« on: November 12, 2007, 07:26:04 PM »

Tuesday? About 400 tops!

TB has more or less stated it will be a mixture of a team vs Aveley, expect Potter, Avery, Osbourne, Bradbrook, Williams, Moore, U21's etc etc.

See you all there.

IMPORTANT   tick tock !!!!!!

the only thing worthwile is to give the regulars a rest and the squad/u21s players a chance to play against a RLN1 team to see if they can hack it ?????????????

its a mickey mouse cup and chances are we wouldnt  win it even if we put out our first 11 out so i believe tony will use it to benefit our league aspirations

It will be a nice game for Phil to settle in. I must admit, he looks as though he's got some speed.

It's not possible - Aveley would have to agree to it due to the gate being shared. 400 @ £9 = 2700, 500 @ £5 = 2500. Smaller cut for them.

Just seen this posting on the official website:-

Please note, that due to the expected low attendance, (as is normal for a league cup tie), the Princes Road terrrace will not be used for the Tuesday game against Aveley. This will enable us to reduce the number of Stewards, and therefore costs, for this game.
Areas in use will be the seats and behind each goal.
Also only 1 refreshment pod will be open, but this situation will be monitored for crowd numbers

Very interesting and understand the reasons for wanting to save money. However after three attempts this season to find out costs to sponsor a squad member and/or match if i had had a response there may be enough money in the kitty to keep this part of the ground open. Won't bother to offer again this season...........

WW, I'll find you tomorrow - might be able to help with the Squad Member as I'm helping John Stewart with it.

So as a season ticket holder I need to rush home from London to pay £9 to get  to watch  more than likely a mixture of  U21 and squad players, and can't even stand in my normal spot on the Princes Road Terrace   !!!--I don't like sitting down and like to stand near the 1/2 way line  -are funds that tight that we have to cut back to this extent ?  Most teams in our league would love to get the kind of crowd we're going to get for this game.

Never really understood why we have so many Stewards anyway--all I see them do each game is pounce on people who dare to  stand in the walkway even if it's only for a minute--just reduce number of Stewards (or is there some legislation that we have to have a certain number per terrace or something equally stupid)

Yes, it would.

The positive here is that some of us who prefer to stand on the Princes Road terrace will have to stand behind the goals tonight instead. Who knows, we might end up enjoying this, and join the chior for future matches!  'm happy to go along with this as I can understand the reasons behind it, but as we increase our steward numbers for anticipated bigger gates, then why can't we just reduce them for the anticipated lower gates?!!

However, I'm a bit disappointed that the match doesn't appear to be taken very seriously all round tonight. After Saturday, a good performance and a good result would do wonders, and be much more popular that a training session for the players I would have thought. I disagree that "this is a cup that we cannot win". Dover reached the final last year, and the winners were Ashford Town (Middx). The winning habit is a good one to get, and whilst of course anyone with a slight injury should be rested, I would still have liked us to field as strong a side as possible.... not least to get Saturday's performance out of our system!

Possible line-up...

                          Tedder

         Osbourne  Avery  Guest  Norman

          Hayes  Potter  Moore  Lewis

                     May  Bradbrook

Paying £9 to stand in an area where I don't want to stand, in order to watch our "reserves" play against moderate opposition in a cup we clearly have no intention of trying to win is asking a bit much.

I can empathise with Tony Burman's view of things but speaking as someone who (unless I'm out of the country or going to my son's wedding) goes to every single game, home and away, I can't actually remember the last time I CHOSE not to go to a supposed "first team" match, yet I find myself seriously wondering whether it will be worth bothering tonight.

Dont know how they have got the AUDACITY to charge anything !! Let alone £5/9 if Saturdays performance is anything to go by.!!

I think that the players/ TB should make a contribution to make up for the lack of gate fees received tonight!Dont expect a big crowd  :-(

As for making half the ground out of bounds, well that is just a joke !

In saying all this I will be making the effort to see the boys tonight , and hopefully come away a bit happier , even if it is a MM cup.
See ya behind the goal I suppose.
