This one's for you "The Don"
How come you manage to keep the forum updated with the current scores of the leagues matches?
Do you EVER attend a Darts match?

We're a big club with fans from all over the country, sorry, world.  They can't travel down every week.

We can't all support small clubs with fans who all live within 5 minutes of the ground like you lot at Diver.

This one's for you "kent/Doverfootyfan"

I've probably supported the Darts for at least 20 years more than you've followed Dover, just unfortunate for me at the moment I am a 4 hour round trip to PP. Think I've made 6 trips this season, contribute to sponsorship, help run the e-bay auctions (which have raised probably enough to clear your overdraft at Dover), oh I can't be ar*ed !!. Is that good enough for you ?? Anyway, what's it got to do with you ??

Well done Darts for gaining the 3 points on a day that was harsh weather wise, 2 goals up very quickly then 2 goals conceded from set plays again, but with those conditions to be fair their 2nd was sweetly hit, the first though calamity!

2nd half our side dug in and attacked with pace and power, scoring 2 further goals to maintain our championship challenge. Great crowd considering the awful rain and wind, oh and the fans were very loud at times especially in the 2nd half. How anyone can knock our superb home support is simply sour grapes i'm afraid! Its all new to so many people and in time many more will join the choir.

Well done for the 3 points, very welcome and oh so vital.

We need the management and players to focus in training this week because it would be great to continue this mini run of consistency.

Thought Leafe raised their game to be honest, their faces as they came out of the tunnel was a picture!

We are rightly proud of our new stadium, the facilities were spot on today, keep improving on and off the field Darts!

Thought Ryno's header was the goal of the match, and he was easily man of the match. Two silly goals we gave away, definately need to work on defending set pieces and quick!

A great way to finish 2006    well done lads !

Ryan Hayes deserved MOM today and I thought Jay May never stopped chasing every ball      brilliant

Also -  thought one my 2 youngest boys favourite players, Ryan Briggs, had a big impact when he came on during the period of the terrible playing conditions

Lets carry this winning habit into 2007 now !

Happy New Year to all DARTS !

With room for 4100 people, and a normal crowd for a home game of around the 300 mark the tickets will be from the turnstyles. DBC could have saved us tax payers a small fortune by building a ground that holds a lot less. Why waste all that money on a showpiece stadium when the amount of support does not warrant it.

Converted now are you? What was the attendance again today?

Terrible conditions, great turn out of supporters and a well bagged win. Ryno is the most composed player at PP and thoroughly deserved his two goals

Firstly good and bad points on P.P. note not criticisms or digs, just observations on the day when we had foul weather but a very good attendance.

GOOD POINTS

From 1.00p.m. to 3.00p.m. in the members bar three bar persons and quick service as punters moved away once served and all beers appeared to be available, plus after the game the members bar was packed but they also opened up the Function Suite and lots of fans took advantage and celebrated the win before departing.

BAD POINTS

Insignificant but they ran out of ice/ J2O and brandy, what with NEW YEAR coming tomorrow and the function bar was closed without warning before 6.00p.m. whilst fans were still looking to buy drinks, but obviously I don't know if there was an evening fuction to prepare for and I assume that the members bar stayed open.

GOOD POINTS

The stewards had a briefing in the members bar around 1.00p.m. and they appeared alot more friendly towards the fans being polite and helpful, at least one turnstile was open at 12.45p.m. (Manned by Malcolm Eames) and there seemed to be a steady flow into the ground and the stewards appeared to use common sense in allowing some of the fans to stand with their backs to the wall along the walkway to avoid getting wet as there was little room behind the goals.

BAD POINTS

50% of the ground (that is along both  terraces) allowed the fans to get soaked as the rain lashed in through the mesh fencing above the wall to soak some of the seating and across the other side the terrace was bare as rain came straight at the fans or through the mesh as the wind gusted around. (exceptional weather conditions but the mesh has to be sorted as we all knew what would happen if it rained) Luckily most fans congregated behind the two goals but it meant that lots of Darts fans had to stay at the wrong end of the ground.

The game was also made up of good & bad points as you will have guessed from the first half score of 2-2, with Ryno scoring a super goal in 30 seconds as he picked up the ball from Jays brush with a defender then side stepped the goalie and as per normal jinked left to avoid a defender leaving him with an open goal to fire home.

Playing what alot of fans suggested was our best and strongest team today the second goal was Eddie Mac at his best and as we know he can play, picking up the ball in midfield he advanced then hooked his toe under the ball and flicked it up over the defence for Cassie to run onto and he managed to toe end the ball wide of the keeper.

Two up after 10 minutes and cruising but by the half hour all was different as the first of three unnecessary free kicks on the edge of the box were given away, the first free kick was fired in with lots of power and was goalwards but for Kevin getting his hand to the ball and pushing it onto the post/bar and out for a corner.

Next free kick was an awful goal as the ball was softly hit into the box and as John Guest appeared to have a free header with Kevin right behind him, he left it and Kev missed it, obviously poor calling or a misunderstanding but another goal from a set piece.

The equalizer came from a poor push in the back by Richard Avery when the Whyteleafe player had nowhere to go and having seen the first free kick and the power from it we went to sleep and didn't put a player on the far post, hence a low hard skidding shot found the corner of the net.

Second half we were on tender hooks as neither side looked like scoring albeit we did try and play some good football but no real chances were created, then panic as from a corner Whyteleafe scored but thankfully the referee ruled it out.

Throughout the game the referee had allowed Whyteleafe to constantly kick our players with numerous late tackles so I guess he owed us one, but shortly after Richard Avery was stretchered off with a ligament injury which will see him out for at least four weeks.

We seemed to be able to step up the pressure after this with Lew Watts dropping into the central defence and Briggsy coming on to replace Avery and we put together several good moves one of which saw a rash clearance across goal as the tackle went in and Ryno was at the far post to power in a header from a very difficult angle.

Almost straight from the kick off more pressure lead to anoth poor clearance and the ball fell to Briggsy outside the goal area, he did what we cry out for game after game and he looked up and hit the ball, (not sure if it would have beaten the keeper) but it skimmed off a defenders head gaining more velocity and flew into the net.

No more real scares after this as we had around 14 minutes to go, but as is normal we were wary of our defending against a couple of corners, but by then Whyteleafe had heads dropped and our defence looked stronger than at any other time during the game.

Eddie had some lovely touches on the ball considering the conditions, but Ryno has to be my M.O.M. with two goals and numerous dangerous crosses.

the game summed up perfectly from trevor b
we were by far the better team and for me the result was never in doubt even though i would go as far as saying our back 5 were appalling.it was almost as if any set piece on target would go in.
however when watts moved to centre half after richards injury we suddenly looked tighter.before this richard and guesty gave away to many silly free kicks ,and not enough clearing headers especially from guesty and to much shakiness from kevin although he made a brilliant  save with 10 left coming out to meet a forward.
if we are to win this league which we can cetainly do a lot of work needs to be done at the back,we simply do not dominate this area of the field.maybe the answer is to leave watts there who in fact played a real captains performance in the second half
eddie mac was brilliant as was ryan hayes and i thought the ball crossed the line in the late attack in the first half.

Well done to the team today, although we were a bit quiet(on the pitch and in the stands) after the equalizer, I thought the difference in class was evident and, for me at least, the result was never in doubt.

With Dulwich losing today, we are now 3 points behind the leaders(Fleet) with (dare I say it) a game in hand.

BAD POINTS

50% of the ground (that is along both  terraces) allowed the fans to get soaked as the rain lashed in through the mesh fencing above the wall to soak some of the seating and across the other side the terrace was bare as rain came straight at the fans or through the mesh as the wind gusted around. To be fair throughout most of the stadium the rain wasn't coming in through the mesh, but the front of the stand.  The only place it was coming through the mesh seemed to be behind the seats and the back row of seats looked dry as I passed by at half time.

But, even if it did come through the mesh I make it 50% of the ground was dryer than 99% of other non league grounds and the other 50% at least as dry(wet) as the other 1% of non league grounds.

In summary(because even I don't fully understand my last paragraph) what other grounds in non league football have as many dry fans as Princes Park with the rain coming down almost horizontally??

i also dont understand your maths paragraph tld but i believe that if almost horizontal rain becomes vertical rain there is no chance of any of us staying dry :-)

Well Done Lads nice to come away from the ground today with 3 points.

Hope Richard is better soon. After Richard went off we knuckled down and got stuck in with 2 good goals to pull us back in the game.

The Ref made some very bad calls during the second half after getting most of the first half right!

Very concerned about the amount of water on the pitch it seems like it was never going to drain away and we was going to have to get the boat out to get home.

Next week Dover play Dulwich so lets pray that the result goes the way we want and need.

Happy New year all see you next week. :-) :-)

Well Done today Darts in what was horrendous weather conditions, although it was virtually non stop rain for the whole match i didn't realise just how strong that wind was until i stepped outside of the ground. Considering the amount of rain we had the pitch looked to be holding up really well and didn't look to be cut up at all, there was a lot of surface water which did make it very difficult to play the ball on the deck at times as the water was holding the ball up or stopping it.

Some very dodgy and at times nasty looking tackles were going in especially from the Whyteleafe players but on most occasions the ref seemed to let them get away with it, in fact im certain that one of the challenges was the cause of Richard Averys injury.

The ref started off well especially in the first 10-15 minutes and generally for most of the 1st half but in the 2nd he rapidly went down hill and seemed to completely lose control.

4 well taken goals on our behalf but 2 very silly goals to concede, the first looked to be a big mistake between Guesty who looked to duck & let the ball go over his head just as Kevin looked to be coming out and for the ball to beat him and go into the corner of the net. Either lack of communication or just a major mix up.

Leafes 2nd goal was from a silly foul on the edge of the box by Richard Avery to which they struck a well taken hard & low freekick past the wall and into the bottom corner of the net.
We really do need to get our defensive problems sorted out as we still keep conceding silly goals from set pieces. God knows why it seems to be mainly set pieces that we concede from.

Brad Potter looked to have a good game at right back and certainly didn't seem to have any problems from what i could see, in fact he looked very comfortable and played some good balls down the wing to Ryno either to his feet or to release him on one of his runs.

We didn't give up though and kept battling away and we justly got our reward when first Ryno scored his 2nd of the game and then Briggsy scored from his deflected shot.

Hopefully Richard is back again soon after picking up his ligament injury, sounds like he's out for at least 4 weeks though.

What a fantastic attendance again today considering the weather and just after Christmas, lets hope that it keeps going and the crowds get bigger & bigger.

My MOTM goes to Ryno for his non stop effort today, great crosses and of course his 2 goals.

WELL DONE DARTS

Also very interesting to see that todays line up was exactly the same line up and positions as what i had posted a few days ago. /smug

I thought that Rhyno was quality today when he had the ball. The finish for the first goal was very cool and composed. I still do worry about his tracking back though, which can cause problems especially with the formation we were playing today. But to be fair, the quality he showed today on a tricky pitch was excellent and thoroughly deserved his MOM. Dave Martin however had a quiet game going forward, but was constantly tracking back and harassing which was good to see. You can't say its boring watching the Darts at the moment. How many goals have we seen so far this season, at both ends?

Oh and to correct an earlier comment, it was Steve Norman who played the ball in for Cass' goal, not Eddie. I thought that was his best game so far.

Cheers.
