Having not made the trip over to Northwood, and reading some of the comments made here, I still can't make a comment of my own. All this doom and gloom( sorry to have to bring that saying up again) and mostly from people who weren't there. Is our side arrogant,If so someone needs to knock it out of them. Are we lumping the ball out of defence, if so someone needs to knock it out of them.
Or in one comment here questioning the management again, surely it is management that need to do the knocking. OR.... maybe we just haven't  got the team. From what I've seen, we're pretty average. Because other teams do not have to play well to beat us. God forbid,we have AFC Sudbury in a fortnight, at home, so I think this match is going to be more of a marker than any other this season.
Commenting on Dukes remarks. "Why bother?" Because I have bothered for the last 40 years, and I've seen a lot worse teams than this. Don't worry you'll bother. " If it's crap, people will stay away, fact." I seem to remember a Leeds Utd team that played crap for 42 games one season and kept winning 1-0. I'd like to see the Darts keep winning and play crap, I can guarantee we'll have a 3,000+ gate by the end of the season. It's no good being an entertaining side if you're losing.
And finally (thank God for that I hear you say) lets get things in perspective, all this doom and gloom (oops there it is again) from many of you. This is our 5th game of the season, and I don't want to go political here, we have 37 games left.
Yesterday we lost two more of our soldiers in Afganistan

Interesting E-Mail Ozymandias

I would disagree with you about all of us spouting "Doom and Gloom".  We are just trying to be realistic.  If we don't ask questions now, before we know it the season will be half gone.

(1) Why are we looking like an average side? Is it the players not performing or the management not taking the players in the right direction/tactics?

(2) There has been many comments about the squad, many saying we are short of quality players.  I still struggle to understand this, we probably have by far the biggest budget in the league and we are seemingly unable to attract players of a higher standard.  Is this because we are unwilling to pay the going the rate? The manager just doesn't have the connections?

(3) Perhaps there is an arrogance amongst some of our supporters about beating everybody.  But I go back to the point of us probably having the highest budget in the league and then should subsequentely have the best players? I actually think we should be beating most teams in this league.

I'll agree with you Ozymandias that things are better then they were, some of the seasons with Gary Julians as manager were horrendous and things are better.

To move this club on further I believe we need to achieve this season

Why be destructive? What's done is done - if others want to do that, then that's their prerogative.

Duke, I hope you don't think I was having a poke at you. I think that there are a lot of Darts supporters who were probably down about yesterdays result. Perhaps it is us the supporters who are arrogant and not the team for expecting better things. I was just commenting on your 'why bother' remark as we probably all feel like that, especially after my 40 years. Once or twice in my case.
The only thing I'm surprised about is that you couldn't be 'f***king bothered' to come up with something more constructive, as you always seem to have plenty to say. I don't even know you, feel free to take a pop, my backs strong. This is what this is for.
Why is everybody getting the arse, are us supporters so arrogant as to believe we should have won yesterday. As I said we are a pretty ordinary side at the moment, i know I wasn't expecting a win. As you say Duke UP THE DARTS!!

I'll try again

Ozymandias

I think you seem to be missing the point.  We should have the best team as we have the biggest budget (best players??) , we should be beating teams like Noirthwood.

It's ambition not arrogance in my opinion

OZY - i have never minded anyone having a pop at me as i am well over 21 and i accept that everyone has an opinion

i am 100% certain that I and most of the loyal dart fans are NOT arrogant , just the opposite as we are non league football nuts who enjoy the banter with other clubs fans and we are very conscous that for 13 years we have had a rough time and would have [ almost] cut our right arm off for one of their grounds !!!!!

with the opening of PP a very small number of rival clubs [ led by one in particular] deemed us big time charlies [ which we aint] and it seems to have stuck and with results being what they currently are , we are getting stick but thats life

the truth is that like any fan i want our club to do well and i honestly thought that with the resources we are lucky to have eg personal , stadium , extra cash + increased support that we would have got off to a better start than we have and like lots of other dart fans i am disappointed that we havent

i am NOT a doom and gloom merchants [ christ being a [ successful  ] salesman for 35 years]  i have had more kick backs than joan collins draws and still live to tell the tales

however at present it aint as we exected and most fans are saying so , either on the message board or on the terraces [ i was there yesterday ] one or two are still loath to comment for fear of possibly upsetting the establishment but thats there perogative !!!!!!!!

i am NOT anti the club, manager or the team but i just cannot believe that they are happy , if they are then we have a problem !!!!!!!!!

once again   UP THE DARTS

Talking of tactics, another of TB's frequent habits that I can't understand (in addition to falling back when their midfield is in possession) is taking Jay or Cassie (or both!) off in the last 10 minutes - especially as they are the most likely source of goals. All right, so they might be "tired", but if they've lasted 80 minutes, surely they can manage another 10. It may be an old cliché that bringing on subs disrupts the rhythm of the team, but there is more than an element of truth in it.

I don't feel that any of the Darts fans posting their comments (or those too up tight or dignified to bother) can be accused of being arrogant, they don't expect us to turn up and win every game, especially those against opposition down near the bottom of the table, they just expect the best from the team, that the players give their all and have the will to and want to win.

No criticism of the manager for picking a winning team, although I felt that he should have made changes at half time and my comments earlier with reference to The Dukes selection against Tony's is just a personal preference as he's the man at the sharp end.

Tony's in charge and I think that he knows what tactics he expects to be played by the team from game to game, however I do question the teams abilities to carry out their duties and follow instructions for 90 minutes.(I also question Tony's tactics at times, however the team mustn't and can't go off and do their own thing)

Too often we have seen heads drop after playing good on the deck creative football  for about 20 minutes then perhaps from frustration, it's ball in the air time, a goal at the opposite end and standards lowered letting the opposition take over.

Consistency over 90 minutes is Utopia but for the majority of the game the team is expected to perform as a team should do ,creating chances and making few errors, giving of their best and if not achieving the result that is desired then the better team won, but fall below these standards then it is fair to expect some critisism from the fans.

Doom and gloom, no, just a variety of fans expressing their own personal opinions, some that were unlucky enough to have travelled on the day, others who are frustrated having not been able to watch the match and who feel that they either agree or disagree with the comments made.

Roll on Saturday and at least team selection shouldn't be likely to raise an arguement as it's cup day and the loan players will not be available.
