I don't think we'll get easier opponents at PP this year.

Havent you seen Wivenhoe or Northwood ?

Yes, I was there and saw how bad they were. They were one of the worst teams I've seen at this level. Three players going down with cramp says all you need to know about them.

Hmm.  I was there too - and they scored two of the best goals I will probably see this season.  So a little bit of credit where it's due.

I thought both were better than GWR. I actually thought Northwood were quite useful. It's strange how different people get different ideas from the same game - it would be boring if we all thought the same.

I'm sorry, but even if our players hadn't turned up for the game, Wivenhoe would have got a couple of yellow cards and lost 1-0. They were easily the worst team we have played and I would be astonished if we met a weaker team his season.

As for Northwood, I agree with Ronaldo ... they were very poor which is why I was so gutted that we didn't beat them. I still think that was our worst performance of the season because they were such mediocre opponents.

As for GWR, I think Tuesday's game was more about how well the Darts can play now that we are able to put eleven players on the pitch all of whom can play football, without any obvious weak links constantly giving the ball away. There were times in the first half where we passed the ball around and played some of the best football I've seen from a Darts side since the days of Peter Taylor. Also, we now have an excellent back four that I hope remains constant for the rest of the season.

By my reckoning though, we have a squad of about 13 players who are good enough after which we start to get a bit flaky. I think my initial thoughts about O'Brien were wrong, he's a big influence and I think I understand why he's there now. That, plus the early return of Ryno and the signing of Kadi has made a huge difference to our midfield and if we are lucky with injuries, we do stand a chance of success this year.

I'd say we have more than 13 players now.
outside of an obvious best first 11, we would have Green, (probably just loses out to Kadi, but doing great IMHO) Tom Bradbrook, Lewis , Avery for cover at the back/ Potter, Tedder for Kess and Moore (not 100% but has some good touchs).
would like to see maybe another good strong defensive midfielder. O' Brien is starting to show that really is what we lacked.
We also have Tommy in the cover position at the back. which gives us a reasonably strong squad IMHO.

GWR I don't think were that bad, just seemed to me we had the pinpoint pass into the box when required against two centre backs who couldn't mark our forwards. All our goals seemed to come from attackers standing still and receiving the ball whilst in between 2 defenders.

They reminded me of us earlier in the season.

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

I have just had a chance to  look at the photos taken the other night , brilliant.
I think they show just how hard Eddie worked the other night back to his old self after a rather poor month by Eddie,s standards.

at times eddie mac thinks to quickly for some of our guys but with ryno back and kadi [ especially when he gets a few more games in ] we can expect to see some real good interplay between them and the others guys will get a lift from this and i can see the long ball game disappearing

I must admit it was nice to see so much football played on the deck, and the interplay between Eddie, Junior and Ryno can only get better xbow Whilst I didn't think that GWR were the best team we have played against, they were by no means the worst. After the 3 goals in the first half, I expected them to 'roll over' in the 2nd, but whilst we certainly changed down a few :? gears in the 2nd half they still tried to play football, unlike some teams we have seen.  A quick word about the ref - was there one?  :-D He certainly let the game flow and apart from 2? yellow cards he hardly was conspicous. As Jeremy pointed out in his post about the Clarkson column, the ref should be 'heard' and not seen, and I thought the Man in Black on tuesday managed that.
