Surprise Surprise - Pitch inspection at Sittingbourne!! Bet its called off there tonight (Why I hear you say) because its a Tuesday night and the away team won't have the support that we take away, so there is no financial benefit to playing it.

also it's been raining flat out since the game on saturday, i'm guessing that had something to do with the postponement.

Probably.

Not having a dig at you guys because the best team won on saturday, I just felt with the teams we had, the game would have been much better on a proper surface rather than a mud bath. It really did seem that the only reason it went ahead was for financial motives. We certainly didn't get to see the best of your lad who ended up on the bench and you didn't get to see the best of Ryno. Thats why I hope todays game is off for us - I like to see good football - win (hopefully), lose or draw!

I'm going to leave this one now as I guess it should really be on the other thread.

Tonight's match at The Homelands has fallen victim to a waterlogged pitch.

What a surprise!

If anyone was planning to go to Welling v Thurrock at PP tonight, there is 3.00pm pitch inspection.

Ashford have a big backlog now, and are already committed on all other Tuesdays in March.

Assuming the season has to be completed by the end of April, that only leaves 3rd, 17th and 24th April for our rearranged fixture at Homelands, by which time we will doubtless be in the midst of a major drought, a hosepipe ban, and beefing about the rock hard grassless playing surfaces  :-D

Ashford are already playing on the 17th and 24th of april, in fact the only tuesday they have available between now and the end of the season is 3rd April!

They'll certainly try and squeeze it in before the end of April because I believe any team that doesn't fulfill their fixtures by then are liable to a fine (£30,000 if rumours are correct)!

I know you can't help the weather but this is starting to get ridiculous the amount of times this match has been postponed , i think it's about the 3rd time now isn't it.

With the huge amount of fixtures Ashford have got to sqeeze in now surely they must have to start looking at playing some of these fixtures at someone elses ground due to the fact their pitch can't hold a cup full of water let alone when it chucks it down.

I guess that if you do decide to build a ground on a swamp then you might expect a few cancelled matches eh!
