Don't mean to labour the point but Leyton Orient stewards are paid a flat rate of £25!  :?

I didn’t enjoy last night as soon as I went through the turnstiles. For a start people were being searched or man handled by the over zealous security staff. I overheard that these marshals/security staff are being paid £16 an hour which sounds a little bit OTT. Surely in the long run we should train up some of our own supporters to do this to save the club money. Besides all the big games I’ve been to at this level I have never seen so many marshals. How do the likes of G & N get away with this?

Some other points I noticed was the amount of people smoking in the ground and clubhouse. Some of these were players. Kids kicking footballs against the cladding on the main stand, as well as trying to pick fights with the security staff at the entrance of the main stand; I see what Jeremy means that some of the kids are nasty. :-(

Sorry to say this but I feel like a stranger in my own club’s stadium. I could go on but what's the point. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement.

As for the game we got what we desereved…nothing.

i think this is a very good posting DJJ.our club is very inexperienced at handling a lot of things in a busy ground like this and i suspect the Council have taken it upon themselves to organise some things like security ,stewards etc because they assume we are not able to organise it ourselves.i bet they pass the charge to us though.
i dont think they are wrong in doing this though as they cant risk chaos.i think the club should have someone looking at these issues and tell  the Council that we have the capability to do things ourself.i am sure if dfc appoint someone to look at these things the club will have the knowledge very shortly to look after all its matchday affairs.

the last thing we want is to feel a stranger in our own ground.

Give a few more games and I might get use to it Rambo. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels the same way. What worries me more is when segregation comes into play? How will the away fans take this kind of treatment?

We're not!

I believe a request from the club came out for volunteers to do the stewarding, with training provided and I'm guessing that nobody responded.

if i was the club,  i wouldnt hold my breath whilst waiting for volunteers  to do the stewards job   !!!!!

simple support on raffle ticket sellers and  programme sellers was not exactly overwhelming [ full credit to the guys and girls who actually do it] but who in their right mind wants to spend all the game looking at the fans and NOT the match !!!!!

so i guess it will be a case of paying people who are NOT interested in football but surely not at £16 per hour !!!

Whatever the stewards are paid, is there any chance of them actually doing something during the game to earn their money ?
I think they should be told that they are not paid to stand around modelling orange safety jackets and they are supposed to actually do something. The repeated requests to keep the walkways clear is very annoying and even more so when there is a steward standing a few feet away just watching people standing in the walkways. As usual we are paying stewards to stand around watching people doing things they shouldn't be doing.

While we're on the subject of stewards etc, was the attendance figure based on gate takings. If so that might explain the strange figure of only 1087, because if the other turnstile operators were anything like the one at the turnstile I went through at least half of the takings would have disappeared. (The operator had left the turnstile unmanned with about £500 in a neat little bundle, six inches from the opening.)

You are quite correct Matt, the club did make a request for stewards within the fan base who would've been sent on a course to become qualified and would've paid you as well.

From what i understand and thats not much, to become either a steward or security you have to be qualified by law, especially with the security. If for whatever reason it was found out that you wasn't qualified then both the club and yourself could get into a lot of trouble.

So i very much doubt that the club will be asking any fans to do the job unless you were sent on the relevent courses to become qualified which would take a little while.

I think it's going to be a case that we will need Stewards at every game now as im sure that the attendances will grow more and more. Im not saying that we'll get 1000 every match as we won't but i would like to think about 600+ would be great.

We will just have to wait and see what happens though as this is all still a learning curve for the club.

All the vehicles leaving the leisure centre at the same time doesn't help either. Guess I'll just have to start frequenting the bar post-match until the queues have died down!
thats because they parked there as well, as the next gen don't enforce their carpark.

one positive point is a concern some of us had is that when we do get singing we are getting a good level of noise.

didn't deserve 3-0 but we never lokked like winning

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?
