Today was the sort of match I sometimes feel the MOTM award system maybe needs changing a bit. Jay May is the obvious candidate for this mtach, but at present there is no way of recognising other players' contributions. For instance, others have already mentioned Brad Potter, Steve Norman and Brendan Cass. I would be nice to be able, say, to award 1st, 2nd and 3rd places (or just 1st and 2nd?), but it's not a possibility that I raise with much hope of seeing it adopted. Anybody else have any views.

I don't agree with that at all, people vote for who they think deserves the MOTM vote.

If Jay had scored his hatrick but didn't do anything else all game and hardly ran at all or put any real effort in where as say Ryno / Brendan / Brad Potter or whoever had ran their socks off all game and played really well then people are more likely to vote for them.

Jay has earned his votes not just because of his hatrick but purely because he put in so much effort and bloody well ran his socks off all game. Cassy only just lost out to Jay with my vote.

Ryno scored a hatrick against Croydon but he didn't get my vote, that went to Lew Watts.

I agree with Hunky, ok I thought that Jay, in the long run deserved it for his hat-trick. But I also thought that Steve Norman played really well. For a small bloke he wins a lot of headers, and his distribution down the left was excellent. Also Brad played well and showed his determination for Tony to pick him automatically. Even if it did earn him a booking.
You could also say that after Tuesday's perfomance, Ryan had a stinker yesterday. So much for needing the surface for a good performance.
Having said all that, bring on Dulwich, where we are going to need a good one from everybody.
Lets stuff'em.

we won ugly yesterday, it was a poor game and the scoreline flattered us ,but it was 3 points and we will hopefully improve for next weeks 6 pointer with dulwich. eddie and ryno are our flare players and neither of them were anywhere near their best, so it was left to hard work from jay and co against mediocre oppo .I am a steve norman fan,but i wish he would get forward more cos he has a great left foot and is one of the best headers of the ball we have . come on you dartssssssssssssssssss!!!!

very interesting jason,it is fantastic how we all see different things.i thought brad potter spent a lot of time in the cc half in the first half and was always available to ryan and others and could have been used a bit more but you are right he had two opportunities to put telling crosses in but they both landed too short and not deep enough.
i forgot to mention that the ref had a great game .its impossible to get everything right but he kept up with play throghout, best ref at pp this season

Jay May rightly looks likely to get the MOM and has my vote, not just because he scored a hat trick but because despite poor service for most of the game he never stopped running to look for the ball and layed on a goal for Brendan.

Which brings me on to Brendan who yet again for me absolutely worked his socks off with tireless running and who at one point in the first half made a very telling tackle on the edge of our box and it gave me most joy in the game to see him get a goal after several attempts by Jay to set him free.

As for the game, well as others have commented we were very poor first half with balls in the air and little football on the deck and to be honest apart from the Steve Norman free kick against the bar we didn't have a shot.

But more worrying we were very poor in defense and Corinthians had several chances to shoot but luckily for us those off target were hard high and wide, with those at goal soft and straight at Kessy.

Pleased to see Eddie start but he was obviously not fit and Briggsy coming on as a sub for the second half allowed us a bit more control in midfield and he played well, which is more than can be said for Ryno who had one of his poorer days, with set pieces and crosses mostly being over hit, but he did get one right which allowed Jay to glance in a header at the near post from a corner in the first half.

Never feeling confident at 1-0 it was a relief to see Jay take his second so well after being put through and place the ball to the keepers right hard and low.

He was looking for the hat trick and when it came he created the goal out of nothing, making space for himself in the box avoiding a tackle and firing hard and low to the left of the keeper along the ground and albeit that the ball bobbled over the keepers hand after a bad bounce he throughly deserved it.

Cassies goal was well taken and a just reward on the day, but it flattered us at 4-0 and we will have to do a whole lot better next week against Dulwich, who even without their star striker will not miss chances like those given away today by the defense.

Jay May was definitely man of the match yesterday, not only did he score goals and work hard he controlled the ball so well and held the ball up when his back was to goal and tried to bring players into the game.  I thought Cass deserved his goal too because he made a few clever runs into the box.  It wasn't pretty yesterday but four goals, none conceded and three points it was a good result.  Good to hear others at the top dropped points, so not a bad weekend (if we exclude England's performance!).

We have the best strike pairing in the league, yesterday proved it again. 4-0 no real complaints but thought in hindsight if we had really played well, with a fully fit Eddie we would have had double figures against another poor side. At this stage though its all about results, keep winning Darts, lets see where we will finish up.

Jay May got my MOM not just on goals alone, i thought he was excellent yesterday, holding the ball up produced some fine passes and goals (and chasing down the opp). Also well done Cassy, he had a good game and great for him to get a goal at the end for confidence (as he has missed a few chances of late). Think we need other players to push up the feild a bit to help them out, sometimes we seem relectant to. Keep spreading the play about we can play some good football down those wings. Hopefully eddie will be fit on saturday!!!

It was a thorough and efficient victory without being spectacular. Good performances from most of our lads but Brendan and Jay were the shining lights for me. Brendan worked his socks off and finally got the goal he deserved having missed a couple of great chances earlier, Jay worked even harder and was absolutely fantastic .... how anyone who watched the game could even consider voting for someone else as MOTM absolutely astounds me. Another very good performance from the lads and with the other results going quite well for us it was a good weekend all round.

As for the music. "Start Me Up" was played but very quietly. I could see DFCJohn gesticulating to the guy from the pitch to turn it up but to no avail. Good to hear it played though and long may this continue.

10 points out of 12 and we've got Dulwich next week who only managed a nil - nil. Surely there can't be a better time for us to play them than now.

I did crank it up when john motioned me to, but you gotta understand, i cant hear the sound level, and being  under pain of death by chairman dave if its heard over the road, my hands are tied. But we will work on it.

Yes, we have music, but it seems to have been turned down so quiet that you can barely hear it .... or the stadium announcements either.

I didn't even realise we had run out to music until I read it here!!!

I am working on the sound levels with Chairman Dave and hopefully they will be a little better for the Dulwich game especially with regards to the announcements .Apologies to those of you who could not hear on Saturday but when we walked around the ground an hour and a half before the game it did seem to be ok ,it will improve i promise .As for Spike ,how many times have i told you to get a hearing aid.
