John Farley was filming the game, so hopefully he got THAT goal on video, although i wdnt be suprised if he was caught outjust  like me, who bloody missed it !!!

Haven't enjoyed a match like that for a while - good spectacle for the crowd, and an enjoyable atmosphere with goals included.
Dave's second goal - possibly the best goal I've seen live ever. Really didn't expect to see that hitting the net, from where I was.

Especially glad to see Brendon chip in with his fourth hat-trick of the season. Didn't think Burgess Hill were the worst side I've seen this season, yet they've taken two poundings.

i know from various postings during the season that many of us including me feel the best way for us to play is a very simple  4 4 2.  nearly all english players grow up playing this way and understand it fully.tony finally cracked it yesterday and the interesting thing is the 6 players at the top end of the pitch were at the club on the first day of this season.two forwards two wingers and two hard working midfielders is the way forward.i hope tony has faith with this system and sticks to it home and away ,he does of course have the option to tinker with team selection but retain the system.

i dont believe in putting the mockers on or any form of mumbo jumbo and i am brave enough to say that we will #iss this league and go up as champions.i predict we will be 6 points clear at the top in one month.well done to the club :-D :-D

What a fantastic afternoon, made better by Fleet, Dover and Dulwich all coming a cropper. If we have many more games like this, we will need a scoreboard as I was very close to losing track of the goal tallly. Also, some flags on the roof would be useful to help judge wind conditions.

Tony Burman, sort out that bl**dy defence two soft goals again and just how many misses can those forwards be allowed, get a grip man.
Hold on lads just a note in jest for Tony who threatened to lockup our keyboards as he visited our table on race night which had several posters around including The Duke, Kentish Man, Gooner Paul, Martin C. T.L.D. and yours truly.

He also said he told Davey not to shoot from 40 yards and that Davey was not off just yet, well get re-negotiating Tony, because now he has two feet if it was ever in doubt.

What a game and goal, with missed chances 14 goals would not have flattered such was the dominance, yet as Gary said Burgess Hill were not the worst team we have played.

The best Darts performance for goals, skill and sheer out and out attacking football since Peter Taylor's days and I'm sure Tony was very proud of the team today as were we all.

Too many goals to relay here and it was also all happening too quickly for my poor old brain to take in, but suffice to say I was directly behind the goal exactly in line with the left hand cross bar and post looking from behind and with what a 6'6" goalie only a couple of yards off his line saw probably the best goal I will see in my lifetime and certainly the best in over 50 years of supporting The Darts.

Picking the ball up on the left hand touchline 40 yards out Davy checked, feinted to go outside the defender dragged the ball back onto his right foot as he turned inside, looked up and saw the keeper was only just off his line and thought "let's have a go", oh so powerfully hit (with the wrong foot ?) I was able to follow the flight of the ball directly in my line of sight from boot to inside the joint of crossbar and post, not a lob but sheer pace and accuracy which ricocheted off wood into the net, no keeper would have stopped it.

A team performance of the highest order and a credit to ther directors, management and fans, but also just reward for Jeremy, the council and especially Princes Park.

Without wishing to take anything away from an absolutely brilliant Darts' performance or implying that BH played c**p, I can't help feeling that the Hillians made it easy for us (even allowing for the GK's poor showing) by playing (or trying to play) the same sort of open, free-flowing, and honest game that we we try to play - only not half so well. We've played and will play teams that are a lot meaner, tougher and uncompromising. All credit to BH for the way they approach the game, but they just played into our hands yesterday - and boy, did they pay for it! TB will now have to make sure that yesterday doesn't go to the lads' heads and get them to roll their sleeves up for this coming Saturday.

Hunky Honky when you go 2-0 down so quickly you only have one option and that is to try and play football and this will leave room for us to exploit them at the back whether they should be defending or not.

I wonder if anyone has compared two great goals scored yesterday.  Both were breaks down the left wing, both fired in from distance that gave the keeper no chance.  The difference being one was scored by a French World Cup wiinner at Blackburn that will be seen by millions and is being considered a goal of the season contender.  The other by a young player just starting out and witnessed by a privileged 1000+ that will live in their memories for a long time.

I don't know which was the better goal.  They were both sublime.  I do know which one gave me the most pleasure though.  Take a bow Davey.

Credit must also go the the handfull of Burgess Hill fans that turned up to support their team and did try to make a bit of noise.

Even when they were 5 6 & 7 down they still carried on singing and getting behind their team which either shows they are completely mad or fully dedicated to their team whatever the scoreline & goings on out on the pitch.

In the end it looked as though they only had 3 left in their choir & were doing motions as though they were driving a car or something like that anyway, god knows what that was all about.

Still fair play to them when they could quite easily have just walked out of the ground before the end of the game.

One was scored by an over payed player in a naff team and one was scored by a real quality player who im sure will certainly go far given the chance who currently plays in a quality team. He gave massive pleasure to 1160 fans yesterday though that had the oppertunity to see it and thats all that matters, i doubt the 8 Burgess Hill fans were to happy though. :-D

Step forward Davey Martin to collect your goal of the season award, your football league carear is ging to start very soon.

If Dave Martins goal had been in the Premiership we'd be voting for it as a goal of the month/season. I've seen a few great goals in my time but never one hit with such power and accuracy. When a goal leaves you speechless then it's good, and that goal was good.

I too have heard rumours about Dave and Crystal Palace, I have done from a Palace fan at work over the last 2 weeks who seems quite well in with their Directors. I haven't put the full details on this forum because that wouldn't be right. That is for the powers that be at DFC not me to decide. However, if there were Millwall officials (personally I'm quite pleased) at the game then on todays performance from Dave he may have added a few grand to his worth and a bit of competition for this player from one or two league clubs will be good for both player and club.

I did think, as did DJJohn from the body language of the players to Dave before kick off and Dave's after the game that this might of been his last home game for us. I'm glad it's not, but if it was, then Dave, all I have to say that it was and has been a privalage to watch you at DFC.

As for the game, Briggs gets better and better, Ryan Hayes, genious, Lew Watts, Commanding, Brendan, Devastating and if Bruce had scored with his first touch the afternoon would have been perfect. It's been nearly 3 years since my first Darts game and with every performance I just feel prouder and prouder. A guy came in (neutral complaining about the £9 entrance fee) I explained to him that a lot of us thought the same a few months ago. But when I look at the ground and watch a performance like that, it's worth it!

Very proud to be a Dart

Some of the football yesterday was of the highest order. Quick slick one touch with movement and pace that was exceptional. I said to my mate before we'd even scored that it could be a walloping and once Dave got his first (which was a superb finish) it was game over. It's no exaggeration to say that it could have easily been 10, even more. To be fair Burgess Hill looked poor and once they started chasing the game they opened up even more which we exploited. Dave's second goal, well what can be said that hasn't been already. I was behind the goal and it looked in the moment it left his boot. You cannot get more top corner that that! Certainly one of the best shots I've seen live at any match (Premiership, Championship or Internationally).

The whole day was topped of by the banter of the crowd. The poor keeper must have been a nervous wreck by then end of the game. And the bare faced cheek of the Burgess Hill number 9  :-D  Certainly a great day up at Princes Park.
