We had another entertaining night at the quiz yesterday but the new system for the prize giving caused some discussion on the way home. Our thoughts were that you have less envelopes to pick from and only 2 teams have the chance to pick one ,the winning team and the team that comes last.
The roll over element couldl still be there and the teams that might not have been very successful in the past will still have a chance of winning the money and it will create more excitement and speed things up at the end of the quiz.

Yes an enjoyable evening and yes we came last again , but with only 5 in the team and that includes Mrs B & The Duchess who are missing half of the time as they pop out for fag breaks , The Duke, The 5th and myself soldiered on.

I was content to recognise Diamonds (Jet Harris & Tony Meehan) and Apache (TheShadows) plus Telstar (The Tornado's) three numbers we played when I was in a band in the early 60's.

The good old days, you remember them Pete.

dont really agree with the strange scenario at the end last night. If you wanna do summat like that, why not have the winning team have three attempts (at least get some advantage for winning) 2nd two shots and third one shot. seems more reasonable to me. (But then i was in the winning team - again) :)

I could be wrong but I assume that the original idea used in the pub is to encourage more teams to take part or regular teams to keep on playing, after all with several weeks roll overs and a chance that the wooden spoon team could win some big money then a good attendance is ensured each week.

Or if you adopt the philosophy of most of the teams taking part at P.P. each month delboy, it's not the winning (as you win 9 times out of ten anyway) it's the taking part and as wooden spoon finishers there was added excitement last night when The 5th could have picked out the winning £25 envelope.

However if your team feels that winning is not reward enough  and you are in need off the bottles of wine or £25  then I can understand.

Seriously though I thought it was out of order if the system of winning the prize was changed without members of your team being aware of it, as had we leapfroged over the other teams (some hope) and won we would have been equally pi**ed off.

We shall have to see how it pans out next month.

I like the idea of the prizes, but I agree with delboy in as much as the winners should get some advantage. Saying that, it'd be nice to have a big pot build up and a team pick up a few hundred quid.

Not suprised you didn't notice, to busy dancing to Dave and Ansel Collins.

it's not the winning (as you win 9 times out of ten anyway)

I wished !!! that was actually only our 2nd win !!!

I think the recent upturn in form has been the change of tables. That, and the signing of me since Princes Park, of course (as a specialist Connections round-er)
