Ashford Town Away Match - 20th March 2007 - again?
« on: March 08, 2007, 09:54:39 AM »

Just heard this game may now be on Tuesday 20th March.
Ashfords scheduled game for that night with Cray has been cancelled due to Cray being in Westview Cup.

Gary, if this is correct i will leave it in your capable hands to start the match thread.

This is correct, and I'll probably crown this the match thread :)

According to the forecast I saw on TV around tea-time today, the snow next week is not (yet) expected to get as far south as Kent, so fingers crossed (but wrap up warm because it IS gonna be colder).

If the games on I would expect a pitch similar to Godalmings in terms of hard, bumpy and windy (it's always like it when its not rained off and muddy) so we must stick to the task and take the opportunities when they arise and make fewer mistakes.

If this game goes ahead, it will be a lot more difficult than many people have suggested on threads across this forum.

Ashford are a team with good players, they have failed to get any rhythm going recently because of their pitch. Make no mistake they will give us a tough game. They pushed us all the way at PP and we had Davie causing most of the trouble in that game.

We haven't been playing with any fluency recently, and in the 2 recent games we have won without really getting going. That will not happen on Tuesday night. We will have to improve the quality of distribution and movement and keep up the commited attitude that has never been in doubt since Tony Burman took over. If we do not find another gear, we are going to struggle against these guys. Don't just look at the table to assess the opposition.

Yes Ashford haven't had the luck of Dulwich & Dartford in high scoring games, as they seem to be able to score goals but let more in as we know from our 4-3 win and their last two results 2-3 & 3-3.

So our defense has to be at it's best on Tuesday and we must try to score at least two to get anything from the game and preferably all three points.

Heard that there has been a bit of rain down that way - is the game definitely on?

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! With the weather changed as it has, I think that all in all I'm rather glad I won't be finishing work in time enough to get to the match tonight. So I'd be grateful if all of those going would cheer the lads on for us, keep us updated on the scoreline and bring back all 3 points. As it happens, the only other match of immediate relevance to us tonight is Fleet v Horsham YMCA, so I shall be looking out for that result as well.

Come on you Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarts!!!
