Sometimes I don't understand football fans.  Nearly everybody who has made a reflection on the match has stated that we didn't appear to have a midfield, then 1 of the central midfielders gets over 20% of the vote for man of the match???

Personally I thought our MOTM was between Ryan, Guest and Avery who all had good games.

Well it's certainly a game of opinions TLD, and IMHO whilst I would never fault Brad for his effort and workrate he still has a long way to go to fulfil the holding midfielder role. I'm sure he has all the basics, but he needs to add composure and consistency to his game. I've no doubt that he will, given more experience, but I'm a tad suprised that he got as many votes for MOTM after a disappointing all round midfield showing on Saturday.

Thanks for the information lads and a good point raised from TLD, but then he's always got to be different, only joking Matt and it is as you say interesting how the apparent lack of midfield  does and not for the frst time pick up a good percentage of votes.

I gave my MOTM to Ryan Hayes (for a great goal, a lot of effort and all round reasonable game), who I thought just shaded it over John Guest and a lot of credit also to Jay May for his tireless effort up front. I must admit, I thought our first half showing was absolutely dismal and the second half, despite the comeback, wasn't really that great either! I think our first goal was a bit fortunate and left them rattled just long enough for us to cash in and grab an equaliser. At that point you would have expected Darts to roll up the sleeves, push on and go for the winner, but instead we just fizzled out and the game resumed its earlier pattern with the Police finishing on top. I agree that our central midfield just isn't good enough, although to be honest we hardly ever use it as we just persisted in clobbering the ball forwards expecting Jay run his nuts off and turn long speculative punts into something resembling passes. At half-time I would have settled for the draw, but overall, very disappointing.

Have to disagree Spike! We murdered em in that 2nd half! Chance after chance we were so close! There was a period after our assault on their goal when they came back into it but that 2nd half was a Darts power play, we need that more often. We were so unlucky that one of the six guilt edged chances didn't go in!

We need 2 wins (Walton, Whyteleafe) now and we will maintain our position right in the mix.

Everyone is going on and on about the midfield, , Eddie, Barnes, O Brian they didn't start this match is it really that surprising? Briggs can't have been 100% match fit!

Well done Darts for the comeback, on another day you would have less chances and win.

How far we have come in such a short time! Crikey the plod beat Dover away recently!

I'm not saying we don't have better midfielders at the club or that we have lost our way or anything, I was just commenting on Saturday's game as I saw it. For my money, Eddie McClements is far and away the best player we have in midfield and O'Brien looked very promising, at least, in the first of his two games for us. Lew Watts is also one of our better midfielders too, so fair enough, we didn't have our best players out there. Barnesy had been disappointing, so I wasn't as sorry as I thought I would be about his leaving. Not sure Briggsy has any real excuse for being unfit though (if that is even true).

As for the second half comeback, we'll just have to agree to disagree about the "power play" and the six "gilt edged" chances. After we got a lucky break with Avery's goal there was a lot of noise from the crowd and a lot of expectation, but I honestly don't think we played all that well, especially after Ryno had grabbed the equaliser. For the first 15 minutes of the second half we had them rattled but then we just drifted back into punting hopeful long balls again. Still, everyone's entitled to his or her opinion and if I am in the minority that's fine ... it certainly won't stop me being there next week, the week after and every week from now until the end of the season!

Spike being fit and match fit are 2 completely different things, the extra fitness from playing games i mean, you would have to chat with a player or TB.

I think that everyone can take heart from your comments because we really have come a long way.

I thought the Plod were quite nervous at the start but capitalised from a breakaway after our corner. This should not happen, not when you don't have to commit players forward early on in a game. That gave them a bit of confidence and it could have been at least 4-0 at half time.

Second half we were a different team BUT still the long ball special was seen far too much. In a team of donkies I could understand it but in a team with talented players on the wings and capable players in the midfield, there really is no need to hoof it. This is what riles me and I'm sure it does Tony B too because when we do get it down, we are blinding.

I guess we have to remember it is a young team, there is a lot of pressure playing at the stadium and away teams tend to do a lot of closing down giving you less time on the ball to make a decision so you hoof it for safety's sake. This is where players have to show they have that little bit extra class and quality where they think quickly and act quickly. When was the last time you saw Eddie Mac hoof it long?

Looking forward to an AWAY game, let's hope we turn out in force to add a bit of Christmas cheer.
