Aveley away Saturday 29th Dec 07 match thread
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:50:39 PM »

Well its the big one! Our closest rival this season! Expect a large away following for this one, surely with our league position many of the 'homers' will make the extra effort?

Aveley are doing very well at the moment and this one will be tough but with great vocal support and heaps of confidence, everyone can play their part and end up victorious. Every game is a big one now, one of the teams needs to 'break away' from the rest, why not us?

Well done to the players so far, keep the feet hard on the gas, all hands to the pump etc.

Keep it going TB and co, the hardcore are firmly behind you.

It appears that there is no cover whatsoever except for the seated area. Aparantly the cover they had was destroyed by a storm in jan 2007. Maybe they have rebuilt it since they updated the website???

And if I remember aright, the pitch is not easy to play on either - bumpy (at least it was the last time I was there) and with quite a marked slope.

As i remember there is no cover and supporters are a fair distance from pitchside in an oval type shape around the pitch - almost as if there is was an athletics track at one stage - or is my memory playing tricks ?

After Boxing day we could generate around the 250-280 mark. Will be interested in the numbers as i get the same feel as before the Bromley FA cup game where we took 350 ish - whatever the numbers, lets be behind the boys from the off - loud - Get the "conductor" in action ready - as he did at Bromley.

Aveley are a better side than when we played them earlier this season - but then so are we !

Harry.

Im sure there is covered standing opposite the stand but it is quite far back from the pitch. Dont recall any problems making noise  xfinger. Cant remember his name but they had a small black bloke on the right wing who was very fast, caused us some problems. The goalkeeper was quite "athletic" jumping all over the place, and got a cheer from us at the end of the game.

The pitch looks ok, http://www.aveleyfc.net/page8.html

Also their entire team is made up of Dagenham & Redbridge rejects & their academy, http://www.aveleyfc.net/page22.html

Hope to see our biggest away support this season.  xnod xnod

From the photo on their site it looks a wild and desolate place.

A bit like my soul!

Hope to see you all there tomorrow.
