I was going to say Dave Skinner, but I guess the Leader has managed to smugly deny me that right  /smug

Can you let us know who is opening the ground on 11/11?

11/11 is all about the community and the club, with the 'official' opening taking place in early 2007.

Personally I think we should celebrate the referee and cheer him when he blows his whistle at 3pm.

We don't have the exact answers as yet but:

Probably 12pm (when gates open)

Not all ticket-holders will fit (we have sold more tickets than capacity for the bar) so we may just allow season ticket holders in (views welcome on this!)

Prices aren't set as yet but they will be competitive with other local bars/pubs.

That'll limit it to about 4000 then.

Only slight problem with this is there are a hell of a lot of regulars / very loyal supporters that don't have a season ticket so i can see big problems with this. And not everyone is a member of the supporters association either so even this couldn't really be considered.

Not to sure the best way round this.

Er, I'm not a season ticket holder but like most, attend 90%+ home games.  Family and other commitments preclude me from attending most evening and admittedly a few Saturday games thus making a season ticket not practicle. The thought of not being able to have a beer on the big day doesn't bear thinking about. How about those 250+ fans that turn up for Ilford at home on Saturday (or the remaining "home" games at Thurrock) get a voucher entitling them to entry to the bar on the day? Or how about a programmes from the same period? After all, it's those fans who have supported the club through thick and thin at Cray, Erith, Romford, Slade Green, Thurrock (x2) and Gravesend?. It should be these fans that, with respect should be given the opportunity to sample all that the ground has to offer on the opening day and raise a glass to toast their loyalty and their gratitude for those that helped our team get back to the borough? These are the fans that after all will be going week in week out after the bruahah" on the 11th has died down.

ps What is the capacity of the bar?? Will it exceed 250??  :-D Is it all seater  :-D

We are working on the bar dilemma and Tom and I have just had a conversation on precisely the same lines as your postings. Our chief aim will be to ensure that The Dart's long-standing fans get to use the bar. I appreciate that season ticket holders aren't the only loyal fans and there are lots of practical reasons why someone who can attend 50 - 75% of the games each season may not choose to buy a season ticket.

There's been some useful suggestions in the postings. Give us a little while and we'll try to find a good solution.

Do not envy you this problem.  I know of many people who will be at the game who will be most upset if they arrive at circa 1PM and are told that they are not allowed to use the bar.  I think once the decision is made, it must be widely publicised to prevent any disappointment on the day.

Come on you DARTS!

Please think carefullyJeremy/DBC as I have just heard that Mickie Austin & Malcolm Eames are planning to camp in the toilets overnight from Friday just in case regulars who are not season ticket holders are banished from the bar, think of the lost revenue from these two alone, what do you mean no p***heads allowed.

I know that The 5th The Duke and myself are not season ticket holders (by design) but we are always in the bar home and away every week at least and hour or more before kick off, not drinking a huge amount, but soaking up the atmosphere, conversing with the other posters and fans and spending money on the various fund raising activities offered by John Scratchcard Stewart.

I wouldn't want this day of days to be any different with the exeption that we will be there for 12.00 and none of us 3 will be driving thanks to the wives dropping us off/collecting us and the thought that perhaps they will be joining us after the game to toast the new ground.

Wow what a great headache! I can remember the bar at Watling Street being packed to the rafters, i'm trying to think of some way in helping find a solution! Maybe pints can be 'taken away' in plastic 'glasses'. Or just as a one off have a marquee beer tent somewhere on site to cater for the extra numbers. I like Trev and the others will be in the bar early to soak up the atmosphere and just take it all in and meet old and new faces talking about the Darts proudly with emotion running high.

Having seen the bar area under construction its not as if we are talking about a small area! Maybe the club/council should 'cash in' and have the secondary bar area, food (beer) for thought.

Whatever the outcome the bar will be ultra busy on 11/11 and suggest that the cellar is very well stocked for the big one!!

Hmm, not happy about the suggestion that only season ticket holders being admitted to the bar. I appreciate it's a dilemma, but surely it's a case of first come first served?   Perhaps it needs a voucher to be sent with the tickets when they are sent to the first say 500 appplicants for example?
