Regarding the Flanagan incident, reading some of these 'surprised about the yellow' coments is making me doubt myself about what i thought i saw. I was behind the goal with the choir but thought i saw clearly that our man reacted with an excellent right to the face, having taken his whack quite well.

As the challenge prior was also very strong, and i think showing a stud or 2 as he was almost horizontal when he connected, i don't think he can argue with a yellow. In fact, he didn't argue too much as i recall. Also, immediately prior to that tackle was an incident where strong shoulders or was it elbows had been used and you could see the tension building, as the ref only seemed to be blowing up weak taps and pushes and letting the strong stuff go.

On a lighter note i agree with many of the earlier comments about the great atmoshere, especially in the second half. I could feel myself smiling as i sang and the old buzz was definitely back. Long live the FA Cup!

I can't obviously comment on the atmosphere during or after the game or the actions of a supposed few Leatherhead fans (a bit worse for wear from drink ?) as I was away and can only observe the posters comments.

Games for us in the northern league at P.P. shouldn't appear to be a problem as few away fans will travel and after the initial culture shock of having to pay £9 admittance and £2 for a programme (The prices at Wivenhoe and Ware £6 not sure about programmes) and no opportunity to buy a burger :-o, most of the dozen or so fans at each game I'm sure would be grateful of a chance to have a drink in the bar before the game and would probably like a drink afterwards provided they can afford it.

If around 40 Leatherhead fans travelled to the game I would have thought that with both bars apparently open and only some of these fans requiring a drink we could have more than accomodated them, but perhaps by design the security deliberately didn't point out the function room bar to eleveate the possibility of trouble.(ref. TLD's comment)

As we progress further in the cup (Sittingbourne for starters) we will definitely get alot more travelling fans to games at P.P. if drawn at home and surely we can be a bit more hospitable towards them until numbers dictate that segregation is required.(i.e. AFC Wimbledon & Dover etc).

The northern teams just like the southern teams welcome the Darts 100-150+ fans to their grounds,  ( xdover maybe the exception ?) primarily for the amount of money we spend in the bars as well as providing a good atmosphere and as far as I know very little trouble if any has been caused. (And we often have a few that have indulged in one too many drinks)

I am not judging the security in any way, only the impression this action creates  to Leatherheads fans and the message it conveys to lots of other travelling fans who logon to this website.

Take their money at the gate, sell them food and programmes, but also welcome them in the bar where their money is as good as anyones and it's no more than their fans deserve, not just before the game but afterwards as well, it's exactly what we would expect at their grounds.(subject of course to the correct standards of behaviour)

The function room had been closed up to only a third of it's normal size before kick-off which obviously reduced the space available, but it is a bit off not to let the away fans in. Mind you they seemed to take some time to re-appear for the 2nd half from where-ever it was they went, so I assumed that they were in the bar at half time.

To my knowledge this is only the second time that away fans have not been allowed in the bar and the first time that a decision has been made close to the final whistle.  The other occassion was in advance of the game.

I loved the little sing off both sets of fans had. At first I would look and listen to see what the Darts fans where chanting then I would look and listen to see what the Leatherhead fans where chanting. I felt like I was at a Tennis game at that point^^

On the sending off incident I reckon Flanagan did very well and not reacted to having punches aimed at him. I tell you I do not know if I would of been able to not react to something like that if it happened to me.

Well we were only a few yards away and not one of us saw any punches thrown by Flanagan. If he had thrown any and the ref had seen it, then surely he would have been sent off too. As for the "almost horizontal" tackle in which he supposedly showed his studs, despite the fact that the referee consulted with both linesmen, it wasn't even given as a free kick! The game was restarted with a throw-in and as far as I am aware, you can't be yellow carded for conceding a throw-in. I would be interested to know what the referee gave as the reason for the yellow card.

Even though we won, I thought the ref was pretty awful and made mistakes all over the pitch. I lost count of the number of times the linesmen were flagging for off-sides etc and he didn't notice them for a minute or so until everyone started screaming at him. I can understand why Leatherhead fans were upset, because incompetent referees are always more annoying when you are on the wrong end of the result, but I think he screwed us as many times as he did them.

According to TB's Manager's Notes today the ref yellowed-carded Flanagan for "aggressive behaviour" (hence no free kick) - presumably for snarling after the No. 9 threw the punch - but I suspect there was a strong element of not wanting to seem too one-sided and avoiding a "diplomatic incident".

As for the stewards, we have done a lot of complaining aout their apparent lack of activity and the fact that, despite being very expensive, they don't acually seem to do any stewarding. However, the actions they took on Saturday seem very reasonable to me and were obviously done with our club's best interests at heart so I think we should support them.

.... oh and my name is Mike, not Dave.

On a separate note, I agree with Ronaldo and Welsh Waffler about the Flanagan incident. I was very surprised to read some other posters comments. We were only a few yards away from the incident and although it was a strong challenge, nobody in our group even even thought it was a foul. The idiot number 9 started throwing punches and was rightly sent off but Flanners didn't react or fight back. The ref gave a throw-in so why was Flanners booked?

Agreed about the stewards, at least they seem to earn their money on saturday

.....sorry dave :-D

You can just about see Flanagan sliding in on the match highlights if you look closely, but still not clear. Didn't see it myself

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

I wouldn't get to excited we only reallly dominated once they were down to 10 men. But an encouraging performance.

COMMMEEEEEEEEEEEE ONNNNNNNNNNNNN UUUUUUUUUUUU DDDDDDDDDAAAAAAARRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSS

also to mention was impressed with the noise behind the goal even managed to get a few chants going myself, thanks to those who joined in keep it up, and to the ones who didnt, sing up please, it can only help our players, and put off there's
(I think it helped that Leatherhead fans made some noise, not wanting to be put to shame by 40 away fans)

My view of the Flanagan incident. I was standing about 8 feet away. I thought he slide in with intent and aggression. The other guy reacted attempting to elbow Flanagan in the face but missed. Flanagan then counter-reacted with his elbow but again missed. My reaction to my friend was they will both recieve the yellow. Iam only telling it as i saw it.

Banksy - Airhorns

I do not work for the Darts, just a supporter who helps out a bit.

Airhorns are banned at most clubs as part of the ground regs.  There are several reasons for this.

Many contain pressurised containers, could explode - never know where they where purchased
They can be as loud as 105 decibels, many local authorities used to limit rock concerts to 96 decibels in the 1970's - Noise pollution
Most supporters do not like them, any doubts 'google' 'air horns at football' and see the comments about them, most supporters have strong opinions and do not particularly want them in their ears.

Here is one link  from Sunderland I thought you may appreciate:

http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?p=3792922

Could go on about the planning regs and consideration for the neighbours when Princes Park was built but I'm bored with all that.

Our noise maker of choice is the wooden rattle, beats almost any other suggestions for the Club shop in my opinion.

RE : The big incident

Really surprised by the amount of people who thought Flanagan tackle was fine.  At the very best it was a badly timed tackle.  Let me ask those who thought it was a fair tackel, if that was an opposition player would you have accepted that tackle and not called for a red card?

He wasn't booked for the tackle as the linesman and referee were both blindsided and didn't see it.

With regards to the away supporters, I was down the away end during the second half
behind the goal. They went mad when the Ref didn't give a pentaly, and were kicking hell out of the   advertising boards, Our head steward, [who by the way is a girl] went down to speak to them a got quite some abuse, this inturn got the security lads involved.I expect that they had been in the bar at half time because they were well oiled.  It was the security that re-fused them entry not the stewards.

A point of interest regarding the stewards pay  £6.50 per hour I was informed buy a colleague of mine who is a steward at dfc some weeks. I leave you to work out the cost per match.
