Sittingbourne Away - 10th Feb
« on: February 07, 2007, 01:02:17 PM »

The Brickies have been struggling a bit lately, so I fancy us to return to winning ways, and another clean sheet would be nice too. With Lew suspended I presume Richard will return if fit, or Brad Potter in defence?

By the way, I presume that Anthony Hogg will not be permitted to play against us as he's on loan? I hope he doesn't play for Sittingbourne, because I still don't think we've seen the best of Anthony and I'd like to see him back with the Darts soon.

Directions

By Car: Leave the M2 at junction 5, take the A249 towards Sittingbourne. Bear left at the first slip road and take the A2 towards Sittingbourne Town Centre. Follow the A2 into the one way system and follow directions to Canterbury (NOT the town centre) until you come to a roundabout (outside the station). Take the third exit, St Michael's Road, pass the fire station on your left and turn left into Crown Quay Lane (at the first set of traffic lights). Go under the railway bridge and up to a roundabout where you turn right into Eurolink Way. This road curves left at the end into Castle Road, continue along this road (DO NOT go up Dolphin Road) until you come to a small roundabout, take the second exit, Stadium Way, and at the end of this road turn right into Church Road and left into the football club car park through the large gates.

Sittingbourne FC now play on the Lower Pitch and NOT in the main stadium. Go immediate left once through the gates. Once in the car park follow the Sittingbourne FC sign under the barrier and down either the slope to your left or right  to the lower car park. You can also park in the car park up the slope if the lower one is full.  The ground is facing you with the turnstile to the right. . PLEASE DO NOT PARK BY ANY ENTRANCES as these may be needed for emergency vehicle access.

However we need to keep our fingers crossed because snow is predicted the next few days...
Hopefully come saturday afternoon we wont all be let down by an AM pitch inspection
Life without the Darts on a Saturday can be pretty Dull

Heavy snow in Kent must make Saturdays game doubtful. Unless there's a big thaw then still a dobt as the pitch down there is not the best.

More worrying is the suspensions that will keep going until three matches are played. We need to be at full strength for our trip to the Crabble and both Jay and Lew would be massive losses were they not available.

More important that they're back for Tooting and Maidstone IMO.

I am given to understand that the Sittingbourne pitch is a bit ropey, to say the least. Even if we don't get any more snow before Saturday afternoon, what are the odds of today's snow, now that it's thawing/thawed, making the pitch unplayable - either because it's waterlogged or because it's frozen? If the match does get cancelled, does that mean that Lew Watt's suspension will extend into the Dover game? :?

There is a message on the Sittingbourne site informing players that training will not take place tonight and asking them to watch for messages about Saturday.

Looking forward to Saturday and another visit to Wheelie-bin World. Should be well over 1,000 at the game if you count the 783 wheelie-bins that were present last time we played them. What a load of rubbish.

Well that must be illustrative of the wonderfully generous and unbridled support that the Brickies receive from their local council.

If only Dartford......  :-D

I like playing Sittingbourne, they have a decent, good natured bunch of fans who get behind their team. I seem to remember that we have done quite well at their place in recent years as they have done quite well at ours. Hopefully this trend will continue until the end of this season.
