Just got back from the game and have to say that it was not a lot different from Saturday except this time we took our chances early on. We could well have had double by the final whistle and this time round not even Steve Lovell could argue with the result although being a Welshman he probably felt his team deserved a draw. It never ceases to amaze me how certain managers perceive the game.

All this on a night when dfc-75 started to talk a bit of sense, perhaps now he will come out of the cyberspace closet and introduce himself to the rest of the posters here.

For the record it looked like we had 2 thirds of the crowd tonight who really got behind the team. Not quite sure where the Brickie singers were tonight though. Still another £2,500 in the bank and a home draw in the next round…now that can’t be bad.

Roll on Saturday.

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

Good all round team performance tonight. All of the team played well but I would single out Mark Green for his non-stop running. Let's hope they can do the same on Saturday.

Now thats much better Darts.

Tonight everyone constantly battled away and completely out played Sittingbourne who didn't look in the game what so ever. Eddie McClements was superb playing wide right midfield as was both Jay & Cassy who fully deserved his hatrick (well done Brendan). Even Greenie playing left midfield was non stop running and battling away for the whole 90 minutes and although some of his crosses weren't great he did make up for it in his work rate and constant chasing.

Im sorry to say that Brad Potter looked completely lost to me tonight and as much as i think he's a good lad & i like Brad he's just not up to this standard, certainly not on these last 2 performances. From what i recall i only see him make 1 good pass to a yellow shirt and that was more luck than anything else the rest of the time he struggled to control the ball, he lost it to the opposition or he past it to them. We really do need to get another good midfielder into the team and if the rumours are true that are currently going round then Thursdays announcement is just what we are after.

The defence held out great again tonight until a silly penalty was given away with about 10 minutes to go, but as for our goals Flanners scored the first for us after we had 2 attempts and the keeper saved well before it fell to Flanners to knock into an empty net.

Our 2nd goal was well taken by Brendan for the start of his run, the ball was played through and both Cassy & the Brickies keeper ran for a 50/50 ball which Cassy just managed to get his boot to & flick it past the keeper and into a completely open goal.

Then came goal No 3 from Eddie McClements after an excellant through ball was played by Jay May for Eddie to run onto he drew the keeper and cooly slotted it past him and into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Goal No 4 came about after a good pass was made to Brendan who ran through on goal with the Brickies keeper coming out to close him down, as the keeper went to make a the save his studs seemed to stay in the ground as he twisted to turn and he just hit the ground like a sack of s**t and didn't move, Brendan obviously slotted the ball into the net but then went straight over to check on the keeper who you could hear was in absolute agony. Unfortunately the keeper he to be stretchard off with possible ligament or cartlidge damage and the Brickies brought on their young back up keeper with about 3 minutes to go until halftime.

The 2nd half kicked off and we started where the first half had ended with non stop attacking and it wasn't to long before the Brickies goal was under attack again but to give him some credit the young sub keeper did actually make a couple of good saves with 1 being a finger tip save to push the ball out for a corner from what looked to be a cert goal for Jay May.

In the end it had to happen and goal No 5 and Cassies hatrick came along when he hammerd his shot into the far corner of the net for 5-0. The scoreline could well have been a lot higher had the keeper not made some saves or a couple of other shots been on target.

We then decided to make our first sub with Tom Bradbrook coming on for Brendan Cass, Tommy had 2 or 3 chances where he could well have scored with a couple of them being very good chances but unfortunately he put them wide of the post.

Tony then decided to bring on our last 2 subs with Richard Avery & Dave Moore coming on for Eddie McClements & Brad Pottor.

With about 10 minutes to go we gave away a silly penalty after either Flanners or Guest seemed to push a player, the strange thing was seconds before the Brickies player had actually fooled our defender and the ref shouted play on but as soon as they lost the ball he awarded the penalty which Bradley Spice slotted away for 5-1.

A great result by the lads on a very poor pitch that on the eye looked nice with plenty of grass but as soon as the ball rolled over it you could clearly see just how lumpy & bumpy it really was.

Great support tonight from the choir with non stop singing to raise the players spirits & keep them lifted, we must have had at least 100+ supporters with us tonight. Not to sure what happend to the Sittingbourne singers from Saturday as they didn't seem to make any noise at all tonight and didn't really seem to have any support at all.

My MOTM vote tonight has to go to our hatrick hero Brendan Cass.

My final note is that i hope the injury to the Brickies keeper isn't to serious & he's back playing again ASAP as it certainly looked nasty when he was carried off. I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

Well as I sit here this morning, I'm a bit disappointed. Only 1 goal in the second half. I went to bed at nine last night, couldn't hack any more of Porto/Liverpool. That and a 4.00am start. But only one goal in the second half and we conceded one to.
I am only joking lads, it is 4.00am.
Come on you Darts, should have finished like this in the first half Saturday. Still, a bit more dosh I suppose.
Will talk later when I brush last nights crud from my eyes.

Fantastic performance all round last night!
Hats off to TB he brought back OB into the middle and pushed Eddic Mac onto the right hand side and it worked a treat!

Perhaps Sittingbournes equaliser on Saturday could be the catalyst for the rest of our season and lets not forget that they have only lost once this season and only conceded 6 goals in 5 games! To go down there on a crap pitch and completely dominate was a joy to watch.

Perhaps the Dartford Times will give us 3 lines rather 2 this week??

Great game last night very enjoyable with the Darts setting up stall early.

Spoke to Steve Hafner last night who said he was only 80% fit due to needing an operation on his leg. But said he would love to come back to Dartford some time in the futute (Post Op). he said Tony let him go due to the fact he broke his wrist last year (Thats harsh if that is true)

When Tony phoned him and asked him to come back he said the day before he had given his commitment to Sittingbourne.

i was not at the game on Saturday but i hope we play like this the rest of the reason. Ball on the ground no long high balls.

There keeper will be out for the rest of the season as he has done some real injury to his knee.

Roll on Saturday up the DARTS

Next round is 29 September at home to Camberley Town. This means the game against Witham Town will need to be rearranged.

I can't comment on the comparisons with Sat's game as i missed it. Great performance last night though and i have to echo many of the comments already made about the all round team performance. None moreso than Greeny, i haven't been so impressed with him since last season's Dover awayday. Sittingbourne's Lovell has commented about our boys work-rate and how impressed he was by it. He's dead right and the will to push on in this competition is really showing. Perhaps TB or the lads have taken on some of the comments posted recently by fans seemingly desperate to win something/ anything.

Although this is a competition we won't win it would be great to be flying the non league flag and be one of it's last remaining teams left in. Seems years since that Bournemouth jolly and i am now almost carried away with the F.A. Cup fever, as 1st Leatherhead and then last night have warmed me right up.

Annoyingly the next round is same day as West Ham v Arsenal, which will mean i can't make it... probably.

Sometimes I wish this web-site didn't exist because when you get home after a bad game you can come on here and have a rant and a few days later you regret what you have said. Usually I try and wait a couple of days until I have got over the disappointment .... no such worries about last night.

Excellent result last night. Several very good individual performances forming part of what was a great overall team performance. Mark Green was absolutely outstanding, his work rate was almost superhuman. Eddie McLements was also superb but I had to give my MOTM vote to Cassie who, apart from his 3 goals, also worked his socks off up front alongside Jay (who also had a very good game). I wish I had two votes because Greeny's effort was so vast I feel almost disloyal for not giving him a vote too.

I really like our back four now and hope it remains constant for the rest of the season.

As for the midfield, no doubt that Alex O'Brien has great leadership qualities and his booming voice clearly terrifies encourages his team-mates. I still think we are 2 midfield players away from having a title challenging squad, but that could be rectified by the end of the week.
