A multitude of friendlies now with one to go! Here it is my starting 11 for the big kick off. Do you agree?

                                              KESS

COYLE               GUEST          FLANNERS       NORMAN

NOBLE               BARNES        DAFTER            HAYES

                        CASS            HAWORTH

Tough to include Ketchell BUT A 4-5-1 would help his cause.

If Tony goes for 4-4-2 that looks about right. With McClements unavailable and assuming O'Brien and Powell will be suspended, that leaves Osborne, Butterworth, Ketchell and White for the substitutes.

greg 4-5-1 will NOT help ketchells cause as he can play anywhere across the back 4 but NOT in midfield . i reckon he has played very well in pre season and i would have hin at left back as norman has been injured in pre season and i reckon ketchells better anyway !!!!!!!

IF 4-5-1 then i reckon he would draft butterwoth in on the right and play noble in the hole behind the front 2

have we ONLY got 17 players in the squad at present [ NOT counting eddie who is NOT due for another 2 months }  ?????

really now starting to look forward to the 16th and hendon

didn't realise that Ketchell could play left back! Still if its 4-5-1 then Coyle could play mid? away from home our normal 4-4-2 may be vulnerable, the higher you go the more versatile and adaptable you need to be. I hope that someone has also realised this!

                                    KESS

COYLE               GUEST          FLANNERS       KETCHELL

BUTTERWORTH      NOBLE        DAFTER            HAYES

                        CASS            HAWORTH

Ketchell has had a better pre-season than Norman in my opinion and if we want to move forward and get better then we must award places based on performance not based on reputations from last season. Perhaps this addition competition at LB will help Norman improve. Can't go wrong with the rest of the back for though.

Secondly, i dont particularly like Noble out wide for the simple reason that he's more destructive in a more central role. Sorry Barnesy but i'd have to bench you, switch Noble into the center and have Butterworth out right. At least that way we have an attacking midfielder. Dafter is good enough to be our one ball winner and Noble is quite tenacious as well so i dont see too much of a weakeness with the ex-Brentwood central midfield. In my opinion, James White seems like a player who will eventually better Barnes but Barnes has been getting more playing time this pre-season and has not disappointed so at the moment, he'll have that CM bench spot. It'll get really interesting when OB, Powell and McClements get back to see how the midfield will pan out.

whilst i like DOs team  , tony has said that this nseason will NOT see as much  " gung ho " atatcking policy as last season and in this league we will see a lot more 1-0 victories

this suggests that playing 2 wide attacker will NOT happen and thats why i think [especially] away that only 1 of butters or ryno will start and we will see a much more solid midfield than last season

Assuming Powell and OB are suspended if you think TB would go with a 442 i think he would start with:-

                        KESS
COYLE  FLANNERS   GUESTY  NORMAN
NOBLE    BARNES    DAFTER   RYNO
            CASSIE    HAWORTH

But i believe he will go 451 which makes it more interesting. I think he would then leave Haworth on the bench and probably bring in Butterworth to give us the balance.

However on what i have seen pre season my team for this game would be:-

                       KESS
COYLE  FLANNERS  GUESTY  KETCHELL
BUTTERWORTH  BARNES  DAFTER  RYNO
                      NOBLE
                     CASSIE

Nice that we have some good options and all the permutations look strong, good luck TB.

If it's going to be 4-4-2 then i'd go with Dartford Orients line up with Ketchell at left back as imho i think he's a better and stronger player than Norman.

But if it's going to be 4-5-1 then i'd go with Welsh Wafflers line up with Noble playing just behind Cass.

I have to agree with that. Either way they certainly look like strong line-ups to start the season with  xbow xbow xbow

What do the posters above have against Norman? He is solid, rock solid. Ketchell has played well in pre-season I think he is a good versatile player but Norman is going to be tough to dislodge. TB I'm sure will keep Norman there.

I wouldn't have OB in the midfield even though it is now clear that he is available for this one. If not because I think there are players ahead of him in the pecking order, then you don't want to have to disrupt the team once his suspension starts Same goes for Powell.

My feeling is Noble will play off Cass, with Haworth as an option if we have to go a bit more direct as the game pans out. You can tell Haworth is a good player but in the pre-season games I've seen, he's had a frustrating time.

i have nothing [ personal ] against norman i just dont rate him and think he was the weal link in our back four last season and i just think that ketchell [ and holding] are better , simple as that !!!!!!!

would be delighted if he has a great season and proves me wrong !!!!!!!!!!!

just  game of opinions - remember ????????????????
