To be fair to Maidstone Council, they have supported us over the past couple of years, even to the extent of providing a low interest loan and allowing us to "buy" a samll piece of land to enable to stadium to go forward.  Admittedly not much, but a) they don't have the huge amounts of income from developers that Dartford has had and b) its one hell of a lot more than we've ever had in the past!

As for the playing budget, we have actually CUT the budget this year (hence the departure of our club captain and a couple of others this season) to free up funds for the new ground.  Aside from 3 players, the squad that has taken to the top of Ryman 1 is the same squad that won the Kent League last year - a very similar story to Ramsgate last year.

As for our chairman, he has taken us from the Kent County League division 5 to the verge of Ryman Premier in less than 15 years.  Having coped with 8 promotions, I'm sure he'll be able to cope with a ninth!

Obviously, I hope the Stones get the automatic spot this year, but it would be great for Kent football if you to "come join us" next season too.

No complaints from me regarding the result ,pitch was poor butthat is no excuse,  the stones are in form and we are not so letsforget it now and move on . I have nothing against MUFC and good luck to them for the season but I am only interested in DFC and the progress we have made in 2 years from relegation fodder to promotion hopefuls .we have 30 points to play for ,so lets get as many in the bag as possible andget promoted!!!! COME ON YOU DARTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Be interested to know what the league made would make of that pitch especially if a player gets a bad injury and decides to take legal action. We have had essex schools games called off for a lot less because the risk of injury is so high. Not sour grapes about the result as the best team won, just a genuine concern for any teams that play on that each week!

I'm sorry Maidstone, I was in a provocative mood last night and I'm in no position to comment on the level of the efforts of helping MUFC as I have no clue what they are.

However, one thing DBC has proved is that a stadium has a positive effect on the community and reminds me why I used to build them when playing Sim City on the Amiga. What price can you put on that? To be fair to Maidstone council, maybe their capital reserves aren't on the same level as DBC's.

I won't get into the Park debate further as I am obviously going to lose that one and this is not the forum on which it should be discussed. Dartford Town Centre's lovely though isn't it so why change? OOOOPPPPSSS. Sarcasm is not my strong point.

I'm not sure the quality of the pitch is a physical danger to players (other than drowning) as it might be for example if frozen, but more to damage the quality of the football on display.

Forget the quality of the pitch I’m still suffering from a stiff neck from all those long high balls into our penalty area Saturday. As for the long throws, they were like mortars and did you notice they had a towel man on both sides of the pitch to clean the ball before it was fired or do I mean launched. The last time I saw long ball play like that was when Chris Kinnear was at Dover. It was pretty effective though. No doubt the word will go round to all our rivals to bombard our penalty area with long high ball s as we can’t handle them. Just a shame we got rid of Tony Henry, our best defender in the aerial department who had these valuable attributes and the composure to go with it. Saying that he was also quite good on the ball, well better than some of the defenders we have now.

Still let’s move forward and string a few results together before seasons end. You never know we might just make the play-offs, even though we don’t deserve to be in the mix after the recent run of results.

Did anyone see Chairman Dave get hit by the ball on Saturday by one of the Maidstone players (could have been Lloyd Hume) they seemed to be having a heated discussion???

John

It was Steve Irving that got hit in the side of the head with the ball and not Dave Skinner as i don't think Dave was there. I didn't actually see the incident but i did see Steve exchanging a few words (if you can call it that) with Lloyd Hume, Steve certainly wasn't a happy man with mud all over the left hand side of his face and over his left shoulder of his suit.

I think Steve had literally only just walked into the ground when it happend, it wasn't actually Hume who kicked the ball it was one of the players but what caused the actual problem was that there was absolutely no appology from anyone from Maidstone, the player who kicked the ball or Hume.

Thanks for clearing that one up Matt.

That would make sense as Dave is the official safety officer at PP. I was just quoting from the Maidstone forum who seem to be having a cheap pop at one of our directors mostly instigated by their forum administrator Brian. Can you imagine Gary scooping that low on here? I don’t think so.

Very disappointed with the Maidstone fanzine editor Bryan. He seemed a decent sort of bloke, when  we invited him to put the Stones side , in the home match programme.  I remember he wrote a very good piece. However, he has now shown his true colours. It seems that a Maidstone player, manager, and now the fanzine editor, have shown themselves to be worthless cowards, revelling in someones pain. There have been many people building bridges between the two clubs, but it only takes the thoughtless actions of two or three to undo the good work. Its a shame.
Hope you're proud of yourself Bryan.
