I enjoyed watching this game  and agree with most that Dulwich are perhaps the best attacking side in this league with their speed and accuracy.

Our defense played well for most of the game and although their number 10 seemed to be able to turn and lose any of our players, when chances came Dulwich's way we had men back behind the ball blocking the shots that were on target.

A great start for us on 7 minutes created by another run by Eddie through their defense into the box with a shot that the keeper couldn't hold and finished off well by Jay.

Not alot more in the way of chances for us in the first half but the defense looked good and coped well with the wind.

Second half we did create 3-4 good chances any one of which would have gained us the points but as Grassbank said the ball got stuck under the forwards feet just at the wrong moment or in Cassie's case he just left it too late to shoot when clean through.

For me on the other hand, although Dulwich were constantly counter attacking I felt as the game went on I gained more and more confidence in our defense and I didn't expect the equaliser to come.
(how different from earlier in the season or seasons past)

How wrong was I when Brad gave the ball away with a bad short pass straight to the opposition who countered and next second bang straight into the top corner, a super goal created from a mistake but an unstoppable finish.

Absolutely gutted at the end but we didn't loose, however almost everyone else around us won and that makes a big big difference with our destiny now in the hands of others with games in hand.

We must win our two remaining games at home, but now we really must win the games away and get as many points on the board as possible and none will be easy, but the higher the points tally the more the opposition has to get to knock us further down the table.

Come on you Darts what do points make, a bl**dy sight better chance of finishing in the play off's and the higher the points score the better the prize with a possible home advantage as well.

Tommy Osbourne and Steve Norman were both exceptional today as well i think this was probably Ozzy's best game i've seen him play for a very long time and it's going to be him who gets my MOTM vote today.

looks like you're finally seeing the light 5th :-D :-D :-D

Has anyone stopped to think that the reason we left 3-4 players back on the half-way line at our corners was that DH were leaving 3-4 players up on the half-way line. Although getting 10 men in and around the box for corners might have been good positive attacking play, it would hardly have made sense to leave ourselves wide open to the counter, would it, especially to a team like DH.
What does annoy me sometimes, though, is how seldom we have anybody lurking 10-15 yards outside their box from corners or free-kicks to pick up the clearance. How often do the oppo pick up that second ball? 9 times out of 10 at least? :?

Yes, well done on needing a penalty to beat a team we put 13 goals past this season!

Now be nice, you'll be supporting us in a couple of weeks time!

On the corner front, I don't mind having players back on our half way line to stop the counter when we're 1-0 up, but at 1-1 with 5 minutes to go in a game we need to win?

IMO that was one of the best games of football this season , if not the best. DH are the best footballing side in this league (not including THE DARTS) and we still managed to create twice as many chances as them.I thought everyone of THE DARTS players played well but quite a few were excellent. I believe if we play like that in our remaining games we will win the all of them.  C.O.Y.D.

Many posters have previously said that DH had been the best team in the league this season. Saturdays performance certainly showed them to be a very quick team and their Jamacian forward/midfielder with the hair bun. Phil Williams, certainly was their dangerman with an action packed display which was the main reason we found ourselves on the back foot for much of the match.

DH certainly won the points on possession, but we won the points on chances created, so all in all a point shared was probably a true result for the match. Even when we went a goal up, I always felt there was a chance of DH scoring one. Just a pity we couldn't have taken the opportunity to add a second goal before DH scored their equaliser. Felt Ryno didn't really get into the game properly. He's a strong lad and there were flashes when he made excellent contributions to the game, but in the main he seemed a bit off the pace and on the performance it wasn't a surprise when TB gave Stevie Haffner his chance. Also, probably a little disappointed with Mark Green as it was the first time I had seem him since he signed on and from past reports I was expecting a little bit more from him. Possibly the fact we had our two men not quite at the races meant that DH took control of the midfield battle.

The back four seemed under almost constant pressure and I thought coped very well with the fast moving DH forwards. Eddie and Lew were both putting in good performances and Eddie's contribution to our goal was so superb he deserved the goal for himself.

Also thought Jay and Cassie were combining very well up front and in fact were most unlucky not to have added further to their season's goal tally.
Their keeper brought off one outstanding save as well.

It's most unusual for me to be able to cast my vote for MoM as I was actually there for this match. For this match, my vote has gone to Ossie. Some might have been criticising him earlier in the season. but for me in the four games I've seen him this season, he hasn't had a bad game and yesterday he certainly put in a captains performance. He covered so much ground and did both sterling defensive work and trying to get moves going forward. Not far behind were the remaining defenders and Eddie Mac. All in all a well balanced and enjoyable match which could have gone either way. Just hope these dropped points don't cost us though when the final reckoning comes.

Well played Darts. Heads down for the final five games.

A really enjoyable game of football, and it proved IMHO that ourselves, Dulwich and Tooting are the best footballing sides in this division, without exception. I was really disappointed that we couldn't quite hold on for the win, and that after the defence had been excellent, it was a needless personal mistake that lost us posession and led to the goal. In fairness though, it was still an excellent finish. As has already been said though, what really cost us was missed chances, and had Jay or Cassie put either of their great second half chances away, then all three points would have been ours, and Dulwich couldn't really have complained.

My MOTM was without a doubt Tommy Osbourne. I'd go as far as to say that was the best performance I've ever seen him put in for the Darts. Eddie was excellent too, but frankly when he's fit, that's what I expect of him now.

Finally, well done to the Referee. He had an excellent game and he shone out in comparison to some of the performances from the men in black that we've seen this season!

sorry guys i dont want this to sound as if i know better than tony because i dont and i also cannot pick our best starting 11 because i dont know what it is.i thought we were superb on saturday against a very good team and i was glad to get the point.

it is something TLD said in his posting about Lew Watts which i strongly agree with.Last week i was quick to criticise Lew and said that he played like he had fridays 6 pints in him.i did not mean it litterally though.i agree that on saturday he was slow to the ball a number of times but he has great experience and somehow on nearly every occasion he recovered his blip.it is interesting that when brad gave the ball away in midfield for the goal he did not recover the error and the goal was scored.my point , unless Lew was injured or ill i would not have taken him off.

as for ryan i did not understand why he went off especially as he was beggining to get the better of his full back and i also think it is a myth about him not tracking back .i think he does as much as i would expect from a man that is a true winger.i just wish he played 90 minutes of every game and on the left.

its a tough division everyone now has to give their best for the play off to happen

As nice as it is to see so much praise for the ref(and I also agree with the praise, he done very well).  I'd like to offer a different stance to his performance.

I believe that the game was played between 2 teams who both wanted to play football the way it was supposed to be played.  There were no really bad challenges, no needless time wasting, no diving or feigning injury and no trying to cheat the other team.  It was a game played with as much sportsmanship as I've probably ever seen with both sides respecting each other, the officials and the game.  It was a breath of fresh air to watch a game played in this manner and therefore probably a very easy game to referee!

The ref also played with the same spirit as the teams and didn't spoil the event, which many other refs might have.

My first game in about six weeks and one that I thouroughly enjoyed. We could have won, perhaps we should have won...but you know, we're still in the hunt. I was actually pretty impressed that we came out and played football under some strong pressure (esp in the first half).

Other points:

I bought a hat...a good day for it with that sun. Near perfect footballing conditions IMO.

I love the fact we now have a music license!

Their number 10 was a different class...no doubt about it.

Not really agame for Lew, although he did well before giving way to Brad.

Eddie Mac...what can you say except very well played?

Jay May....seemed to struggle in the air (unusual for the big fella)

Oh...and I got to go in TB's office to pay for my hat  :-D.  Nice Setup in their Tony

Come on peeps, lift those head and let's look forward to next weekend!

Before the game I had a strong feeling that the score would be 1-1 but I desperately hoped we could get the win.
In the first half I thought we were really hanging on and it looked like it was only a matter time
before Dulwich would score but in the second half I felt we were really defending well and we looked
the more likely team to score, so I came away from the game feeling like we lost.

Seems against the better teams in this league we loose control of midfield and that is still where we still need strengthening.
If we should get promotion TB should sign their number 10 who was by far the best player on the pitch and the best
midfield player I have seen in this league, he ran the show for them and never once lost possession or misplaced a pass.

I thought Ryan Hayes worked hard and never hid but it was one of those days when nothing came off for him
and I would have liked to see Haffy come on earlier.

I also could not understand our tactics in defending corners if you bring everyone back you have no outlet when the ball gets
cleared and it just comes straight back to you, if you leave two up the opposition will bring three back to mark them so it should be
easier to defend.

Over the last few weeks we have had some real big/important games Tooting (H), Dover (A), Maidstone (A) and Dulwich (H)
and we have only managed three points from those matches, I think that has proved that we are not quite good enough but
still only one of those teams beat us, so on our day we are a match for just about any team in the league. If we can put in a massive
effort from now until the end of the season promotion is still possible, so lets go for it.
