Alas its billed as a community ground and as such needs to provide income and the main way to do that is to hire the pitch out at the going rate im afraid!

The weather has been shocking the last few months and the pitch has suffered......perhaps both teams could have warmed up on the community pitch and then played on the main pitch (as has happened at Gt Wakering & Sudbury)...certainly you could see the detrimental effect both teams 'mini games' had on the surface as they warmed up

Also PP has not had a first team game called off which shows the pitch can handle the weather its just what state the pitch is left in after having countless games played on it! I for one think the reserve games should be played elsewhere if financially viable apart from if they have any big cup games.

Think TB has summed it up fairly well in his notes. On the day the majority of our players did not perform to their usual high standards and
sometimes that happens, you can live with one or two below par but not eight. The commitment was there but on the day form and a
bit of luck wasn't.

Credit to Brentwood who played nice passing football, definitely a couple of players there to keep an eye on for the future and as I live in
Brentwood I can give them a lift over on match days Tony if that helps.

I mentioned after our game at Northfleet that it would be interesting to compare the number of games played on each surface, to see if PP
is being over used, or if there is some other fundamental problem with our pitch. Modern purpose laid pitches can take a lot of games and this
pitch was supposed to be state of the art and cost I recall over £ 400,000. When we ground shared at Stonebridge Road I think Charlton ladies
also played there, as well as Fleets reserves so that pitch took a lot of games and never seemed to suffer. PP is still playing true but has hardly any
grass left on it, so it is going to need some serious work done in the Summer.

I arrived back in Lincoln today, having seen the last two home matches, and have been reading through the posts in this thread with some interest. I thought we got what we deserved on Saturday and that Brentwood played better football. They had several players with real pace, something whch we lack in defence, midfield and attack. Above all, I was impressed with their movement off the ball. This meant that when one of their players had the ball there was one and usually several of their colleagues in space and ready to receive the pass.

The ongoing debate about Junior Kadi also interests me. Unfortunately some supporters keep comparing him to Eddie, who is a completely different type of midfield player. Junior has never been and will never be a hard-running midfielder. Actually I suspect that he would have looked a much better player if he had been in the Brentwood  team, because the way they found space would have enabled him to make full use of his passing skills.

lincoln i understand and agree with your second paragraph.every player in the world is good at different things.you get players that rely on pace, some rely on ball control, some rely on a quick brain, some rely on strength etc etc.you cant have everyone in the team doing the same thing, just think what would happen if you had 11 mark geens in the team or 11 junior kadis ,it would not work.you need a good balance

with regard to your first para you say we lack pace all over the field whereas brentwood have pace all over and furthermore you say their movement  off the ball is good so presumably their movement is better than ours.however we have 15 more points than them so i would rather be a dartford  fan than brentwood !!! so we must be doing a lot right

lastly i make no bones about being a kadi fan.i like the way he plays and if it was down to me i would build a team aroundn him in order to make the most of his skills and put him in a position to supply the danger men

I don't think I said they had pace all over the field, Rambo, merely that they had several players with real pace. I do believe the Darts lack such pace, apart from the ineffective and now departed Phil Williams, but in most games their many other qualities have been more than enough to compensate for this. My comments about Brentwood's movement refer only to Saturady's match; they presumably don't usually play as well.

I am also a Kadi fan, having once described him as "my type of midfielder," but I don't think we have seen the best of him yet.

Not using the pitch as an excuse for the defeat as on the day Brentwood played well and kept the ball better.

However i still feel that if the pitch was in better condition it would help us more, not an excuse just an opinion.

Also i fully understand that it is a community stadium and needs to be commercially viable, however if you don't look after your assets they soon lose their value.  :x :x

With many others, I was surprised to see a puddle in the 5-yard box at the town end at the start of the second half.  Having gone inside to see the national scores, I am not sure if any work was undertaken during half-time, but it appeared not.  In the past I am sure that we have seen a little fork work during the interval when the weather has been bad.  Perhaps not considered necessary this time.  At least it would have been the opposition keeper getting wet if only he had been called into action.

On a similar theme, I note that Sudbury have a run of three home games scheduled in eight days.  Interesting to see how their pitch copes with that.

Come on you DARTS!

According to the match report on the Brentwood website their win on Saturday was "possibly the best result in the history of the club". I dont know whether they mean since the formation of the original Brentwood in 1886 but if so it was a bit of a drag catching them on their best day in 122 years.

It makes you so proud that beating Dartford means so much to everyone. I think I'm gonna cry.

Fearing having my b***s handed to me on a plate when I visit in May.....Could Saturday's loss be due to being out played.
Someone noted that wings were under water but it seems that running the wings was still being utliized. Surly if the the ground on the wings was in that condition, then other tatics should have been implemented...Just a though!

You should have your balls handed to you on a plate for not visiting in April when the silverware will be handed to the mighty Darts !! In my humble opinion we were not outplayed ! (There go my balls)

Basically got what we deserved on the day which was nothing, to many players having an off day at once.

We got outplayed by a team that wanted the ball a hell of a lot more and concentrated better, they also seemed to cope better with the conditions.

We just have to put this 1 bad performance behind us and make up for it in the next game away to Potters Bar and try to start again where we left off before this match with a WIN.

Gave my MOTM vote to Adam Flannagen as i thought he was excellant yet again along with Guesty who would've normally got my vote but i thought i'd give Flanners a chance this time.

Finally having surfaced after a very hard weekend working (and coping with a bad bout of 'man-flu') I get to writing about saturday. What can be said about it that has not been said by someone else or the Boss? Without taking anything away from Brentwood's performance, the pitch in my opinion really looked bad, and seeing the way the mud was churned up in front of the bench on the wings, we really do need to consider some way of protecting, what was such an asset when we started the season. I personally struggle to remember a match where so many of our players had 'off' days. OK we hit the bar several times, and if they had gone in the match might've been different, but they didn't and it wasn't. The injury to Norms was unlucky (and had me worried for a few minutes saturday :-o ) and I hope he does not suffer any ill effects this week. But we do have an able replacement in Mark, I like a lot of people would have preferred YoYo to have come on but it was not to be - perhaps that was Phil's last chance to impress the boss? The back four + Mark were impressive once again and my MOTM was again a toss up between Adam and John, with very little to choose between them as far as I am concerned. Ryan tried hard but was closed down pretty effectively by the Brentwood no3 (Ketchell?) and the state of the pitch, this did not prevent him getting in a few telling crosses that elude both Jay and Brendon by inches. Brendon and Jay tried but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net, to me Jay looked a little 'off' wether he was tired after the weekend I don't know.
That leaves Alex and Junior - definitely not one of their better games. The goal by Lee Noble was a 'wonder strike' as described by other people, but he was left with too much room in the centre of the park and allowed to run at the defence and shoot, Tony had no chance  really of getting to it. How many times this season have we fallen foul to the so called 'wonder strike' from several yards outside the area. Last season it was us scoring these sorts of goals.
Still onwards and upwards, whilst it's a shame to lose our unbeaten run. I personally thought we would only get 2 points over the Easter weekend so the 6 we won was a bonus.  I still believe  xbow xbow xbow xbow xbow

Its probably all down to formation so if its 4-4-2 then the middle 2 have to be Alex & Eddie with Kadi on the bench! Kadi just not FIT!!!

Out on the left it really should be YO YO I believe otherwise we basically start the game with 2 left backs...which makes us nice and solid with Green out there but we lose LOTS going forward!..Also Norms is good enough not to need a midfielder helping him out!!

i think green is very good going forward and can defend and could easily fill playing left midfield for most of the season
