To all,

As I have little history to the names of some of the past names of this club.

I assume Paul H. is an old player?

This must be a bit of good news by the looks of the posts - could someone let me in on the detail

Paul was initially signed by Bob Makin from G & N who played at left back. He had an eye for goal in his time with us and was the regular penalty taker. He had a sweet left foot on him and was good a getting forward with his overlaps…remember them??? Unfortunately a facial injury called time on his playing days.

Hope this helps Emu. I’m sure Mr. Trevor B (stato) will fill you in greater detail.

Paul first joined Dartford in the 1983-4 season, having been an apprentice at Brighton. He later moved on to Crockenhill, Corinthians and Gravesend, before returning to the Darts in the 1991-2 season. He was with the club at the time of the sale of Watling Street, returning when the new club was started in the Kent League. He also had short spells at Erith and Herne Bay.

Great news, Henno was a favourite of many Darts fans and it was with some alarm after he was carried off at Purfleet that we heard that  his injury had developed into a far more serious condition whilst in hospital (was it meningitis?)

Needless to say when he came back from injury we all welcomed him, but his stay was short term and to see him returning back now to Princes Park will hopefully see him settle in with the Under 21's and a successful new season.

Its good to see Paul back with the Darts although I didn't see him play many times he always looked a positive player. However it does help to explain why he was sat chatting with Tony during the last U21s home game.

Not wishing to put too negative a slant on this thread, but what has Henno been up to the past few years ?? Has he been managing anywhere ? I know its great to have an ex-Dart back and Henno was a superb player for the club but it seems to me that we are building an ex-Darts old boys club with Tony, Skip and Robbo and now Henno. Maybe its a positive thing as they all know each other and maybe can work together easier but would it not be an idea to bring in someone who has got a bit of a track record elsewhere and is able to birng some experience and possibly new players/fresh blood to the club ??

It's great that Henno has come back to the Darts and linked up with the management team.

Im sure that Paul can bring a lot of his experiance to the U21's and will hopefully do better than his previous stint with the U21's.

Don, if Tony didn't think that Paul could bring something to the U21's with his experiance with both the club & his playing days at a higher level of football then im certain that he wouldn't have given the job to Paul.

Welcome back Henno & Good Luck.

I don't doubt that there are others out there with longer a longer memory than myself, but didn't Paul Hennessey have a previous spell as Reserve Team manager in 2003? I seem to recall that he replaced one Grant Spelling and had Matt Longhurst was his assistant. Don't think he lasted much beyond a 7-0 stuffing by Ashford though!

Better luck this time Paul.

Yes he did help out with the U21's but it was purely as cover rather than taking on the managers job properly at that time. Thats why he was only doing the job for a short while from what i can recall & partly because at that time he had other commitments work wise.

Paul Hennessy also made the following contribution to the Homecoming match day programme as follows on the Good Luck Messages From The Old Boys:

"I would like to congratulate everyone connected with DFC on this historic day.It is thanks to the undaunted efforts of so many loyal Darts supporters over many years, that your determination to return this great football club to the town has been rewarded with this fantastic stadium. Having had the honour to captain the team at Deal Town all those years ago, i the Darts first game back in the Kent League, when the supporters had resurrected the club, I am proud to have played a part in the history of your fantastic club and I wish Tony, and you all, the successful future you deserve".

Hope that helps.
