Dartford v Heybridge Swifts 9th September
« on: September 06, 2008, 10:00:55 PM »

Here we go a 6 pointer and we are only in September. I really hope we can turn it around in this one as it would give us a much needed confidence boost
I hope we change the formation for this match. It at home against another side who are struggling. IMO it has to be

4,4,2

Cass and Rob to start up front together...

4-4-2
4-3-3
4-5-1
4-4-1-1

Makes no difference if we keep making individual erors at the back...............

Spot on welsh, we have now conceded 15 goals in 7 matches including 9 at home a total of 2.14 per game if repeated in 42 matches = 89.9 goals conceded, heybridge for the record have conceded 8 goals in 7 matches, mind you on the plus side they have only scored 2 goals!
I would go for us to win 2-1,but the way we are defending expect some nervy moments.

we could return to  4 - 4- 2 which banged in 100+ goals last season with cassie and ryno prominent and then we wouldnt have to worry about letting in a couple each match  !!!!

i think we have over hyped this RLP and with cassie , ryno and haworth  fire-ing on all cylinders on the service from noble , day and dafter we would slaughter 80% of the teams and finish comfortably in the middle

its ALL about being positive and NOT slipping into the " aitch " syndrome ??????????????

I would like to see us play two up front. I can see the reasons why TB has preferred 5 in midfield, but it's time to make some tough decisions (which now I don't see as so tough) remove a midfielder and put the goal machine up there with Haworth.

There is one midfield place that nobody has made their own so it's time for a dash of Cass and Ryan to start to keep the competition going.

Actually, I think it's about being realistic.
We are not going to slaughter 80% of the teams in this division. If we did, we'd probably win the league.
The 100+ goals is now history.
The Premier league has not been overhyped. I think a lot of us underestimated the difference between the North/South and the Premier.
The one or two upfront debate won't solve our problems, because at the moment we need to score three goals to win. The problems are in defence .
We all raved about last year's defence but most of the praise they got was for contributing 30 (?) goals. How often were they under real pressure to defend against quality forwards ?

Don't expect a certain win with us having 15 goals against as Heybridge have a lot less and even if we do win does that mean we will have to wait for Margate to perhaps pick up more points as the rest of the matches in between are against teams at the top.

This team will be just as hard to beat if we cannot hold onto a lead and concede goals, so although I would prefer to see Cassie up front with Haworth and 4-4-2 it will be up to the defence to make even fewer mistakes and not just rely on us having to score around three goals to make sure of a win.

I've no doubt that it will be good entertaining football again with Heybridge coming to P.P. with every hope of a win if you just look at the table, but we know that to a certain extent we have been a bit unlucky to date and this could be the game that provides a hat full of goals for us.

Tony's selection of team and formation will be supported by the majority as usual, now we just need the right result.

For what it's worth my team tomorrow would be

Ibreheim

Sean Eff... Guesty Coylie Ketch

Ryno Daffie Noble Day

Cass Haworth

We have to try something different IMHO

certain players are struggling    give others a chance

Come on Dartford

i agree we've got to try something different but do you really think it'd be a good idea to put Derren Ibrahim in so early? i'd like to see Razor get a start on tuesday in place of White, not that i think James done anything wrong yesterday but we're at home & we've gotta take the game to Heybridge

I wouldn't change a lot; maybe sacrifice Whitey for Brendon to change the formation, but I think wholesale changes now are too extreme.

agreed , no wholesale changes [ yet] for me and i certainly dont think that young ibriham should be chucked into a defence thats struggling as we saw this with young tedder under TS and it set him back and he has probably only recovered in the last year

IF we do NOT win against heybridge then maybe we will see TB make some changes i

i hope we play 2 up against heybridge and add powells RLP experience to our midfield [ to replace white] cause i believe they will come for a point and hope for a 1-0 so we must get into them

see you ALL tuesday and conitnue with noisy support for TB and the team
