Having read the comment from Johndfc that the club were forced to play at 1pm by league as the club could not guarantee the lights would be corrected in time.  I have to say that both DBC and the club did an excellent job in notifying so many people at 3 days notice and be rewarded with 1000+ through the gate.  Well done to all those concerned.

Now to the Isthmiam League management committee.   I recall reading some time ago a comment from our friend at Waltham Forest about the inadequacies of the Isthmian League compared to the Southern League which became apparent when Watham Forest moved between the leagues because of restructuring in the non-league game.  Nothing specific just a general comment about the administration.  Then I recalled that fiasco where the same Isthmian League management committee made a complete balls-up of the venue for a huge play-off match between Lewes and Bedford (probably wrong about the teams involved) but the gist was that the Isthmian League misread the FA guidelines and the team that was away should have been at home.  This was the biggest play-off match in recent history as it gave the winning team a place in the Conference South.  Suffice to say that one club appealed to the FA and the match was switched a day before.  Surprisingly enough a large number of supporters arrived at the opposition ground only to find that the match was being played a 100 plus miles away at their home ground.  The reason I think this is relevant to the Sittingbourne early kick-off fiasco is that having read comments about floodlighting at the Maidstone - Dover match yesterday and the poor lighting why did the Isthmian League decide that they could not stick to the date previously agreed for the floodlight work to be done ? If it wasn't for the fact that DBC had email addresses for those purchasing tickets for the opening then we would hav been lucky to get 500 through the gate.  We had many happy years in the Southern League - let's hope the Isthmian League bucks its ideas up and instead of hindering a new member club actually showing some support.  I presume the official from the Isthmian League is a traffic warden duing the day ?

Of course if I've got the wrong end of the stick, I'm sure the Isthmian League will be only to happy to give us its version. /smug

i am very unimpressed by the ryman league web site and the southern league beats it hands down

the info available on the southern league is comprehensive and an interesting read eg , goal scoers and times , leading goal scoers , individual teams resulrs etc

canno tbe difficult for ryman to do it but maybe they either dont care or hate to follow the southern leagues standards

either way the fans lose out

Defeated, yes. And I'm sure Tony and the boys are gutted again.

But it is encouraging to read that the Darts are producing good football at PP. And to read Beardy's postings, it is also encouraging that new supporters seem to be taking on board that patience is required and that the occasional defeat is not going to stop them from coming to PP.  In for the long term - well done.

Given that several games were postponed yesterday over the country, what are the views of those who watched the Darts yesterday as to how the new pitch stood up to a soaking before the match. Did the lake fill up?

And what sort of support did the Bourne bring with  them to the match out of the 1047 crowd?

Bourne had probably 40 in their group that stood together; there was a lot of surface water at the match but that may have been due to the apocalyptic down pour before hand.

i missed the first goal as i was stuck in charlton fc and deptford welling and bexleyheath shopping traffic

their first goal was down to bad defending and their second was a dubious free kick.i was in line with play and could not see trhe "offence".it was a precision kick but not great power anf i think kevin should have done better.
brad potter played very well as did dave martin.but dave if you dont hit the target you cannot score.we would have fewer points if it was not for dave martin though.jay had a great chance by the post and chose to hit the ball with all his body off the fround rather chesting it in.ryan took a ball in the box with no one around him and chose a snap shot rather than composure and putting the ball in the danger area. most of our crosses were hit to long or two short.their keeper had not one shot to save.what does this all tel us.well these are semi pro players still learning but mainly the players are playing at a level of football that their ability is comfortable with.the quest is to get better and play at a higher level and whoever cannot hack it will be repaced.that is a fact of life.
it is tony's job to do this and he is definately doing it,look at our league position ,we are one point off top.
i sound despondent but i am not, i am a bit dissapointed though.

i think tony does make it a bit difficult for himself.henry is a "want to winner" and should have played yesterday.the team could have been better with him on the pitch.
i could not pick our best team because i am not a manager so i am glad it is not my job however i firmly believe when you start a football match in your league when your team in fact is one of the better teams in the division you must aim to attack and win the game.
i think we have the personell to do this and the best way to attack is with a solid back four, two midfield players and a winger on each side supplying two decent forwards.

there is a long way to go this season and i believe our squad is good enough to make play off at least

we deserved a draw on saturday, but credit to the bourne they worked hard and defended well, until we stop shipping goals tho' it will be difficult to maintain  consistancy. overall a much better effort than the "cray" debacle but again nothing to show for our efforts.I no doubt will be hammered for saying this but we are 3-4 quality players short of getting out of this league. TB, Robbo and skip have all played a high level  of football and will know what is required. we need to turn PP into a fortress,so that teams are coming with doubts in their minds,it's early days at PP but we must expect teams to up their game and we will have to respond to the situation

this thread  typifies that darts fans , as NOT ONE fan has slagged the team off for getting beat on saturday , some boards i read would have crucified them  !!!

this is what makes the fans and the club speciai,  as we win as one and lose as one

it doesnt stop us having honest opinions but the players i am sure appreciate that we are 100% behind them and TB , all we ask is to give their best which in 98% of the time happens

its a tough old long haul and with PP in place we have only covered 100 metres so far ,  with the best to come

keep it up !!!!!!!

UP THE DARTS

nb i have onl yhad one pint of courage at lunch time [ honest !!! ]

Ther was about 40-50 of us from the shed at the side of the ground but ther was about 10-15 behind the goal  and some in the stand sitting but i think we took at least 80 maybe 100

fair point brickie and you did make some noise , we knew you were there !!!!

on the day , you beat us 2-1 and we have no gripes about that as it is ALL about goals scored , who ever has most possession is meaningless if you dont score

however , we believe we have a good team and we will be looking for revenge at your place and we will also be bringing our 100+ fans to make plenty of noise and support OUR team

so keep enjoying it and see you on 10th february , plenty of in time for you to get those floodlights fixed  !!!!!
