The state of the pitch appears to be effecting our style of play, its a shame, Welsh Waffler warned about this earlier in the season, its relevant.
Kebabus, you are right. I and several others have mentioned this and i did say that it may well come back to haunt us.
I'LL SAY IT AGAIN "QUITE SIMPLY WE ARE RUINING OUR BIGGEST ASSET".
Agreed, but that wasn't the reason we lost on Saturday! Fair play to Brentwood who worked really hard and deserved their win on the day.
I'm trying to keep it in perspective, and whilst it was mighty disappointing, perhaps it's the kick up the backside we needed? We've won nothing yet. However, I don't think it was complacency. There were though, a few players who were nowhere near the top of their game. The Junior Kadi fitness and contribution debate has been well versed already. He looks great when we're on top and winning, but when we are struggling to get on top, where is he? OB, who has been nothing short of a revelation in recent weeks had a quiet game when we were looking for someone to really stamp their authority on it, but in fairness, perhaps he was due one? Ryno and Phil were, by their standards, quiet. Jay worked hard when holding the ball up, but unfortunately missed the few goalscoring chances that fell to him. If only just one of them had fallen to Cassie!
Fortunately, our defence looked as solid as ever (Guesty was clearly MOTM for me) and I thought the only way they were going to get beaten was by something special and so it proved. Disappointing therefore that we didn't learn from Noble's ability last time we played them, and the long range shots he kept trying throughout Saturday's match. Wasn't it inevitable that one would eventually be on target? And yet, I lost count of the times our midfield failed to close him down and allowed him to shoot.
Anyway, like I said, it's important we keep this defeat in perspective. We are still in the driving seat, and we are still good enough. I've a feeling that Potters Bar might well feel the backlash next week.
Come on you Darts!
