Tilbury Away 30/10
« on: October 28, 2007, 10:46:59 AM »

I would like to see Tommy B start on Tuesday in place of Cass, not that he has done anything wrong but just to give him a bit of a rest. He has played a lot of games lately and we don't want him to burn out. We can always bring him on if needed.
This will be one of our games in hand as the top two are not playing and a win here we really start to put the pressure on.

We need to play our strongest side in every league match. Brendon Cass would be in my strongest side every week. There's the opportunity to give the squad players a game in the Aveley cup match, and in the Kent Senior Cup.

Whilst I agree with your Sentiments KST, I do believe that we must play our strongest sides in the league games, and as Gary pointed out there are 2 'lesser' cup games due to be played when the guys can have a rest.

KST, we should always start with our best team and Cassie is a must, we should not under estimate Tilbury or their league position, however I anticipate that this will be a hard physical game and if this proves to be the case then the introduction of Tommy for Cassie earlier might be on the cards in the second half, as Tommy for his age looks street wise and can put it about when required, plus his pace and non stop running will create problems for a tiring Tilbury defence.

I have to agree that Cass must start every league match if he is fit. Even when he seems to be out of the match he is always likely to get into the right place to score a goal. He also contributes a lot to the team by his tireless running.

I would love to see Tom start a game and get 90 minutes to see what he can do.
The problem is you simply cannot leave Cass out of the first 11, and jay is also too vital to leave on the bench
His best chance to oust them coincided with him being away.
Just a victim of circumstances unfortunately

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

i agree we need to start with our best XI for this game. Before yesterdays fiasco Tilbury had only lost one game so not an easy team to beat (on and off the pitch). The Cass & May partnership is still producing the goals, without playing as well s last season. Now we have an option with Tom to come on for the 20 mins or so. Also don't forget we still have Andrew Sam as an option.

Tuesdays game will be tough but if we stay focused and play to our bet ability, 3 points should come back south of the river.

But isn't it good that we are able to even be talking of playing Tommy in the starting line up. It means competition for places is hotting up, and putting pressure on Cassie and Jay.

I hadn't realised, until reading through the Potters Bar program, just how often Tommy has featured in the squad this season, even if getting on to the pitch towards the end of the game.

I have to say though, that I thought he Tommy did very well indeed when he came on, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing him totally skin the PBT defence on several occasions, together with his intelligent diagonal runs in which he created so much space to run onto balls.

Probably a touch too early to be thinking of bringing him on and expecting 90+ out of him at that pace, but he is certainly looking as though he can put pressure on Jay and Cassie if they have a dip in form or injury and certainly looking like one for the future to me. Tommy possibly missed a golden opportunity to stake a claim and play himself in when he was on his holiday to USA when Jay was suspended.

But well played young Tommy. Your goal was thoroughly deserved.

The other thing to look at as well, is that Tilbury have not been beaten at home this season. P5 W3 D2 L0 F9 A4 so they are no pushovers. Our away stats are P4 W2 D0 L2 F6 A7 . Will be interesting what effect saturdays 'punch-up' with Waltham Abbey has on the game (if any). According to the Met office(not that they get it right  :-D) it should be a cold dry night so wrap up warm chaps.

Tough tough tough, that's how to sum this game up, its away and that in itself makes it harder. They will all be up for this game after the debacle Saturday. No Eddie, that makes it difficult as well, expect an Ilford type match.

On the other hand it could all go our way, we win comfortably! That's why football is a 'funny old game'!

Will be a tricky game no doubt about it!
We have been playing twice a week for a few weeks now so am worried about fatigue...But not sure we can change the starling X1 at the moment!

Tommy B's time will come just a shame he didnt get longer at Sittingbourne when we were 4 up at half time and was absent when Jay was banned. However he will be more than useful coming off the bench with 20mins or so to go and he's still learning to play at this level and in Cass & May he has 2 very good 'teachers'.

Tomorrow there's no reason why we cant keep another clean sheet and I think we are good enough to nick at least 1 if not more goals!

See you over there! Up the Darts!
