be a major issue.

Ain't life grand, following the Darts?!!!  /smug

whilst i am totally o k with anyone having an opinion , even if it doesnt agree with mine  but  singling out individual players  for criticism on the web is unacceptable [ thats the managers job behind closed door] and it appears that a couple of fans lay in waiting ready for the opportunity to have a go at their least favourite player

how any one can single out a specific  player for criticism  from the very below par performance at tooting is beyond me and just proves my point  !!!

criticise the team en bloc , criticise the tactics and even criticise the manager but to criticise individual players  on the web is a negative practice ,  do you really think it does any good ??????

But there is only honesty being mentioned on here, and it's been mentioned only because of the complete change, where the player criticised has actually performed pretty amazingly well the next game!

Fair enough, unwarranted criticism isn't a good thing (Player X is shit, get him out of the side) but when the poster has made their opinion known, with good reasons as to what the player has done wrong (in his opinion), then surely that can only be encouraged?

You take the rough with the smooth - there should be no praise without criticism (if needed).

Dukey, As one of the supporters who has never lost faith with Brendan's ability even when he has been performing poorly recently, I can't let this remark pass. During recent weeks, I've frequently voiced my support of Brendan on the terraces (often in the face of adversity!) when others have been condemning him, so you're way off the mark here. This was 100% constructive criticism. In fact my opinion of Brendan Cass is a perfect example of my opinion being fundamentally different to Spikes!

I deliberately made no comment after the Tooting match (or the half a dozen or so before that) because, like you, I felt it would do no good at all. I made reference to Brendan's performance retrospectively here simply to illustrate just how well he played yesterday and what a difference a game makes, and just how good a player he really is. He was excellent yesterday and thoroughly deserves all the plaudits he gets.

But if you asked Brendan, I'm sure he'd be honest enough to admit that I'm right in my assessment of his recent performances - including yesterday! Equally, I can't help thinking that Brendan would feel embarrassingly patronised to see some of the "well played" and "unlucky" comments, and his man of the match nominations on here recently.

Still, like you say, it's all about opinions I guess!

Come on Skip where are you, I'm sure you'd like to praise Cassie along with the rest of us on yesterdays performance, even Spike has posted on his game and I'm sure if I hadn't reminded you Dave T would have.

P.S. if you've been busy at work I'll excuse you as some of us have been posting during the day, some from work and some from home no doubt
