You certainly can’t argue against the entertainment value since our return ‘home’.  With goals flying in from all angles – for and against – PP is certainly the place for a lively 90 minutes of family fun.  There is no doubting that the team has now discovered the mental toughness to turnaround 1 and 2 goal deficits, which earlier in the season would have resulted in ‘nil points’.  We are creating and scoring chances all over the pitch, which always gives us a chance of nicking a point or late win.  The obvious flaw is still our inability to keep out the opposition and post a few clean sheets. This has been a problem all season but will surely need to be corrected if we are to get the better of the sides vying for the title and play-off places and collect a title that is open to at least half dozen teams.

A final ‘thank you’ to Davy M for providing a lot of the excitement since signing at the start of last season.  His pace is a major asset and with his undoubted dedication I’m sure he will prove a great addition to either Palace or Millwall.  Davy still has plenty learn but I can’t think of a better tutor of the magic of wing craft than Peter Taylor, so given the choice I’d plump for Palace.  Which, as has already been stated, retains the DFC link with our former player manager.

I said in the earlier post that someone had said that Tom Adlington would be sent off. I just couldn't remember who said it and I was way to hyper to look back thru the posts for the actual quote   To be honest having had a direct view of the incident (it was almost directly in front of us) I would have thought that there was a case for criminal charges to be laid because the player was on the deck and doing nothing!

What a game . I do feel sympathy for Ashford who fully contributed to a very entertaining game and deserved something out of the game and suffice to say the return will be a very difficult game next month. Saying that well done to the lads to keep going until the death. Standing next to the honourable Mr.Clark at half time I said we would win 4-3 but after the sendings off I could not see us getting the winner , especially after the keeper somehow got his body in the way of that shot at the death . It is a shame that Jay got a red but can see where the ref was coming from in his decision and that Jay will probably miss 3 games as up until then he was awesome . The continuing saga of a lack of clean sheets continue to amaze me but at least we score more at the right end in most games.
On that form Ashford will cause most teams problems going forward and will soon rise up the league.
I found it difficult to watch Ryans penalty as was a little nervous of the outcome but well done to the boy to hold his nerve , I even joined in the chant of ' Ryno , Ryno ' afterwards.
Great entertainment for the 1470 , the attendances keep rising and as long as we keep entertain like Saturday they will continue to rise.

Yet another great game up at Princes Park. That game had everything. I thought the referee was mostly awful giving fouls for silly indescretions and letting more obvious "challenges" go. To be fair to him, he did play the advantage several times and called it back when no advantage accrued. But, both penalties were hugely debatable and I guess the "even up" policy was used for our penalty.

Like many have said, Ashford are now in a false position and I have not doubts they will finish mid table. Hope they can knick some points off the team around us nearing in mind we've got to goto Ashford in a couple of weeks.

Firstly, thanks for the honesty.  It's nice to hear rivals admit when the oposition have played well and deserved a result.  A certain other team in Kent (also in white) could learn from you guys.

Secondly, I have to say what a fantastic ground.  I don't think there can be a better stadium below the conference.  My only slight gripe is that we were a couple of minutes late because we couldn't find it.  Probably more down to our navigation skills, but a few signs would've helped.  Inside, the ground is superb, we didn't have to wait too long to get served at the bar at half time and having skysports is great.  I hope that everything remains as pristine as it is now.
Your fans were a credit and helpful, obviously also very proud of the new home.

Finally, let's get onto the match.
I thought your keeper was a touch unlucky with the opener, a great save which could've hit the bar and gone over.  The second was a case of determination and skill, I don't know what you guys made of Wally, but I think he was superb and looked like scoring whenever he got the ball (although admittedly lucky not to be sent off later on).

Once your first went in, I knew we would struggle to hold on.  And you looked like scoring the equaliser before half time.  When the leveler came, I thought it went straight in from the corner but apparently it was a glancing header.  Thought our keeper could've comanded the box better, but I was at the other end so perhaps you can confirm my suspicions.

Our third was a penalty, but I have seen them not given.  As for your 3rd, I won't dwell on that.  I thought our keeper had a bit of a mare and doesn't look good with high balls.  You lot were closer so perhaps you can confirm if he was indeed as bad as I thought (despite the save of the year later on).

If the game had finished at 3-3 it would've been fair.  We had a half hearted penalty apeal towards the end, which would've been generous if given.  I thought your penalty was generous, but I was at the other end so didn't have a great view.

I won't dwell on sending off, suffice to say Tom deserved to go.  Then we had the handbags and it was obvious the ref would send one of yours off.  Probably could've given a couple more reds.  I thought we got away with it a bit, if your guy hadn't retaliated it would've been 11 against 10.

Dave Martin - I thought he was fairly quiet for most of the game and wodered what the fuss was about, but when the game opened up in the last 10 minutes, he looked in a different class.  Hope he does well at a higher level, i'll certainly look out for his name.

Anyway, thanks for a great day out, despite the result.  I'd like to visit again next year, but with the ground and the support that you have you deserve to go up, especially if it's at the expense of Dover!!

Cheers

Fantastic for my second game attended, came last week and saw the burgess hill game and now this! talk about spoilt, the Darts certainly didn’t play with the same team skill as last week but showed huge determination to come back from a poor start, if a team shows character like that its no wander I’m already an addict after just two games.

P.S worse performance on the pitch the linesman on the seating side, I was in the same line and that was never offside shocking…

Come on the darts

It's nice to hear Ashford Town fans talking so kindly about Princes Park because Ashford had quite a lot to do with the design. Homelands was one of the grounds that a number of us (Councillors, Council Officers and DFC Directors) visited during a really interesting coach tour of various grounds in Kent and Sussex we took during 2004. (It was a no-fans tour because we didn't want PP to end up with a bar twice the size of the pitch with built in pole-dancing facilities!)

The idea of a large expansive glass front window with function rooms, board rooms etc overlooking the pitch was something that really impressed us about Ashford, and also the idea of a totally independent function room.  Design and architecture moves on but of all the grounds we visited that day - four or five I think, I personally found Homelands the most interesting and 'right' of them.

We came away with the feeling Nice Ground, Nice people.

I just wish Our council ABC, helped us as much as Dartford council helped develop and help DFC.  You would not believe the restrictions and things Ashford had to do to satisfy the council when building the ground, and its not as if its near any houses as such.  Its good for kent non league football to have Dartford back  playing at home again, and hopefully, once Maidstone get their own ground, we can look forward to some really big gates and cracking games.  I must say the ground is the best non league  stadium ive ever seen, in as much as its well thought out, and doesnt have the underused massive stands that some non league stadiums seem to think they need(Sittingbourne springs to mind).  Look forward to seeing you all at the Homelands and a big gate with hopefully you going for the title.  Its a shame that we are in such a poor position or we would have brought more fans along, as we seem to have lost a fair bit of support over the last 3 or 4 years.

I wouldnt be too hard on Tommy Adlington, as he isnt a dirty player at all, and wondered if something happened when he went into the tackle that none of us saw, and he reacted to.  Dont get me wrong he deserved to go, but it is very out of character for him.

Anyway thanks for the welcome and good luck in the winning the title, hopefully if you do go up, we can play you again in a cup game.

I don't think there is any doubt that if Ashford maintain the same tempo and attacking ability they displayed on Saturday for the rest of the season they will move up the table.  I know we will have to be at the top of our game in the return fixture if we are to pick up 3 points.  Good luck to them for the rest of the season.  Certainly don't want any Kent clubs to get relegated.  The local rivalry always adds a bit more interest.
