LEATHERHEAD - HOME.FA CUP PREM ROUND - THE ROAD TO WEMBLEY
« on: August 30, 2007, 09:54:06 AM »

I thought I would start a thread on what will be our first ever FA Cup match at Princes Park against Leatherhead , who reached the 1st round proper last year finally losing to Torquay 2-1 if my memory serves corrrect having lead 1-0 early on. Tough match for us with our injured players , Ryan , Steve and Tommy all missing and OB suspended and I presume Matt and Alex not being allowed to play by their respective clubs . Hopefully Eddie will be back which will give our midfield that extra cutting edge . Thoughts on team selection ?

Kessell , Avery , Guest , Flanaghan , Green , Coyle , Potter , Mcclemments , Moore , May and Cass

Also hope the crowd breaks 1000 +

See you all there

I guess there aren't that many alternatives to that selection as the starting line-up. I'm just wondering who TB will find to put on the bench.

Just having a look at the Ryman League website, and to date, Leatherhead have been involved in very tight games with an opening 1-0 home win against the Met Police, followed by a 2-1 defeat at Sittingbourne (2nd) and a 0-1 defeat at Table toppers  xdover and finally a 1-1 draw at Walton and Hersham.

Nothing much like our 2-2, 3-0, 0-4, and 4-0 results.

Makes for an interesting match, and with Leatherhead's progress to the first round proper last season, it has the makings of a tough match, especially given the injuries, OB suspension and the unavailabilty of our loanees.

This is one of those matches where fringe players will have their opportunity to get a game under their belts and push their claims. No matter what team we put out, I'm sure all the boys will be putting the effort in. We could do with a good cup run, and are due for one, so hopefully we can win through and get a local derby v Sittingbourne in the next round.

I think your team looks about right Houdini - there really aren't many more options available. Let's hope that Eddie passes his fitness test then eh  :|

Not sure who is playing in our team on Saturday but, according to the DFC official website, we should be OK as we're playing Sittingbourne/Wick/Chertsey on 15 September - the next round of the FA Cup.  :-)

Apart from Bradbrook & Tedder (possible if not out on loan) who else would we have on the bench?

Houdini's starting 11 looks quite good and should I hope be able to give a good account of themselves. But, I hope we don't pick up anymore injuries, as we are looking a bit thin.

If you can keep your head whilst all those around you are losing theirs, then you may have seriously misjudged the situation!

We have an awful record in the FA Cup recently, with the squad situation as it is Saturday will be real tough, but hey whoever puts the shirt on, go fo it! show us what you can do, play so well that TB will have a selection headache once everyone is fully fit!

The crowd can play its part and give the team a boost!

Play with no fear, we can win, 'OVER MY DEAD BODY' attitude please!

It's gotta be 1000+ tomorrow. I know some are still on their hols but the good old FA Cup is always an added attraction and about time we had some sort of run in the competition. Leatherhead are sure to bring a few with em so I'm going for 1109 (and two dogs). COYD

Is the FA Cup (sponsored by Eon) a big attraction tho?  The top clubs don't seem to think so anymore. Will that apathy filter down through the leagues now?
Heres  a thought, Is it this year that the FA Cup (sponsored by Eon) winners, qualify for the Champions League? Now theres an incentive for us !!!!

Just had a text message from Terry at 15:36. Appears to be no score to date, but Leatherhead have just had a player sent off.
