12th February 2007 Notes
« on: February 12, 2007, 12:57:07 PM »

Sorry to start with the same old line but seven days is a long time in
football.I realise that some of you thought last weekend was not very good
but I hope this weekend as made you feel a lot better. All week I have been
trying to strengthen the squad because of suspensions and injuries to key
players with no luck what so ever. But the search will continue as we move
into a very important part of the season.
Having said all that we still managed to put out a very strong squad for
Saturdays game with Sittingbourne.when we arrived at the ground and went out
to have a look at  the pitch the first thing we said was Brad Potter as got
to play. The next thing we said was that we cannot play football into feet we
would have to hit the ball from the back upto the front lads into the
channels and that is why Steve Hafner played up front and did so well.I must
admit it did surprise me to read some of the posting saying we played some
very good football and looking back maybe we did but the order of the day
was to get the ball behind there back four and let Steve and Bren work there
socks off which they did so well.
I have to say that on Saturday under the circumstances I felt very proud of
all my players there work rate and determination to win the game was second
to none and they deserved the win and three points which keeps us in
contention with everybody.
Tomorrow we have another tough game away to Ashford a team who I was very
impressed with when they played at PP.The players are in training tonight to
go over one or two things, I am not concerned were we or Ashford are in the
league its a Kent derby with three points up for grabs and we will be
focused on just that.

I would like to clear up the situation regarding Anthony Hogg.In the Ryman
league there is no loan registration forms. When a player goes on loan it is
a gentleman's agreement between the clubs the managers and the player. We had
to cancel Anthony's registration so he could register with Sittinboune for a
minimum of 28 days.At the end of the 28 days Sittingbourne should have
cancelled the registration and we re register Anthony as a player for us.The
terms of that gentleman's agreement was that all parties new that Anthony
weather he stayed with Sittingbourne or not was not to play against us on
Saturday. To be fair to Anthony he wanted a guaranteed place in a first team
which I could not give him,I do not think he got any pleasure from playing
or scoring against his former club but his new club in my opinion put him
under pressure to play which broke the gentleman's agreement and showed a
total lack of respect for dfc and me personally.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT
