heybridge deserved to win and looked a decent side , scored in 7 seconds [ gary clark time !!] we were not really at the races and gulf in class was obvious but its a big step from mainly u21s to RLP but none of the squad players dint themselves any ral good although yo yo did quite well

not having a pop but the 2 realtively easy chances that tommy b and luke may had could have changed the game but heybridge were really always in command

our lads tried hard but the right team won

Duke, I think it was Digger Lawrence who missed the other sitter not Luke May. xtip

I personally didn't think there was a gulf in class although Heybridge deserved the win.  I didn't see the first goal as I was walking toward the other end but someone said it was an error by Greenie and Kessie didn't hold the ball to allow Heybridge its second. It would have been nice to have stayed in the cup to allow the squad and under 21s another match but we'll just have to pin all our cup hopes on the KSC now

I would agree with Dukes comments. They were more organised, stronger in the tackle and moved the ball quicker than us and fully deserved the result. The first goal was an error by the centre back (I thought it was Cunningham others said Avery) the ball flicked off Greens head and the CB should have come across and put the ball into row Z but was asleep and got there 2 yards behind their man.

What was painfully clear was the lack of players ready to step up to first team duty if we get injuries. Yoyo made the strongest claims with Green and Osbourne looking ok. Tom Bradbrook seems to get lost in full games at 1st team level and needs a run in the reserves to stake a claim. The two biggest disappointments were Moore & Avery. Moore looks a genuine bloke who will work hard but he lacked ideas and was the original headless chicken last night. Avery has seen first team action this season but you wouldn't have known that on last nights performance. He lost out on too many 50/50's and headers against the centre forward and didn't seem to want the physical battle. As for the kids - they needed the run and we have some good players in the making, we need to keep their heads up and support them whenever they play.

Nice to see the darts support out again and we went home feeling that we were in no way disgraced against premier league opposition. I would have to give Yo my man of the match vote, just shading Kess who made a couple of good saves. The most important thing is to roll on to saturday and get the three league points especially with last nights ware result going for us.

Final word - Well done Tony Burman - Sign of class last night in thanking the fans for making the journey and supporting the fringe players. Keep up the good work TB xtip

Well considering they are a division above us and that (I am told) they fielded 8 players who started in their last league game, I think our team of U21s and fringe players did pretty well. Kess was the only Dart who started on Satrurday, there being 10 changes to the team. The scoreline flattered our opponents and but for a couple of glaring misses we maybe could have got something from the game. I am not too disappointed though, it is a testimony to the strength of the squad that we can leave out 10 regulars and still field a team better than what was our first eleven just 2 or 3 years ago.

I am surprised at the comment about Avery. Just 2 seasons ago he was in the Ryman North team of the year wasn't he??

He is still young and I think he needs to believe he can dislodge someone from the first team - he has shown he has ability.

Didn't make the trip yesterday but well done to those that did. I don't see the benefit of playing a whole team of fringe players as you will never find out how they will do in a first team environment as essentially it makes it a reserve team. I am not criticising the selection for the game I am just saying contrary to other posts - these cups don't give us the opportunity to try out fringe players in the first team if the whole team is fringe players as you aren't seeing them in the first team are you??

How did he manage that, when  this is  our first ever  season in the Ryman 1 North?

martins makes a very good point as the fringe players learn from playing with the first 11 guys

typical was the way the kadi was continually talking, cadjoling , tweaking young sean against dover [ and it worked !!]

As a point of interest, I wonder why Kadi didn't play against Heybridge?

I'm told he got stuck in traffic and didn't turn up in time.
