Thought the lads gave 100% last night, right the way through. Just couldn't plant the ball in the net. Still can't think why the goal was disallowed.
Thought Lew run his legs off, his best perfomance so far for me.
A bit worrying at the end, almost done a whopsie when Kess decided he wanted to play right back. Jesus.
And bloody cold, had to get a blow torch on the wife at the end. Still, nothing new there then.
See you all Saturday

I don't know where you were standing Ozy, but with regard to the incident to which you refer, I personally I thought Kess was the hero, not the villain, when he was forced to "play right back". It seems a bit churlish to find fault with anyone, after what was a pretty good night for the defence, but if anyone is deserving of a "special" mention for the (almost) cock-up at the end, it should be Tommy Osbourne for the under-hit back pass that forced Kess to come screaming off his line to save the day. Considering he hadn't had to do anything else all night, I thought he deserved credit for staying alert.

Oh, and the half a dozen Darts fans standing on the side, level with the edge of the penalty box, were all gutted but honest enough to admit that our disallowed goal was definitely offside. I can't think why they would say this if it wasn't so.

as one who delights in giving the oppos keeper some  "teddy " [ within the bounds of banter !!]  with the sole intention of winding him up , i have no problem if as last night it rebounds on us and the guy concerned gives us some back . i think to lexpect the guy to listen to darts fans giving him stick for 90 minutes and not expecting a reaction at the end of 90 minutes is a bit optimistic   !!!!

we are no strangers to industrial language so if you dish it out then expect it back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just remember that football is a passionate game and red mist does appear often without planning it !!!!!!!!!!!

I THOUGHT THE SOLE POINT OF WINDING A PLAYER UP WAS TO PUT HIM OFF HIS GAME AND IF YOU GOT A REACTION LIKE THAT YOU SUCCEDED.JUST REMEMBER-NOTHING SUCCEDES LIKE A TOOTHLESS BUDGIE :-D

Disappointing result but cannot fault the effort from the lads. The wind didn't help last night and I still can't figure out some of the decisions - the goal being disallowed didn't make sense as the player run from behind the defender and I felt we had a couple of decent penalty shouts. I would love to know how the ref managed to book the defender for a foul in the box (pointed to the place where it had happened) yet didn't give the penalty.

Shame about their keeper at the end. Yes we did give him stick during the game and perhaps some of it was a little ott but his reaction was terrible for a semi-pro player. To swear at the crowd and try to wave us on the pitch for a fight is terrible. I had an interesting chat with their steward who said she would speak to the club officials but apparently he did the same to another set of away fans the other week! I just felt that on another night with another set of fans that could have turned very nasty. Noticed the ref and the Ashford officials ignored his antics. I wonder if the league are aware of his conduct? Do feel like lodging a formal note to them.

To the elder darts fan who defended the keeper and accused me of abusing the bloke - I called the keeper a "Lucky Git" after he saved the ball and it spun inches over the bar - he turned and called me a c**t twice! Obviously he's a nice bloke and I need to moderate my language. I also pointed out the number of keepers that we have seen this year and none of them reacted like the Ashford fella. In fact Chuck at Molsey enjoyed the banter throughout.

Oh well onwards and upwards!

I think every keeper has to be able to take a bit of stick. We obviously got to him  :-D maybe some of the comments hit home  :-D :-D
just a shame it didnt result in a goal. i remember old chuck, also the Cray keeper had a laugh with us as well. Couldn't belive the ref didnt do anything.

What a game to choose to travel down for !! It was ffffffreeezing ! First half was pretty poor and to be honest I quite fancied staying in the bar to watch from the warm but I'm glad I didn't because vocally the support was great for most of the half and it was a much improved performance. We had nearly all the half and should have taken all three points, their keeper pulled off a flukey save towards the end which was very similar to one he didn't know about at PP - then he gave the fans some stick and I was just hoping he would cock up again (like he did at PP) but Ashford somehow held on. I was expecting the pitch to be bad but it looked in very good nick and seemed a good surface. It was difficult to pick out a man of the match, I don't think anybody really stood out but John Guest had a very solid game and put away his disallowed goal well (was he offside ??) so he shaded it for me. Have we found a new Maurice Munden by the way ????

A good battling performance by the lads lastnight especially Brendan who was non stop running all night and was back defending at times as well and got my MOTM vote.

Gutted about the goal that wasn't and looked a good goal from where i was behind the goal (never offside) but if the few of our fans standing at the side have all said that it WAS offside then fair enough as they had a better view than me.

Some very good defending by our lads especially in the first half in that very gusty and bloody cold wind, you didn't realise just how strong the wind was until the 2nd half down the far end of the ground. It was only then that you realised how well our defence had played and did so well to keep the ball down and clear their lines so well where as Ashford just couldn't do this, just kept skying the ball in the air and the wind just blew it straight back at them.

We do need to learn to take a few more shots and some a bit further out at times as really the Ashford keeper didn't have a lot to do all game except near the end he pulled off the odd save. Ashfords defenders closed us down well as we went to take some shots and managed to block them well, our biggest problem seems to be that we keep trying to walk the ball into the back of the net instead of taking a few more shots from the edge of the box or from outside as long as they aren't wild shots.

I do have to agree with whoever it was that said we did miss Eddie in the midfield lastnight, although Carl Bruce tried he certainly isn't an  xeddie by a longshot.

At the end of the day a point is a point and we need as many as we can pick up now, i would've prefered all 3pts as we all would but i will take 1pt rather than nothing at all.

Roll on Saturday when hopefully we will take all the points.

The same thing happened at Horsham when one of our supporters' went "postal" over what was a fairly tame and insignificant gesture by one of their players.

What, he put a stamp on him ?

Full marks for effort but little for goal attempts as we only forced their keeper to make one save which he very nearly turned into his own net from a Ryno effort.

All the players were giving 100% but when they can't take the opportunities to shoot on target or try to walk the ball in then we play right into the hands of their defense and they were able to keep a clean sheet.

No arguements about the disallowed goal, if the guys on the side lines say it was off side fair enough.

We were sadly lacking the craft and skills of Eddie in midfield plus those forward runs and with Ryno totally unmarked in acres of space for 90 minutes we really didn't get the ball out to him enough, but when we did he looked dangerous with runs to the bye line or crosses swinging into the box.

Equally though he wasted a number of corners and free kicks with poor overhit crosses and he couldn't seem to allow for the wind on the night.

The defense must have played a blinder in the first half because Ashford had no real chances to speak of as we cut out their efforts to attack and we cleared the ball well up field against the wind and it looked so easy from the other end.

It only became apparent to us as we stood behind the other goal for the second half and felt the strength and bite of the wind and watched the pathetic attempts of their defenders to clear their lines only to see the ball hardly move out of the area or go straight into touch for throw ins or corners.

One point not really enough on the night but better than nothing and although not directly involved with attempts on goal but for sheer non stop running I gave my M.O.M. to Cassie who covered most of the pitch in their half chasing the ball down.

As for their keeper well who really cares once the game is over, my attitude is to shout with others reasonable abuse about any keepers performance in order to try and put them off a bit, but I always acknowledge when good keepers pull off a save, equally I make a mental note when they return a bit of comic banter back to us during the game, this usually suggests a class keeper who more often than not will applaud us fans at the end of the game to show no hard feelings whatever the result.

This poor keeper was never going to make any good saves to earn a bit of praise, was only intent on trying to wind up the fans with gestures or comments during the game and showed his true colours after the final whistle which summed up his character and the actions showed disrespect to the opposing players as he ignored them, but as a fan more intent on going home out of the cold it meant little to me but I just made a mental note crap keeper at Ashford. /smug
