Thought a point was a good result.
It's unfair to say that we didn't play well, as I thought it was more of a case of not being allowed to play by a very tough battling team. All credit to Maldon as they showed they are a team that should not be underestimated and I hope they play the same against some of our rivals. Few teams will take points away to Maldon.

referee is just trying to do his job and I won't comment  xwhis but he spotted things no one else saw and then missed a blatant elbow in the face.

Maldon Keeper was a big boy but he made a great save from Eddie, with Ryno being the only one all game taking the chance to follow in and seeming to read the game and risk the forward run before the ball was released. Thought their Keeper was a decent enough player and a great sport to boot, and only really made 1 mistake which lead to our second. Did Jay really get his head to it? as where I was directly behind it looked like he directed it into his own net.

We maybe could have nicked a win but so could have Maldon as like other teams seem to catch us on the counter far too easy.
Cassie never got into the game today, no fault of his own, but it seems to me when he gets into games like this it is the difference between the win and a draw.

Enjoyed the trip today , not a bad pitch at all, and a nice ground all in.

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

Draw a fair result!

Referee didnt like any contact whatsoever so I'd imagine he will end up in the champions league where that kind of refereeing is saulted

May & Cass feeding on scraps as our midfield were as a unit outplayed and the again we lost the middle of the park...although Eddie played well in my opinion so I will leave it up to you to decide which midfielder I think really and truly isnt worth his place in the team!

Phil Williams the enigma! Should have started the game simple as that...Are we really going to teams like Maldon and setting our team up to contain their team...shouldnt we be playing our best team and saying to any opposition 'see if you can beat us and if you do fair play!'...If Phil was dropped due to Darts trying to look more solid defensively it didnt work at all!

Getting very tight at the top now...Ware look dangerous as do Edgeware who just dont seem to concede many goals!...And Brentwood are still up there...although not sure how from what I saw of them!

Looking forward to Wednesday Up the Darts!

It is very, very rare that I have a go at referees, but in my opinion, the guy absolutely ruined any chance of a decent game of football. He refereed the game as if it was a total non-contact sport and seemed to think the players and supporters were all there solely for HIS benefit. I understand he was being assessed on Saturday and is being "fast-tracked" to the top ... well the sooner they promote the pompous, traffic-wardenesque buffoon out of our way the better. Saturday was the first time I can remember actually having a go (twice) at the ref for awarding US a free kick!!! The worst example of intentionally bad refereeing I have seen for many a season.

As for the match, I thought a 2-2 draw was about fair.

the most worrying thing to me about this type of referee is that he spotlight is one him[ being fast tracked !!] and that the assessor will follow the establishment and the clown will believe that he is a brilliant referee  ??????????

the assessors shoukld be  " old school , real world " and tells the younger refs[ for their own good ] a few home truths which will definately help them in the long term ,however fat chance of that and the pratt who refed us will probably make a career out of being a [ selfish] poor referee  !!

the best ref i have seen was the " indian guy [no offence meant ] who refereed us at home vs dulwich hamlet last season , hardly noticed him all game which was  a great game to watch with both teams showing him great respect and everyone enjoyes the game

i bet his no nonsence , common sense approach still has him refereeing RL1 and kent league games , i hope NOT and he is doing conference south at least

i like strong no nonsence, real world referees but dont see too many of them nowadays

I agree with you Duke. That was by far and away the best ref we have had for the past 2 seasons. I wasn't there on saturday but I can imagine what the standard was like.

Cannot believe that the negative team selection hasn't been mentioned.

Phil WIlliams SHOULD have started. It is as simple as that. Maldon were there for the taking and we gifted them a point through sheer timidity on the flank.

If we are to go up we need to have confidence in or own abilities and take sides like Maldon on. It's the only way we'll string the 6 or 7 game winning streak together which will finally break the back of this division.

I think Mark Green is one of our most under rated players and far from negative.  His work rate is fantastic and allows our creative players more freedom and against a hard working team like Maldon was an obvious starter. That we could change it around with Phil coming on gave them  different problems, I thought as they tired they were more likely to foul a fresh Phil on one of his runs.

For me though its players like Mark Green who get us the points away from home against difficult opposition, for every Ryno or Phil we need someone covering.  I thought our form dipped a little when he got injured.

Iif we are going to get promotion its games like Maldon where we have to get a least a point.

Agree about the ref.  There was an excellent headed clearance from Adam in the first half which was blown up for - that summed the ref up for me.  Probably just as well Guesty did not play.

Its all about opinions though

i dont think that tonys team was negative but a positive approach to an away game especially against a top 5 team who have an excellent [ unbeaten] home record and then changed it when he felt the timewas right and in fact phil williams had 3 chances to win it for us

I agree with the comments about greenie and believe on current form should be in the team but NOT at wide left midfield !!!!!

if this had been at home then i would have agreed with benmurphy
