Walton Casuals away 23rd Dec 06 Thread
« on: December 19, 2006, 10:59:52 PM »

Ok all, its a crunch game, how good it would be to get a result at the club who beat the biggest team with the biggest support in Kent, our chums from near Calais!

All the best to the team on Saturday, lets take some vocally strong fans down there.

Directions

Leave the M25 at junction nine and at the roundabout, take the third exit onto the A243. At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto the A244 and remain on this road until you reach Walton on Thames. From the High Street, follow the signs for Hampton Court and the A3050, turning right onto Church Street. Continue until the roundabout and turn left onto Waterside Drive. The ground is towards the end of this road on the right hand side.

I would suggest that this could be a tough game. Having drawn at Maidstone on Saturday and beating Dover tonight, it would seem that Walton have run into a bit of form. Let's be honest, we haven't been at our best (save for the 2nd half at Fleet) for a while. Also, hopefully get a chance to meet the legend Tony Gale as he manages Walton (TV work permitting) I believe.

I have always said teams at the bottom are more than capable of beating teams at the top in any league, and there goes another example tonight - thank goodness !!  Thank you to the Casuals, but hope you behave yourselves on Saturday!!  But Darts - be beware.

Don't forget. For those of you who don't follow the league scene, Nottingham Forest, runaway leaders of Division 1, lost at home last Saturday to then bottom of the table Leyton Orient  by 1-4 !!

Let's keep that excellent away record going. What with Fleet also dropping two points tonight, results have gone our way. Now let's try and get a run together over the Christmas period, do the busines ourselves rather than rely on the slip ups of others.

Didn't realise that Tony Gale was their Director of Football - should be interesting :)

I will be there as always standing next to the honourable Gary Clark behind the goal.
Still a 100 % attendance record to date this season and always look forward to a Saturday afternoon watching the mighty Darts.
Jingle bells , jingle bells , jingle all the way ... oh what fun it is to see Dartford win away ....

I think for the first time ever i have a personal friend playing for the opposition on Saturday and the name Tony Gale answers a few questions. Some of you may know Steve Read who has coached Fleetdown United for a number of years and whose boy Matt has come through the West Ham Acadamy. After ten years at the Hammers he got as far as fourth choice Keeper but as he could not get any further they have been farming him out mainly to Barnet last season. I spoke to his dad last year when he was hunting for a club and suggested he might have try out at Dartford but was told that West Ham only wanted him to drop down as far as the Conference for experience. Imagine my suprise to see that is playing for Walton Casuals ,but with Tony Gale there ,it makes sense. He is a Dartford boy through and through and an excellent keeper but i shall try and persuade him not to do to well on Saturday.

Sounds like he should join us and be Kevins successor when he has retired. Dartford through and through? TB take note!

To be fair against us they didn't look 'all that'. Unfortunately the pitch at bourne park has turned results into a lottery at the moment. When we played dover, they really didn't look anything special, they cant attack, only defend..... nick a goal and they're shafted. Which is probably what walton did. I have to say walton do like to play a passing game, up the pitch and full credit to them for not time wasting when they were under massive pressure from us.

I'd honestly expect a squad of your callibre to have no probs against them. Just make sure you don't give them time on the ball.

I felt Dover were like that on our pitch, so I don't know whether that's just them all round.
