I have no intention oif getting drawn into a debate with 2 or 3 nicotine obsessed half-wits who probably couldn't see what was going on anyway, what with all that smoke in their eyes. On the Hornchurch site perhaps, but on here their views are not important.
I think its fair to say that any sensible observer would admit that the scoreline flattered our opponents. For the most part, we played quite well last night and but for the width of the post and crossbar we could have got something from the game. I do feel sorry for Eddie McLements who seems to be moved about all over the place (3 positions last night) to accomodate lesser mortals. For my money he is easily our best central midfield player and I wish we could see him there more often. I must admit I'm still waiting for Kadi to live up to expectations at the moment. He was excellent against Lewes in the pre-season friendly, but I thought he played most of that game out wide so I have been surprised to see him in the central role instead of Eddie. On current form, if I were picking the team for Saturday I would be tempted to leave Kadi on the bench and play ...
Kessell
Coyle, Guest, Flanagan, Norman
Hayes, McLements, O'Brien, Green
Cass, May
Having said that, I can see that Kadi has class and I suppose there's a case for "playing him in" until he finds his feet and starts to gel a bit more with his team-mates. Assuming Jay plays, deciding which of the 5 midfielders to leave out is going to be a tough decision. I suspect though that when TB picks from a full squad, the team would be as above but with Kadi inside, Eddie out wide and Greeny on the bench. Strange how a couple of weeks ago we were so short in midfield.
In any case, to get back to last night's game we have to accept that they took their chances and we didn't so good luck to them in the next round and lets all move on. From our point of view, we were never going to win the FA Trophy anyway so lets now concentrate on what's important ... winning promotion.
